Tom Cotton: Congress Moving Too Quickly On Health Care Reform
Sen. Tom Cotton, R-AR |
“I think we’re moving a little bit too quickly on health care reform,” Mr. Cotton said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
“This is a big issue. This is not like the latest spending bill that gets released on a Monday night, [passed] on Wednesday and everybody goes home for Christmas, and we live with it for nine months,” he said.
“We’re going to live with health care reform that we pass forever, or until it’s changed in the far distant future,” he said.
“So I don’t think we need to introduce legislation on Monday and have one chance to amend it on Wednesday,” he said. “I would much sooner get health care reform right than get it fast.
“The Senate certainly will not just be jammed with whatever the House sends over here,” he said.
Proponents of the House GOP plan unveiled Monday say it’s just one step in a multipart process of unwinding the law. Some critics have said it might be a good idea to get projections on how much the plan will cost and how many Americans will be insured before plowing ahead.
