Cruz For President | Hillary's Warren Problem
by Gary Bauer, Contributing Author: Cruz For President - As Snowmageddon descended on Washington, D.C., Friday afternoon, I publicly endorsed Senator Ted Cruz for President. I did so because, after having worked with him over the years, I have gotten to know him well and believe he is the most Reaganesque conservative in the race. You can read my statement below:
“Today, with great pleasure, I am endorsing Ted Cruz for President. Ted Cruz is a courageous conservative who has built a consistent record on the issues that matter most. He has fought for religious liberty at home and abroad. He believes all of our children should be welcomed into the world and protected by the law. Ted knows that government is too big and that taxes and regulations are too high. He will rebuild our military strength and pursue a foreign policy that repairs our frayed alliances. Ted Cruz understands that Israel is our friend and that Iran is our enemy. He understands that border security is national security. Last, but certainly not least, Ted Cruz is committed to restoring the rule of law and repealing President Obama’s outrageous executive orders.“
“Ted Cruz can be trusted to nominate judges who will respect their proper constitutional role and resist the temptation to legislate from the bench. He is the clear choice of Reagan conservatives.” Over the past several months, I have conducted a number of straw polls among my supporters, and Senator Cruz has consistently come out on top, taking 50% in our most recent survey, with the rest divided among the other candidates.
The Iowa caucuses are coming up next week, and I urge all of our Iowa friends to support Senator Cruz. But most importantly, we need unity to ensure we defeat Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders or whomever the Democrats nominate. In the days and weeks ahead, I will be working hard for a unified Republican Party in 2016.
Hillary's Elizabeth Warren Problem - The talking heads on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" were in a tizzy this morning over a report about Hillary Clinton's paid speeches to major Wall Street banks. Goldman Sachs, for instance, paid Clinton $675,000 for just three speeches. According to a recent New York Times report, Hillary Clinton "made more than $2 million in less than seven months" speaking to the big banks.
People who attended her speeches say that, unlike her populist campaign rhetoric today, Clinton was friendly to banks, defending them from the Occupy Wall Street crowd and describing them as partners, not enemies.
Chuck Todd, host of "Meet The Press," asked Clinton yesterday whether the big banks expected "anything in return" for that kind of money. "Absolutely not," Hillary insisted.
But nobody believes that. As one former Democratic governor put it, "To people who earn $200,000 in seven years, it looks ridiculous." Bernie Sanders has made Clinton's Wall Street ties a major issue in the Democratic primary. Even Donald Trump has raised the issue.
And many pundits have noted that Massachusetts progressive Senator Elizabeth Warren is the only female Democratic senator who has not endorsed Hillary Clinton. (Warren hasn't endorsed anyone for president yet.)
The progressive wing of the Democratic Party is already rallying to Sanders -- MoveOn.org and The Nation endorsed him recently. If Warren backed Sanders over Clinton because of concerns about Wall Street ties, it could be a huge setback to Clinton's campaign.
By the way, it is very telling about the left that mishandling classified intelligence gets a yawn while failing to bash the banks appears to be a cardinal sin.
