The Smears Continue, Some Useful History, Trump In Charge

by Gary Bauer, Contributing Author: The Smears Continue - The left's ongoing efforts to smear Judge Brett Kavanaugh continue into the realm of the absurd. For example:

• The New York Times has been going over Kavanaugh's yearbook with a fine-tooth comb.  This is the same left-wing media that couldn't find Barack Obama's college transcript. They weren't interested in Obama's church until conservative media outlets exposed Jeremiah Wright as an anti-American bigot.  And they don't seem interested in the more credible and more recent assault allegations against the deputy chairman of the Democrat National Committee.
• As you may have heard, Brett Kavanaugh kept calendars of his daily activities while he was in high school.  Remarkably, he still has them! And left-wing reporters have noticed that he was evidently grounded a few times during his senior year in high school. Oh, the horror!
• Yesterday, lawyers for Dr. Christine Ford attempted to dictate which media outlets would be allowed into tomorrow's hearing.  Can you imagine the reaction if Kavanaugh tried to dictate which media were allowed in? The left would erupt in howls of protest about freedom of the press.
• Deborah Ramirez, the second Kavanaugh accuser, is refusing to cooperate with Senate investigators until there is an FBI investigation.  (Check out what Joe Biden had to say in 1991 about FBI investigations.)
• Now "Creepy Porn Lawyer" Michael Avenatti has produced a third accuser, Julie Swetnick.  But if you carefully read her sworn statement, you'll notice that Swetnick never actually accuses Kavanaugh of doing anything to her.  She simply believes he was present at some parties she attended.
• Swetnick claims she knew that girls were being "gang raped" at these parties.  Swetnick claims that she was drugged and raped at one of these parties.  She does not accuse Brett Kavanaugh of assaulting her.  But did she ever report her rape to the police? Did she ever report her alleged knowledge of other girls being raped?
• Brett Kavanaugh categorically denies Swetnick's accusation, saying, "This is ridiculous and from the Twilight Zone.  I don't know who this is and this never happened."
• Senator Lindsey Graham tweeted today:  "If Republicans bail out on this good man because of the smears and character assassination perpetrated by Michael Avenatti, we deserve our fate."

Some Useful History - Judge Kavanaugh is scheduled to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee tomorrow.  The stakes for Kavanaugh and America could not be greater.

If his confirmation fails because of these charges, it is impossible to imagine that a man accused of such heinous crimes could remain on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. Presumably, there will be calls for him to resign unless he is cleared of these charges.

But how does that happen?

Where is Judge Kavanaugh supposed to go to get his reputation back?

As I have previously reported, Brett Kavanaugh has undergone six FBI investigations. Nothing like these accusations ever came up.

Kavanaugh has been nominated to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals twice -- in 2004 and 2006. His nominations were very controversial at the time as Senate Democrats were aggressively fighting every single Bush nominee. But nothing like these accusations ever came up.

Kavanaugh was a lead investigator for Ken Starr's team during the investigation into Bill Clinton's various scandals.  He was extremely involved in the Monica Lewinsky investigation and wrote portions of the Starr Report that made the case for Bill Clinton's impeachment.

As you may recall, the Clinton team waged all-out war against Starr and his team.  Clinton loyalist Sidney Blumenthal reportedly hired a private investigator to dig up dirt on Starr and his prosecutors.

Surely the Clintons would have relished the opportunity to smear one of Ken Starr's investigators with charges of rape and sexual assault.  But nothing like these accusations ever came up.

I hope and pray that the American people see through this obvious smear campaign and massively punish the Democrats this November for attempting to destroy a good man and his family.

Trump In Charge - Yesterday, standing before dozens of hostile nations at the U.N. General Assembly, President Trump was completely in command as he made a strong defense of American sovereignty.

This morning, he chaired a session of the U.N. Security Council, and was in total control of the proceedings.  He was speaking truth to thugs and dictators.

This is the same man who we are routinely told is mentally unstable and unfit for office.  We're told he is unbalanced, and that his aides are so concerned that they are plotting to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove him from office.

I admit there has been some craziness in the White House.  The president did sign a deal with the mass murdering regime that promises a second Holocaust.  Oh wait, that was the previous president.  But getting out of that bad deal is "crazy," according to the left.

Incredibly, the left seems to believe that presidents are acting rationally when they act against the common sense interests of the United States!

Haley Defends Trump - On Fox & Friends this morning, U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley defended President Trump's leadership and pushed back against the outrageous media narratives.  She said:

"It's gotten so disgusting, really.  The idea that he's not mentally fit. . . that we'd be talking about the 25th Amendment. None of that is true.  It couldn't be farther from the truth. You've got a president who is nonstop going all the time.  The Cabinet is just trying to keep up with him!"

Haley also blasted John Kerry's meetings with Iranian leaders as "disrespectful and hurtful to America."  Reacting to Kerry's defense that no one objects to Henry Kissinger's meetings with foreign leaders, Haley said:

"[Kissinger] never goes out of the country without telling our administration. When he comes back, he tells our administration. He works with us and tells us what he's doing all the time.

"Secretary Kerry, we didn't know that conversation happened. We didn't know what he was doing. Dr. Kissinger, you never have to worry that he's not on America's side."
