It's Against The Law!
by Speaker Paul Ryan: The cornerstone of President Obama’s anti-energy climate legacy is in trouble.
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court, in one of the last majority rulings for the great Justice Antonin Scalia, blocked President Obama's Clean Power Plant plan. It will remain blocked until the Supreme Court decides its fate.
The Clean Power Plant plan is another example of the president's unlawful executive overreach, a massive regulation that destroys America’s coal industry as we know it. Congress voted to repeal it in December. And hopefully, the Supreme Court will strike it down—for good.
“Don’t despair, people.” That’s what President Obama said following the ruling.
We’re not despairing, Mr. President.
We’re rejoicing, along with the 29 states that sued the Obama administration for its unlawful and harmful regulation.
We’re rejoicing along with coal country, which has been ravaged by the administration’s countless regulatory attacks.
We’re rejoicing along with American consumers, who deserve energy abundance and an affordable price for it.
We can choose policies that 1) limit our nation’s energy supply and force increase costs for Americans or ones that 2) encourage all energy development and unleash our nation’s energy potential, as House Majority Whip Steve Scalise outlined in the Republican address.
The choice is clear. Republicans pick the second.
