Familes Gather for Thanksgiving
Dr. Bill Smith, editor: For many across America, efforts have begun for the gathering of "the family" and / or friends for Thanksgiving. For those with families who are physically close to each other they may not be traveling far but they are still planning for this annual American tradition.
For our family, my having served a career in the military and later teaching at varied universities, resulted in our family scattering. Therefore., like millions of American families, travel necessitates the gathering. While some in a family may be hosting the annual Thanksgiving gathering, others prepare to travel. Often additional preparations must be made for hosting family members. Fortunately for us and I hope for most readers, the sound of joy, laughter is a blessing. It is also a time for phone calls to family and friends who could not gather together.
For the above reasons, the ARRA News Service may be a little light on articles this week and please don't expect any articles except our traditional comment on Thanksgiving Thursday or on Friday -- recovery day. Our contributing authors hopefully will be experiencing the joy of the Thanksgiving.
Finally, as career military veteran, I am asking readers to consider two areas for prayer as you gather to be thankful (you are also welcome to post your prayers and positive thoughts as comments):

- Pray for protection and wisdom for the members of our military who are serving in varied parts of the world. Some are standing watch under and on the seas, others are in American missile silos and others are physically in or supporting aircraft on both land and sea. There is no "world peace." Some military and government civilians are or will be in dire straights, Some may even be fighting to survive the situation which our country has placed them in.
- Pray for our President and Vice President and their administration to have wisdom in leading our nation.
