RIP Justice Antonin Scalia & What Should Happen Next
Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia was found dead on Saturday morning. Scalia is one of the minority of judges on the nation’s highest court who is pro-life and supports overturning Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that allowed virtually unlimited abortions. (Life News)
by Ken Blackwell, Contributing Author: Rosa and I send our deepest condolences to the Scalia family. The Justice and his family are in our prayers.
Justice Scalia was one of the greatest Supreme Court justices of all time. His intellect was admired by Americans of all political persuasions and his consistent fidelity to the text and original meaning of the Constitution have transformed the way we all approach the law.
This President has consistently ignored the law. We cannot allow a president who has such contempt for the Constitution to appoint someone who will have the power to interpret and enforce it.
We have a deeply divided country and voter anger is running high. The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice and therefore this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new President. The people should have a role in deciding their next Supreme Court justice and they will by voting in November.
If the argument is made that this vacancy needs to be filled quickly, the response to that should be:
The court regularly decides cases with eight justices and its been 80 years since a justice has been confirmed to an election year vacancy.
RIP Justice Scalia. You are deeply missed.
