The Russian Hack (Or Not)
by Dr. Jack Sternberg, Contributing Author: I really really don't know whether or not Russia was responsible for hacking the DNC (Democratic National Convention) and handing over the emails to Wikileaks. Maybe it was Russia or maybe someone else. But, I do have a few thoughts about the controversy.
My first thought is why would Russia want Donald Trump to win the Presidency rather than Hillary Clinton?
Hillary was totally ineffectual as a Secretary of State. She is the one who hit the failed "Reset" button with Russia thereby allowing them to take over Crimea and increase their worldwide influence. If I were Vladimir Putin, Hillary is exactly who I would want to be President. Putin, whether you like him or not, is an amazing strategist who for eight years has kicked Obama's and Hillary's butt. Why wouldn't he prefer her to Donald Trump?
Let's acknowledge that Donald Trump is an unknown entity when it comes to foreign affairs. Putin doesn't personally know Trump nor is there any evidence that they have ever personally spoken. If I were Putin, I would be very concerned that Trump, who is also a major strategist ("The Art Of The Deal"), has the potential to be a significant antagonist to Russia's plans. Since Trump is so unpredictable, he could end up being Putin's worse nightmare. Why take a chance on an unknown when he has such a predictable known in Hillary?
So, my conclusion (my personal opinion) is that Putin and therefore the Russian government was not necessarily responsible for the DNC hack. The Russian government (Putin) wouldn't want to influence the American election for Trump because potentially, it would not be in their best long-term interest. Hillary as President would have been their choice to succeed Obama.
Let me state at the beginning of my second thought that any hacking (security breech) is horrific and should not be allowed to occur. Yet there is an aspect of the hacking that no one seems to want to acknowledge or discuss. TRUTH REMAINS TRUTH NO MATTER WHERE IT COMES FROM. The information that was leaked was important for the American voting public to know.
No one has denied the truthfulness of what was in the emails that were leaked. The emails proved that the DNC favored Hillary over Bernie. How news organization gave Hillary debate questions ahead of time. How newspaper "journalists" cleared articles with the DNC before going to print. How John Podesta and therefore Hillary Clinton viewed many issues, attempted to manipulate the campaign and how he advised Hillary. And so much more.
The Democrat's hypocrisy is that they only complain when it suits their agenda. I contend that if a hacker had emails proving Trump colluded with Putin, I'll bet the left would not be complaining about the origin of the hacker if it were Russia or China.
In conclusion, if this information influenced Americans, those that were undecided or favored Hillary, not to vote for Hillary Clinton and thereby influenced the results of the election, then for the good of the country, I'm glad someone hacked into Hillary's and the Democrat's "truth."
