Case Against Clinton, Media Reaction, Voter's Reaction #NeverHillary

by Gary Bauer, Contributing Author: The Case Against Clinton - Washington is still buzzing about FBI Director James Comey's decision yesterday not to recommend charges against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

In his remarks, Comey quite effectively made the case for an indictment. Then he abruptly dropped all of it to recommend no prosecution. His press conference was a surreal experience that left millions of Americans with more questions than answers.

But the case against Hillary Clinton is far from closed. Key members of Congress blasted Comey's decision and demanded he appear on Capitol Hill to explain himself.

In a statement yesterday, Speaker Paul Ryan ripped the "terrible precedent" set by this decision, adding that Comey's announcement "defies explanation."

Indeed it does. Others have been prosecuted for a lot less -- here and here -- including Bill Clinton's CIA Director, who was only spared thanks to a last-minute pardon.

Comey now finds himself in the hot seat. It was announced this morning that Director Comey will appear before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee tomorrow morning.

House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte announced that Attorney General Loretta Lynch will testify next week about Hillary's email scandal and Lynch's private tarmac meeting with Bill Clinton.

Senator Ron Johnson, chairman of the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, is demanding written answers from Comey. In a letter to Comey, Senator Johnson wrote:"You determined that Secretary Clinton's 'handling of very sensitive, highly classified information' was 'extremely careless.' However, you found that the actions of Secretary Clinton did not lead to a recommendation to pursue criminal charges, including charges under the 'gross negligence' standard . . . What is the difference, in the FBI's view, between extreme carelessness and gross negligence?"Great question!

There is no question that Director Comey was under tremendous pressure. More than once, President Obama publicly made it clear that Hillary's careless handling of highly sensitive intelligence information was not a big deal to him. Had Comey recommended charges, I have no doubt that Loretta Lynch would have quashed them.

So, perhaps, he did what he felt was the best he could do under such circumstances. Perhaps he will say more in his testimony before Congress.

But whatever happens from here, the FBI director has clearly presented the case against Hillary Clinton. Donald Trump and his allies will have to prosecute it.

You, the American people, will be the jury. You will have a chance on Election Day to convict her at the ballot box and in the court of public opinion.

The Media Reaction - The media's reaction to yesterday's announcement was quite stunning. Left-wing journalists who are usually quick to circle the wagons couldn't escape the impact of Comey's political, if not legal, indictment of Hillary Clinton.

For example, CNN's Wolf Blitzer said that Comey's statement was "very, very damning to put it mildly."

MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell said, "This is politically very damaging. . . this is a big political hit. It is not the complete exoneration that they would have hoped for."

USA Today wrote this headline: "The Damning Things The FBI Said About Clinton's Email."

Numerous articles have been written outlining how Hillary Clinton has lied to the American people (and even the media!) over and over since this scandal broke.

For example, the Associated Press Fact Check wrote: "Key assertions by Hillary Clinton in defense of her email practices have collapsed under FBI scrutiny."

The Washington Post offered these headlines: "How The FBI Director Systematically Dismantled Hillary Clinton's Email Defense" and "Hillary Clinton's Email Problems Might Be Even Worse Than We Thought."

And then there's the video. Footage of Clinton and Comey, side-by-side, lies and fact. It's absolutely devastating.

If you missed it, watch this montage that aired this morning on -- of all places -- MSNBC. Liberal "Moring Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski looked physically ill after watching all of Hillary's lies.

The Voters' Reaction - A new Rasmussen poll finds that a majority of likely voters -- 54% -- disagree with the decision not to prosecute Hillary Clinton. Just 37% of voters support the decision. Surprisingly, even 25% of Democrats think Clinton should have been prosecuted.
