Thank you, Jon Voight ... and President Trump

by Joseph Farah: By now you have probably seen actor Jon Voight get choked up during his interview with Mark Levin on Fox News Channel.

I know how he feels – and you probably do, too.

While I was supportive of Donald Trump in his bid for the presidency almost from the beginning, I had doubts. Maybe he would be great, I thought. I always believed he could win – and win big. But what if he failed? Could he stand up to the enormous opposition I knew he would face? Was he adequately prepared for the task ahead of him? Could anyone be?

Here we are 21 months into his presidency, and I wonder if anyone could have foreseen what he would accomplish in such a short time.

I get choked up, too, thinking about it.

I wasn’t sure if we would ever seen another Ronald Reagan in my lifetime. Recently, I was talking to a friend who thinks like me. We both agreed that President Trump is off to a better start than Reagan was in his first two years – by far.

For me, that is really saying something, because Reagan was responsible for persuading me to forsake the left – completely. My friend, a name you would know, didn’t need that political awakening. He had been a Reaganite all along.

Thank you, Jon Voight, for opening up your emotions like that publicly. We all need to do that more often. We need to thank God for the deliverance He has given us with the Trump presidency.

With all of the resistance he has seen, President Trump has been strong and resolute. He has not capitulated in any way. He has not wavered. In fact, he seems to grow in strength and determination to Make America Great Again.

It reminds me of the opening lines of “A Tale of Two Cities” by Charles Dickens: “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way—in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.”

President Trump and his team are accomplishing great things. But the resistance is strong and determined too.

For me, it is indeed the best of times and the worst of times. I’m seeing a president lead our country in a way I could never have dreamed in the best of dreams. But for me personally and professionally, it is the worst of times. Because, while the opposition cannot seem to lay a glove on President Trump, it is destroying my own dream for revival of the free press – the dream ignited 21 years ago with the birth of the first independent, alternative online news organization, WND.com. The enemy – a new enemy – is attempting to destroy not only the entire independent, alternative media that sprung up subsequently, it is attempting to destroy free speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion and the future of free elections in America.

While President Trump has been a powerful force in opposition to this agenda by the “Speech Code Cartel” of Google, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Apple and Amazon, the cabal’s evil agenda continues to threaten America’s future of liberty in very real ways. The independent media, credited rightly or wrongly with its truth-telling role in 2016, are on the ropes – especially WND. We’re not as strong in 2018 for the critical upcoming midterm election. Our fate in 2020 remains questionable.

With all that in mind, I think about Dickens’ opening of “A Tale of Two Cities.” For us, we’re living a tale of two nations – the America of God, justice, prosperity and common sense vs. the America of Antifa, corruption, lawlessness and chaos.

We all have work to do to see that the America of God, justice, prosperity and common sense is the ultimate victor.

May I humbly suggest that outcome is not likely if we lose free speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion and free elections along the way?
