Halter - Pornography & Gambling Issues

Bill Halter website identifies him as a family man and member of the Catholic church. Why then do we see "gray cloud" surrounding Halter and his campaign? Why do we hear the words pornography and gambling linked continually with Halter? One reason seems to be his prior paid position on the board of directors for Akamai Technologies, Inc. before running for office. Another his support for the Lottery and for gays adopting children.

When "googling" the words "Akamai Technologies" and "pornography," it doesn't take long to see that Akamai Tech made millions via pornography and gambling. In the primary, many Arkansans got the first whiff of this issue when Halter's democrat opponent Tim Wooldridge identified the issue which was picked up by the Associated Press (AP) in June, 2006: Lt. Gov. candidate criticized over business ties. Tim Wooldridge criticized Bill Halter for "profiting from online gambling and internet pornography" by sitting on the board of Akamai Technologies, Inc.
The AP reported that Halter had served on the company's board since August 2001 and that Akamai spokesman Jeff Young says the company will "phase out its relationship with adult-oriented sites." Wooldridge said that the company has "long-term business relationships" with the adult-oriented sites.

Another interesting source on Akamai Technologies was from an Internet Gambling Magazine (caution on link) which reported in 11 Dec 2002 (20 days to 2003), that "Akamai Technologies has begun phasing out delivery of porn and gambling sites via servers installed at universities and colleges." An Akamai spokesperson would not comment on specific servers but reiterated Akamai's official line that it is phasing out its relationships with three gambling sites and with porn sites. He could not say whether the changes are permanent. Akamai says it is no longer seeking business from pornography sites or gambling sites ... but has not said when it expects to be out of the business.

Halter won the Democrat Primary over Tim Wooldridge. Has the AR Democrat Party moved so far left that it has left its voter base? With its recent platform change rejecting traditional marriage, Halter's statement at the first debate that he supports adoption by gays, and his past association with the pornography industry and gambling, many Democrats will face a dilemma for the Lt. Governors race. They can vote for Halter who is far left than their beliefs, vote for Jim Holt who is more in align with their beliefs, or they can "gamble" by not voting at all.

Vic Snyder Votes Against Public Expression of Religion Act

Vic Snyder, Arkansas 2nd District Congressman was the lone extremely liberal member of the Arkansas Congressional delegation who voted for absolute liberalism and the ACLU. He voted No on Tuesday to the Public Expression of Religion Act (HR 2679) with passed with final vote of 244 to 173. Our other three Arkansas congressmen, 2 Democrats and 1 Republican, voted Yes on the bill. Role Call Vote ..

The bill would prohibit judges from awarding taxpayer dollars to lawyers such as those hired by the ACLU in religious freedom cases. Remember those ACLU laywers who weere supposed to be working for free to help save our civil liberties but are now making money by attacking religious freedom. The bill doesn't stop ACLU lawyers (who are paid by the ACLU) from representing clinets but it will remove the dollar incentives for nonprofit lawyers who have filed frivioulous lawsuits - which they have done often agaist Chrisitan groups. Voters of the 2nd District - please help yourself and the rest of Arkansas - Snyder is NOT supporting your values and beliefs - time to say NO to Snyder in November by Voting for Andy Mayberry!

Critical Election Year - Dems Say Higher Taxes

Everything is on the line in this critical election year! Both in Arkansas and in the US Congress! Just ask Charles Rangel, the man who would write tax law as House Ways & Means Committee chairman under a Democrat majority. When it comes to raising your taxes in 2007, Rangel just this week said "Everything has to be on the table." Here's how the National Journal reported it: "Asked whether tax increases across the spectrum would be considered, [Rangel] replied, 'No question about it.'"

Just when you thought across-the-board tax increases were a thing of the past - a relic of the Clinton era - one of the most powerful Democrats lays it all out for us: if Democrats are allowed to take control,
they will raise your taxes - and everyone else's. This is the choice we face. Either we fight them this year, or we fight them next year, when the threats of tax increases from Speaker Pelosi and Chairman Rangel will no longer just be threats. Get out there and support your Republican congressional candidate: 1st District Stubby Stumbaugh, 2nd District Andy Mayberry, 3rd District Congressman John Boozman & 4th District Joe Ross.

Gunner Delay Will Protect Children

The Saline County sheriff?s office arrested more than 20 men on charges of stalking children over the Internet in the past three months, including eight men who were arrested in this week?s sex sting.. [Arkansas Democrat Gazette 9/29/06]

Gunner DeLay released Major Proposals Concerning Sexual Predators. DeLay wants Arkansas to have the toughest sexual predator laws in the country. Gunner DeLay said he wants major changes in how our state deals with sexual predatory offenses when he takes office. His plan includes stiffer sentences for sexual predators, letting juries determine risk levels for all sexual offenses, promoting his Safenet program, and passing the first anti-grooming law in the nation. The Safenet program includes educating parents, students, and teachers about the risk of Internet predators. His anti-grooming law would outlaw communication or contact between an adult and child that was designed to condition that child for a sexual encounter. ?Grooming? refers to the process that pedophiles go through to break down the defenses of children before they attempt an act of abuse. Contact Gunner Delay to discuss his plan..

Clinton was too often AWOL

When Bill Clinton cited Richard Clarke's book in his defense, he forgot that people might actually have read it. And when he rewrites history, he forgets other people were there and saw it differently. On Page 223 of Clarke's book, "Against All Enemies," he describes a meeting after al-Qaida's attack on the USS Cole. Clinton in the meeting said neither the CIA nor the FBI would verify al-Qaida's responsibility for the attack. Clarke quotes Mike Sheehan, a State Department official, as saying in frustration: "What's it going to take, Dick? ... "Does al-Qaida have to attack the Pentagon to get their attention?" As it turns out, that was the case.

In the Wallace interview, Clinton claimed that "if I were still president, we'd have more than 20,000 troops (in Afghanistan) trying to kill (bin Laden)." Well, sir, you were president and you didn't send any troops to Afghanistan or anywhere else to try to kill him. In fact, during all the multiple opportunities you had to deal al-Qaida a mortal blow before 9/11, Mr. Clinton, you failed .... When the World Trade Center was attacked in 1993, you went to court. When it was attacked in 2001, President Bush went to war .You were commander in chief, sir, and too often you were AWOL. Read More .. [INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY Editorial 9/26/06]

Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire

In a Bill Halter news release, Halter acts like a child shouting "liar, liar, pants on fire." Has the stress of campaigning caused Halter to regress to dirty tricks? Or is his campaign staff running amok? Almost every Arkansan, except Halter and his staff, who knows Jim Holt will tell you that he is not a liar. Holt may get under your skin asking questions and standing for his positions on pro-life, illegal immigration, foster care, and taxes. But Holt doesn't tell "whoppers" as alleged by the Halter campaign. Halter's education at liberal Stanford University in CA or his time as a Washington DC insider must have included perfecting the "big lie" to deceive people . Halter even got the Arkansas Times to print his lies.

Well lets review Halter lies which can be revealed via documentation verses a rampage of allegations:
Halter Lie #1: "Holt cites a bogus study conducted by the Women's Prayer and Action Group." That partisan group apparently only received 30 comments to a teacher survey they sent out six years ago."
Truth: The study's cover letter that Halter calls bogus was signed by former Senator Peggy Jeffries, who served on the Senate Education Committee and was later appointed as a member of the State Board of Education by Governor Huckabee. It was sent to 711 teachers from a number of schools in the state varying in size.
Review the letter.
Truth: There were 30 pages of comments, not 30 comments, with 90% of them negative toward the educational reforms. 80% of the answers on the survey were negative but 90% of the comments were. Review Teachers Comments.

Truth: The teacher survey was conducted six years ago. The Women's Prayer and Action Group began two years ago.
Halter Lie #2: Halter picks one quote out of the 90% others that are negative toward educational reforms saying, "Ironically, one of the first teacher comments to the survey said: 'Quality teachers can not be kept or hired unless Arkansas teachers receive a large pay raise.'"
Truth: The survey depicts that when money is mentioned in the comments by the teachers, it is most often in reference to the money wasted by the educational reforms. To Review the Comments.
Halter Lie #3: "Women's Prayer and Action Group which is headed up by Holt campaign volunteer Debbie Pelley."
Truth: How does Halter know who heads up the Women's Prayer and Action Group. In fact. they have NO designated officers, and several different women take on responsibilities to pray and to write signed articles. Is Halter so desperate that he must attack a group of praying women involved in nonpartisan civic action?
Halter Lie #4 - by inference: Halter in an effort to "toot his own horn," assigns a someone else's comment to Jim Holt. The comment was NOT made by Jim Holt but by a Democrat who is supporting and working for the Holt's campaign to defeat Halter. The person called Halter's prior position with the SSA as a "low-level political appointment."
Truth: Holt did not say this comment - a democrat did! Another truth - some people of small stature need to be seen bigger than they actually are!
Truth: While working in the Clinton Administration and directing SSA activities, SSA funds continued to be depleted and used for other government activities. Halter also had to appear before Congress to address "integrity issues" at SSA.
Halter Lie #5 - by deception: Quoting Holt comment that "I've have been working tirelessly to reduce the tax burden in this state to bring in high paying jobs," Halter says Holt is "All talk and no action."
Truth: Halter identifies bills introduced by Holt (which was definitely action) which did not clear democrat controlled committees . Holts' bills were 'dead on arrival" because Halter's fellow "Tax and Spend" Democrats ran the committees.
Truth: These democrat Senate leaders have made Arkansans one of the most taxed peoples in the U.S. Holt is popular with the everyday Arkansan who is tired of the burden of taxes. Does Halter say how he will cut taxes?
Halter Lie #6: Halter's news release says he attended Stanford University for four years, and "beyond that has not lived one day in California. Bill Halter has been an Arkansas resident his entire life, even when he left the state to serve Arkansas and our country in the Clinton Administration."
Truth: Halter did not live in Arkansas while attending CA Stanford Univ. Halter did not live in Arkansas while attending Oxford Univ. in England. He lived in the Virginia, Maryland area for many years while serving in DC. Where did he go and work after leaving with the Clinton Administration? "On June 1, 2006, the Arkansas News Service reported that Democrat Bill Halter, who has touted his business experience and memberships on the boards of successful biotech firms in his campaign for lieutenant governor, has left the board of a California startup that has burned through nearly $500 million without ever turning a profit. The firm, which is also the target of a Justice Department investigation ... Halter was named to board of Brisbane, Calif.-based InterMune Inc. in July 2002".
It's time for Halter stop his "mud slinging lies" and to make his positions known to the voters!

Margin Continues to Narrow in Governors Race

Asa Hutchinson message is reaching Arkansas voters. Asa continues to narrow the margin with Mike Beebe. The previously close margin of 3.3% has narrowed in the last two weeks to 2.7% with Beebe at 45.7% and Hutchinson at 43%, well inside the 4.2% margin of error. This is according to the latest Wall Street Journal Zogby poll as of today (9/27). Follow the poll ... [Click Gubernatorial Races & run your mouse over Arkansas on the map]

Majority View on National Anthem & Immigration

We are sorry but after hearing they want to sing the National Anthem in Spanish -- enough is enough. Nowhere did they sing it in Italian, Polish, Irish (Celtic,) German or any other language because of immigration. It was written by Francis Scott Key and should be sung word for word the way it was written. The news broadcasts even gave the translation -- not even close. Sorry if this offends anyone but this is MY COUNTRY - IF IT IS YOUR COUNTRY SPEAK UP! We are not against immigration -- just come through like everyone else. Get a sponsor; have a place to lay your head; have a job; pay your taxes, live by the rules AND LEARN THE LANGUAGE as all other immigrants have in the past -- and GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Jim Holt vindicated by results of survey

Dan Noble said in a Holt Campaign press release today that "Senator Holt has been eviscerated for his stand on illegal immigration and called extreme by Mr. Halter. His opponent has used the terms 'inflammatory... race-baiting and demagoguery' more than once in reference to Senator Holt's stand on illegal immigration." Halter has publicly stated that he disagrees with Holt's sponsored SB 206 (2005) to deny illegal aliens state benefits except in the case of emergency.

Senator Holt was vindicated by a recent survey that revealed that more than 2/3 of Arkansans supported Senator Holt's SB 206 to deny state tax payers benefits to illegal aliens. "A view held by 2/3 of the electorate could hardly be called 'extreme'." The electorate is far more in tune with Senator Holt's views than the views of Halter.

Senator Holt has a clear position on illegal immigration. He led the fight in the Senate to defeat HB 1525 which would have given scholarships and in state tuition to illegal aliens. If HB1525 had been a tie, the Lt. Governor would have had to vote to break the tie. Noble asked, "Which way would Halter have voted" if he were Lt. Governor? Similar bills may be proposed in future legislative sessions. Halter continues to hide and not identify whether he supports amnesty for illegal aliens and open borders. Halter, an unknown quantity in Arkansas and voters want to know where he stands on illegal immigration. Fortunately, Arkansans know where Jim Holt stands - he stands with them!

Democrats Stuck on 'New Direction' in Iraq?

According to Democrats, the war in Iraq is a "complete failure" Democrats in both the House and the Senate are calling for a "new direction" in the war effort. But what does that mean? As a group, they aren't saying.

And Rep. Murtha (D-Pa.) has suggested that U.S. troops can defend Iraq from outside the country: "We don't have to be right there [in Iraq],"
Murtha said in June, in an appearance on NBC's Meet the Press. "We can go to Okinawa... our fighters can fly from Okinawa very quickly." Read More

Note: if a republican had made Mutha statement, democrats and the news would have "cried dumb doesn't know geography." Will someone tell Murtha that Okinawa is in the Pacific Ocean? We are not going to fly from Okinawa to Iraq "very quickly" let alone being able to do so with any effect on Iran. First we would have to cross China or cross Indonesia and then India, Pakastan, etc . Or maybe the US could take the long away around the Asian and Indian contenent. I think not!

Arkansas remediation rate shocks Gov. Huckabee

Little Rock, Arkansas - At the Sept 20, 2006, Next Step High School Redesign Summit at the Statehouse Convention Center, Governor Huckabee revealed, " ... some startling statistics ... took my breath away. Twenty percent of Arkansas ninth graders do not stay in school until graduation. The rate is even higher for African-Americans and Hispanic students. More than 50 percent of Arkansas students who go straight to college require remedial courses in both math and English. ... Academically, ...Arkansas' high schools are in crisis."

These "startling statistics" were in direct conflict with the Commissioner of Arkansas Department of Education, Dr. Ken James previous released commments [
Read comments]. It is totally astounding that the governor would say he didn't know these things. However, the conflict between statistics did not prevent the Governor from joining the Commissioner in announcing another new program called Next Step for Arkansas? Future that is supposed to focus on the "redesign of high schools so all students are prepared for life after graduation." The Women's Prayer & Action Group expressed concerns over this new program!

Illegals From Terror-Sponsoring Nations at Large in US

Almost half of the illegal aliens arriving in the U.S. from terrorist-sponsoring or "special interest" nations in the past few years have been released into the American population following their apprehension. "Catch and release" policies have allowed more than 45,000 illegal aliens from countries that are well known for their anti-American views or considered "hotbeds of Islamic fundamentalism" to be freed. Read More ...

The liberal media is not disclosing the real truth about immigration. American citizens are not being told the full story, and are being deceived with misinformation. A prime example is the recent PEW Research Survey that showed that 77 percent of the American people did not want an increase in legal immigration?yet the media refused to report it, or they manipulate the numbers. Tell the UN to prevent a nuclear armed Iran

Recent events in the Middle East have been of great concern. Iran has been supporting a terrorist war against Israel through Hamas and Hezbollah. Iran's president Ahmadinejad has publicly stated his desire to "wipe Israel off the map" and "Allah willing Islam will conquer all the mountain tops of the world." Now Ahmadinejad has restarted his country's capacity to enrich uranium needed to create a nuclear bomb and closed all of its facilities to monitoring from the international community. Iran has chosen to reject U.N. Security Council Resolution 1696 which requires the immediate suspension of all enrichment-related activities and strict monitoring by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). It's time for the U.N. to act before it's too late. Click here to sign the petition today.

Mehlman Lays Out Choice For Mid-Term Voters

RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman writes in the Wall Street Journal (9/22/06), "Last month's narrowly averted plot to blow up airliners bound for the U.S. from Great Britain is a stark reminder that we are engaged in an extraordinary and dangerous global war. In 46 days, the American people will make an important decision about how we prosecute that war: Do we stay on the offense and use every tool available to defeat the enemy, or do we elect leaders who would weaken America and surrender key tools we need to defeat the global jihad?" Mehlman adds that "there can be no doubt about the national and international import of the choice we all face as Americans. We face war and a changing global economy, and Republicans have very different strategies for victory than the Democrats." Read More

Dobson makes reluctant return to politics

WASHINGTON - Focus on the Family Founder James Dobson made a reluctant return to the political stage this week, rallying family-values voters for key congressional races ... Dobson said he left the Washington meetings agreeing to rally family values voters again, lest the Congress fall into the hands of liberals. "I came home absolutely convinced there absolutely is no choice, because the alternative is terrible," Dobson said. Read More
