VIDEO: Undercover Investigation Reveals Liberal Hypocrisy on Voter ID

Rob Bluey, Heritage Foundation: U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder is currently blocking implementation of voter ID laws in South Carolina and Texas, claiming such measures are “unnecessary,” discriminatory and would make it harder for minorities to vote.

But if you’re planning to visit Holder’s office in Washington, D.C., you better bring a photo ID. The Department of Justice has two armed guards stationed outside its headquarters to check IDs of anyone who wants to enter — employees and visitors.

Holder’s politically motivated crusade against voter ID laws has the support of liberal advocacy organizations such as the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and the Advancement Project. These organizations have criticized photo identification for voting, yet they require it to enter their Washington, D.C., offices as well. There’s even a sign in the building of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law: “ALL VISITORS MUST SHOW ID.”

The undercover investigation was carried out by PJTV.

Holder is able to block laws in South Carolina on Texas because they are subject to Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act, a civil rights-era law that gives the Department of Justice authority over voting changes. It remains unclear if those states will be able to enforce their laws for this November’s election.

“The Obama-Holder Department of Justice has launched an all-out war on voter ID and other measures,” former Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell said upon launching a new initiative called Protect Your Vote. “Although Holder’s actions are purported to prevent African-Americans from being disenfranchised, in reality they serve as a crass political attempt to ensure his boss gets re-elected this year.”

Liberals have long trotted out false arguments about voter ID laws, claiming they suppress the vote among those individuals who do not have photo identification. But a 2008 U.S. Supreme Court case upholding Indiana’s voter ID law revealed there was no such hardship. Opponents of the law were unable to produce a single plaintiff who could plausibly claim inability to get a photo ID. In addition, states with longstanding voter ID laws, such as Georgia and Indiana, have actually experienced an increase in turnout of minority voters.

AP: Job Market Slowed in March

The Bureau of Labor Statistics announced the employment numbers for March today, but as news reports suggest the numbers are again disappointing. The Wall Street Journal writes, “U.S. job growth slowed in March, and the labor force shrank, signaling that the economy could be losing momentum. Jobs outside of agriculture grew by 120,000 last month—half the number that the economy added the prior month—the Labor Department said Friday, marking the first time since November that job growth fell below 200,000.” And the AP reports, “The job market slowed in March as companies hit the brakes on hiring amid uncertainty about the economy's growth prospects. The unemployment rate dipped, but mostly because more Americans stopped looking for work.”

With today’s news, it’s worth recalling what Democrats in Congress and the Obama administration promised when they passed their nearly $1 trillion stimulus bill three years ago. Former White House economists Christina Romer and Jared Bernstein predicted that the unemployment rate with the stimulus bill would not exceed 8%. Yet the unemployment rate has been above 8% for over 36 months now. Shortly after President Obama signed the stimulus, Vice President Joe Biden boasted that the stimulus “literally drop-kicks us out of this recession” by, he claimed, creating “3.5 million jobs” in “18 months.”

Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson responded to the released March unemployment rate report: "Obama's U.S. Department of Labor loses more credibility every month as they announced a lower unemployment rate in March, while at the same time 31,000 fewer Americans actually had jobs than the previous month. In spite of all the happy talk out of Obama's official Washington, D.C., the fact is that fewer Americans were working last month than the previous one. That is not a recovery, it is an economic disaster for millions of families. The fact is, since Obama took office 4.683 million people have dropped out of the labor force. If they were included in today's unemployment report, the jobless rate would be 10.8 percent, and the underemployed rate 17 percent. All together 27.1 million Americans cannot find full-time work in the Obama economy."

Rick Manning, former Public Affairs Chief of Staff at the U.S. Department of Labor, noted on a NetRighhtDaily, " While Obama claims an unemployment rate of 8.3 percent, the real unemployment rate is 10.8 percent. Because ultimately, Obama’s unemployment rate decreases are the perverse result of the destruction of American’s hope of finding work and their abandoning the workforce."

President Obama’s expensive regulations, constant calls for tax increases, and his byzantine and unpopular health care law are all making it harder and more expensive to create private sector jobs in the United States. This country can do better.  But the administration just calls it "ups and downs" verses facing the truth that his policies are causing a serous shrinkage in the labor force.

Arkansas House Republicans Introduce The SIMPLE Plan

Bill Smith, Editor: After 136 years of plantation politics in Arkansas, the voice of "We The People" is being heard. The rising tide of conservatism in Arkansas is making its impact. The demands for government accountable and transparency, for Big Government be put on a diet and for government waste and spending be reduced have been heard by numerous elected officials With the potential anticipated increases in elected Republicans in the 2012 Elections, the present Republican House leadership has boldly setting forth a road map - their plan for responsible actions.

Today, we note that road map. It was developed by members of the Arkansas House Republican Caucus which anticipates that 2012 voters will make them responsible for the Arkansas State Legislature. They realized that waiting until after the transition will be too late. Therefore, the Republican House Caucus has set forth the parameters within which Republicans will operate for the benefit of Arkansans. They call their plan The SIMPLE Plan. Below is an image depicting The Simple Plan and videos with Republican House leaders detailing their planned actions in working with other elected officials to address the major issues facing Arkansans.

Their playbook, The Simple Plan, is now placed before the public to read. Obviously, this is not usual politics in Arkansas. They and future elected Republicans and hopefully other elected officials will be held accountable for legislative and funding actions within the scope of this plan. I commend the current House Republican Caucus for reaching agreement and setting forth this plan. Arkansans will be watching and holding them accountable in their efforts.

Arkansas House Republican Caucus: Republicans are committed to fighting for hardworking Arkansans and replacing the status quo in state government with a simple, direct and bipartisan vision. Since 2012 will mark a new era for Arkansas government and politics, this week House Republicans unveiled their “SIMPLE” policy plan to move Arkansas forward.

Mr. President: “Take Care!”

Bob Morrison and Ken Blackwell
Ken Blackwell and Bob Morrison, Contributing Authors: President Obama took the oath of office on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. In that Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial year, Mr. Obama sought to stress his admiration for the only other president from Illinois. Millions of people watched as he placed his left hand on the Lincoln Bible and raised his right hand. Around the world, billions viewed the event on television. On the National Mall, army howitzers of the Presidential Salute Battery fired off a 21-gun salute to honor the new commander-in-chief.

It was surely a great day for all Americans. Nearly 400 years before, a single Dutch ship had brought chained Africans to Jamestown in the colony of Virginia, thus beginning centuries of slavery and oppression. President Obama was right to see the transcendent meaning in his elevation to the highest office in the land.

That is why his contempt for law is so deeply troubling. We understand that he rejects the Defense of Marriage Act and views it as unconstitutional. Still, until it is repealed, or until it is deemed by our courts--including the highest court--to be unconstitutional, he has taken an oath to “faithfully execute the office of President of the United States.” The Constitution that he swore before God to “preserve, protect, and defend” requires the president to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed.” Not just the laws he approves of, not merely those laws he would have voted for as a legislator, but the laws.

Lincoln taught Americans to reverence the laws. He broke with the abolitionists of his day over the hateful Fugitive Slave Act. Lincoln hated that law, too, but he said we had to obey it because the Constitution provided for it. We had to obey that law, Lincoln wrote his dearest friend, slaveholder Joshua Speed of Kentucky, even though “we crucify our feelings” in so doing. Crucify our feelings. What a phrase.

Why is it important for President Obama to obey and to enforce the law? Because reverence for the laws is one reason those army howitzers fired blanks into the chill noon air—and not at the White House. How many other republics have seen their constitutions and their liberties crushed under tank treads? Our national reverence for law and our military’s respect for civilian authority are two more of the many, many things that make America exceptional among the nations.

There are serious consequences for failure to take care that the laws be faithfully executed. In 1974, the Judiciary Committee of the House of Representatives voted three articles of impeachment against President Richard Nixon. Article III charged Nixon with “failure to take care that the laws be faithfully executed.” Once the Nixon White House tapes were handed over, under order of the Supreme Court, Republicans and Democrats together demanded Nixon’s ouster. No one could deny that a two-year secret campaign of denial, diversion, and obstruction of justice had resulted in, at the very least, a failure to take care that the laws be faithfully executed. Nixon was soon forced to resign.

No one is suggesting that Mr. Obama’s defiance of law will result in his defeat or in his impeachment. What we are suggesting is that he does grave harm to the power and legitimacy of his own high office by his contempt for law. As a former constitutional law professor, he should be the first to uphold the majesty of the law.

We appeal to President Obama: Be true to the Oath you swore on the Lincoln Bible.
You spoke before a cloud of witnesses. We urge you, Mr. President, to maintain respect for law. If you conscientiously disagree with the Defense of Marriage Act, then seek its repeal through proper legislative and judicial channels.

Of course, we will oppose that repeal. We believe that the laws of nature and of nature’s God, so powerfully invoked by our Declaration of Independence, support the civil right of marriage. True marriage is an institution that existed before the republic.

It will be a tragedy of historic proportions if this president, of all presidents, is the one to overturn the civil right of marriage. In 1866, thousands of freedmen and women walked to Tennessee. Many of them walked barefooted. Why? They desperately sought to have their slave marriages recognized in law. Those newly freed Americans understood the civil right of marriage better than do many constitutional law professors today. Let’s preserve marriage. And let’s take care that the laws that defend it be faithfully executed.

Obama's Branches Of Government

by William Warren:
And, the next branch of Government Obama will go after is the Legislative branch or at least who may reside in the legislature and on the courts. Obama is NOT a constitutional scholar; he is a constitutional destroyer.

All good thoughts are thought by other good men and women somewhere in time and space.  Just noted the  following cartoon on my favorite news headline sites (EGOPNews). It addressed my point above about going after the legislative branch as well as the judicial branch.

Party in the GSA

Bankrupting America: he General Services Administration has been in the news for some fairly questionable spending recently. Bankrupting America has uncovered some revealing footage surrounding the infamous conference in Las Vegas and the planning that went into it.

While this video is a parody, the spending examples in it are real. See the Bankrupting America fact sheet below the video.

CNN Politics noted: A day after Martha Johnson, head of the General Services Administration, resigned because of a procurement scandal at the federal agency, officials vowed Tuesday to implement spending reforms and disciplinary action she announced on the way out the door. A letter Monday from now-former GSA Administrator Martha Johnson agreed with the recommendations of the GSA inspector general in a report that documented massive overspending, questionable expenditures and a cavalier attitude toward procurement rules surrounding a regional training conference held in Las Vegas in 2010.

The inspector general's report on the GSA "Western Regions" training conference showed the government spent more than $822,000 for the 300 attendees, including $75,000 on team-building exercises, $6,000 on commemorative coins and $6,000 on canteens, keychains and T-shirts. Johnson said the details in the report are "egregious," and "absolutely unacceptable," and she announced measures that include "disciplinary action against several senior management officials." Johnson's letter to the inspector general did not name names, but a congressional panel late Tuesday said the agency's Public Buildings Service Commissioner Robert Peck was fired.

Bankrupting America Fact Sheet: Party in the GSA!
April 5, 2012

PARTY IN THE GSA:
The 2010 Western Regions Conference
Recently, the Inspector General for the General Services Administration (GSA), released a report on excessive spending at a government conference by the GSA.  According to the Washington Post, “The gathering of 300 employees from the agency’s Public Buildings Service in October 2010 was billed as a ‘Showcase of World-Class Talent’ at the luxury M Resort Spa Casino off the Las Vegas strip. VIPs — including then-buildings chief Robert Peck — stayed in two-story, 2,400-square-foot loft suites with wet bars and multiple HD televisions. There were after-hours parties, a $7,000 sushi reception, $44-per-head-breakfasts, a $3,200 mind reader and $130,000 spent on pre-conference scouting trips.”1 The total tab of the conference was over $820,000.2

The median household income in the U.S. is $51,914.3 It would cost nearly sixteen American households their annual income in order to fund the Western Regions Conference that was held by the Public Buildings Service of the General Services Administration in 2010.

How tax dollars were spent at the GSA Conference
In addition to having a clown and mind reader at the conference,4 here is a look at other examples of government waste from the event:
  • Commemorative Coins
  • Event Planners
  • Contracts Intended for Small Businesses Go to Big Business
  • Catering Costs
  • Team-Building Contractor
  • Award Ceremony
Commemorative Coins
“GSA spent $6,325 on commemorative coins “rewarding” all conference participants (as well as all regional employees who did not attend the conference) for their work on Recovery Act projects, along with velvet boxes to hold the coins. These did not qualify as permissible awards because the coins’ design shows that they were intended to be mementos.”5

Event Planners
“Immediately after posting the solicitation on the Federal Business Opportunities site, a GSA national event planner sent a copy of it to the sales representatives of national hotel chains and to Location Solvers, a private company that assists organizational clients in finding venues for conferences. Location Solvers then informed the M Resort and other independent Las Vegas hotels about GSA’s interest in acquiring a conference facility.

In making its proposal, the M Resort contacted GSA through Location Solvers; Location Solvers also assisted GSA in negotiating pricing and other terms of the agreements for the various trips GSA employees made to the M Resort. In exchange for these services, Location Solvers received a $12,601.50 commission from the M Resort. The M Resort’s willingness to pay over $12,000 as a finder’s fee strongly indicates that further discounts might have been available to GSA if GSA had contacted the hotel directly, rather than working through Location Solvers. Since GSA already employs several full-time event planners, the use of Location Solvers appears to be redundant and wasteful.”6

Contracts Intended for Small Business Go to Big Business
“GSA awarded Royal Productions a $58,808 contract for audio-visual services. The flaws in this procurement included the following:
  • Prior to selecting a vendor for these services, GSA was required to publish a solicitation on Federal Business Opportunities, but did not do so.
  • Federal regulation also provides that contracts in this dollar amount are ‘reserved exclusively for small business concerns.’ Royal Productions is not a small business for purposes of this type of contract.
  • GSA personnel provided the quote from the competing offer or for the audio-visual contract to Royal Productions, enabling it to present a winning bid. Disclosing source information is prohibited.
  • GSA paid the housing expenses of Royal Productions employees twice. Royal Productions’ contract included $1,962 for ‘technical crew housing,’ comprised of $110 per night for three rooms at six nights each. However, GSA also provided the Royal Productions crew with twenty room-nights (four rooms for five nights each) out of its ‘comped’ rooms. (The M Resort contract provided for one free room-night for each 50 paid room-nights.) Had GSA not provided these rooms to the Royal Productions employees, it could have used them for GSA employees, reducing the cost by $1,860 (twenty room-nights at $93 each).”7
Catering Costs
“GSA failed to follow contracting regulations in many of the procurements associated with the WRC and wasted taxpayer dollars. …Promising the hotel an additional $41,480 in catering charges in exchange for the “concession” of the hotel honoring the government’s lodging cost limit.”8

Team-building Contractor
“Disclosing to the team-building contractor the agency’s maximum budget for one day of training, then agreeing to pay the contractor that amount ($75,000).”9

Award Ceremony
“The agenda on the last day included a ‘Cocktail Reception’ at 4:00 pm, a ‘Red Carpet Show’ at 5:30, a ‘Talent Award Showcase’ at 5:50, and dinner with a speaker at 6:20. The only ‘awards’ given during these events were presented during the Talent Award Showcase. There were four non-monetary awards given at that ceremony for musical performances, one for each region.”10

Back Off Mr. President!

Name That Tune
Toon by A.F. "Tony" Branco
Reuters wrote yesterday, “The White House was forced on the defensive on Wednesday as it sought to explain controversial remarks President Barack Obama made earlier in the week about the Supreme Court's review of his signature healthcare reform law. . . . Obama expressed confidence on Monday that the Court would not take an ‘unprecedented, extraordinary step’ by overturning the law, provoking a storm of protest that he had been inaccurate and was challenging the nation's top judges in an election year. . . . During robust questioning when [White House Press Secretary Jay] Carney was told at one point that he had mischaracterized what the president had said, the press secretary was forced to repeatedly defend the remarks of his boss . . . .”

Chairman of The Institute for Constitutional Policy Curtis Coleman in his radio commentary today said, "President has raised new questions about his credentials as a constitutional scholar and lawyer. It was a rare and disturbing glimpse behind the veil of a teleprompter. The President of the United States was suggesting that unelected judges should not consider the constitutionality of a law passed by Congress. Commenting on the anticipated ruling of the Supreme Court on Obamacare, the President warned against “ a lack of judicial restraint” in which “an unelected group of people would somehow overturn a duly constituted and passed law.

"That statement revealed a heretofore suspected and now confirmed fault line in the President’s commitment to the Constitution that would rival the San Andreas fault. That the thought would ever occur to any President that it was not only within the authority but the solemn responsibility of the Supreme Court to consider the Constitutionality of any law passed by Congress – and to overturn it if necessary – is incomprehensible. Such a suggestion from the President of the United States demonstrates a flagrant disregard for the rule of law or a frightening lack of understanding that the United States is a republic, not a democracy – governed not by the whims of society but by the rule of law as expressed in the Constitution of the United States of America."

Speaking at the Rotary Club of Lexington, Kentucky, today, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell discussed his criticism of President Obama’s preemptive complaints about the Supreme Court’s consideration of the president’s health care law. “[A]fter a careful study of the law and the precedents, and after weighing the arguments on both sides, the Court will make its final determination. Whether I agree with it or not, I’ll respect the decision. But, apparently, President Obama didn’t like the tenor of some of the questions the justices asked about the health care law during last week’s hearings, questions that highlighted the unprecedented power that the administration now has over your and everybody else’s health care as a result of its passage. So earlier this week, the President did something that as far as I know is completely unprecedented: he not only tried to publicly pressure the Court into deciding a pending case in the way he wants it decided; he also questioned its very authority under the Constitution.”

He added, “Now, the President’s words were particularly troubling given his past treatment of the Court. Two years ago, he used a State of the Union Address to publicly chastise the Court for its decision in another case he didn’t like — with members of the Court sitting just a few feet away. He looked at the line that wisely separates the three branches of government, and stepped right over it. But what the President did this week went even farther. With his words, he was no longer trying to embarrass the Court after a decision; rather, he tried to intimidate it before a decision has been made. And that should be intolerable to all of us.”

Leader McConnell continued, “[A]t the end of the day, it’s the judiciary that ensures we’re a nation ruled by laws, not the whim of a President or a particular Congress. That’s why the Founders made sure the people who sit on the courts have lifetime appointments. It’s why the Constitution explicitly prohibits Congress from lowering their pay. It’s why justices enjoy the freedom to decide cases as they see fit, even if it means upsetting the very President who appointed them. The truth is, if this law’s in trouble, it’s because giving the government this much power is hard to defend, not because a few justices had the temerity to suggest as much. But the President seems to be saying that you’re an activist if you’re not stretching the limits of the limited powers the Constitution gives to the federal government.”

“We can all disagree about the merits of a President’s policies,” he concluded. “But the American people should be able to expect that their President will defend the independence of the Court, not undermine it, safeguarding and strengthening our country’s institutions, not actively weakening them. The President crossed a dangerous line this week. And anyone who cares about liberty needs to call him out on it. The independence of the Court must be defended. Regardless of how the justices decide this case, they’re answerable, above all, to the Constitution they swore to uphold. The fact that this President does not appear to feel similarly constrained to respect their independence doesn’t change that one bit. So respectfully, I would suggest the President back off.”

America Can’t Tolerate More Liberal Brilliance

Jim Mullen
by Jim Mullen, Contributing Author: Poor, poor, liberals feel so put upon and unappreciated. Their brilliance seems so clear and real to them and Conservatives are obviously dim-witted cretins, they reason, by virtue of their complete lack of awe for the liberal mind. Of course, if their ideas were truly that magnificent, the cities and states they’ve controlled for decades would be unsullied, shining examples of liberals’ superiority instead of the ‘cesspools of despair’ strewn generously about the nation by their regressive, failed experiments.

The multitudes of failures by liberals aren’t necessarily signs they lack talent, It's just that they are unable to get their wispy, cloud-shaped pipedreams to fit into the confining space of reality. For example, they have uncanny abilities to lead the world in repeatedly finding solutions that do not work for real problems, and conjuring up perfect answers to imaginary ones. They find the most ingenious approaches to taking a bad situation and turning it into an intolerable one, and are long-time masters at spotting injustice where none exists.

Likewise, they excel at sticking their arrogant; busybody noses into other peoples’ business, and then become indignant when the objects of their intrusion show any hint of resentment toward that intervention. Job #1 for any liberal is always to feel good about themselves and their sacred quest to interrupt, rearrange, and take charge of the natural order of life, and the flow of humanity. The old saw that the road to hell is paved with good intentions was surely written by a victim of liberalism.

However, the aptitude for which liberals are most infamous is their insistence that other people should accept responsibility for financing progressive idealism. Stealing money and property is illegal and frowned upon throughout most of civil society. Undaunted, however, liberals discovered they could bribe politicians into stealing it for them. Their altruistic endeavors and ‘care for people’ begin and end in the pockets and checkbooks of society’s producers, never their own.

Mesmerized by the Siren song of the left, too many Americans slipped ever so gently and ever so gradually into an intolerable obedience to and dependency upon, government. Where once there stood a proud monument to human possibilities, a hapless people kneels before the all-powerful government about which our Founders warned us.

The fire of liberty in the hearts of our Founders forged this country. Masses of humanity followed from every freedom-starved country in the world. They yearned for just the opportunity at self-determination and prosperity. They came with desire in their soul for success and a strand of DNA that cried for Independence from the constraints of tyrannical governments and religious persecution. That craving not only drove people here, but also led them to excel in their endeavors far beyond anything imaginable in their day and circumstance.

They arrived and encountered hardships, dangers, losses, and prejudice. Yet, they persevered and were thankful for the freedom to succeed and for the strength to face failure. They continued undaunted, fighting for their dreams, and then dared to dream again. They followed the beacon of liberty provided by the Constitution to right legitimate wrongs and did all this with a spirit that inspired the world. We came together and became known uniquely as the unbreakable American spirit.

Nearly every problem in this country germinates from government breaking the restraints placed upon it by the Constitution, then running wild and roughshod over the American people with liberals leading the charge.

Once upon a time, we made our own decisions; earned our own money, saved what we wanted, set our own goals, worked for our families, and passed the idea of American exceptionalism to the next generation. This American strength and character is something of which other nations can only dream, and which many in our country, sadly, have forsaken. People incapable of self-reliance and willing to cede their liberty to socialist-Marxist tyrants are doomed to serfdom.

It began with the Constitution and a pride of ownership by Americans in this land of opportunity, and then devolved into a dependent nation as an increasingly larger segment of society developed freeloading tendencies. They plead on bended knees or riot in the streets demanding that government confiscate the labor rewards of the productive and give it to an unproductive, whining class of ne’er-do-wells.

Subsequently, the parasitic gene replaced the DNA of freedom in much of society and leftists convincingly made their pitch that it was greedy not to cede power and riches for redistribution. The obvious truth is that those coveting the fruits of another’s labor, and a government that sells our freedom for votes, are the very embodiments of greed.

Fruition of any liberal, progressive, or Marxist idea leads from one hell on earth to another. With all that liberals profess to know, their lack of wisdom and understanding remain at the forefront of everything that is wrong with this country. Marxists ravage the land like a plague and leave a trail of heartaches, hopelessness, and evil. They hold the knife of government to the throat of the republic, always demanding more of our rights and riches.

When tallying their final toll of destruction, by far the most pernicious consequences to our country are the losses of liberty and the downfall of American character and pride. The crises created by the wide-eyed Marxist fanatics are ones from which the republic may never recover.

Freedom’s torch has dimmed to a mere flicker, and sadly, we are a nation enslaved by our own government. Did millions of our best young people fight and die to defend us from tyrants and dictators around the world for us to succumb to tyrants and dictators in our own country?

Obama Unhinged

Gary Bauer, Contributing Author:  In his speech to reporters yesterday Barack Obama unleashed a barrage of rhetorical falsehoods and demagoguery at the latest budget proposal by Rep. Paul Ryan, which was approved by House Republicans. Obama went beyond policy disagreements and set out to demonize the GOP with slashing rhetoric and alarming adjectives. The goal of Obama's attack was to portray himself as a moderate or centrist and portray the GOP as extremists.

Here are some of the ways Obama described Ryan's budget: "radical," "a Trojan horse," "a prescription for decline" and "thinly veiled social Darwinism." (That's odd -- I thought liberals were big fans of Darwin.) At one point, Obama even suggested that Ronald Reagan could not win a Republican primary today because the GOP is so extreme. How ironic. When Reagan ran, the left tried to paint him as an unelectable right-wing extremist! They were wrong about Reagan then, and Obama is wrong about the GOP today.

Unbelievably, Obama also complained to his left-wing media allies saying, "This is not a situation where there is equivalence." Translation: Conservatives have no legitimate point of view you should be covering. Once again, Obama's intolerance for dissenting points of view was on full display.

The editors of the Wall Street Journal fired back today and summarized well the president's over-the-top attacks. Here's an excerpt from the Journal's editorial:
"The President's depiction of the wonkish and formerly obscure House Budget Chairman as some political monster is itself telling. Mr. Obama is conceding that he can't run on the economic recovery, the stimulus, health care, green energy or any of the other grand liberal ambitions that have dominated his time in office. All of those are unpopular or failures. He was elected on hope and change, but now his only hope is to change the subject to the ogres he claims are the disloyal opposition. Did you hear about the GOP's red-in-tooth-and-claw plan for Medicare? Grandma and Gramps are going to be drafted for the Hunger Games."If you're not familiar with the Hunger Games, it is a popular movie in which teenagers are forced to fight for food in a post-apocalyptic world.

But the Journal's underlying point is one we have made repeatedly in this daily report: Obama can't run on his record (as you will read below), so he is going to demonize those of us who fight him and his agenda in a desperate attempt to portray the GOP as a worse alternative. Yet in spite of Obama's vicious personal attacks, we keep hearing over and over again that the one thing the GOP establishment is afraid of doing is attacking Obama.

I can guarantee you this much: Obama's entire campaign will be one negative attack after another. According to one reporter, the goal of the Obama campaign is to make the Republican Party radioactive in the next 60 days. They want to so poison people's minds before the campaign traditionally begins in earnest -- after Labor Day -- that there is no chance of the GOP candidate being able to recover by November 6th.

Again, my friends, I'm not trying to discourage you. I am trying to prepare you for the fight that lies ahead so you can help your friends and family members see through Obama's distortions and point out his hypocrisy.

Responses To President Obama's "Attempt To Intimidate The Supreme Court"

Toon by A.F. "Tony Branco
by Sam Adams MMIV: President Obama continues to take criticism for his preemptive attack on the Supreme Court on Monday, when he claimed that if the justices found his health care law to be unconstitutional it “would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress.”

AFP writes today, “Barack Obama's health care blast at the Supreme Court is provoking an inquisition into whether a law professor turned president unwisely trashed political and constitutional convention. Few court watchers can recall a recent precedent for Obama's public warning Monday to the nine top justices in America that his legacy-boosting health reform legislation should stand. Presidents generally avoid comment on cases before the court, to avoid prejudicing proceedings and infecting the respected body with the polarized political stew swamping the rest of Washington.”

Investor Business Daily noted, "Someone will have to remind President Obama the Supreme Court is a co-equal branch of government, part of a system of checks and balances designed to rein in precisely the kind of runaway government exhibited by his administration.

". . . the Supreme Court is designed to . . . determine the constitutionality of laws passed by democratically elected legislatures and Congress. Surely the constitutional law professor has heard of Marbury v. Madison, the 1802 case that formed the basis for the exercise of judicial review in the United States under Article III of the Constitution. It was also the first time in Western history a court invalidated a law by declaring it 'unconstitutional.' Such an action is not unprecedented. ... By one estimate, the Supreme Court has struck down 53 laws between 1981 and 2005 alone.

"The president speaks of a law passed by a 'democratically elected Congress' yet it was a bill no one had read and which House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said we had to pass to find out what was in it. The fact is, most of the rules and regulations are written by unelected bureaucrats authorized by a bill that refers not to 'we the people' but to 'the secretary shall determine.' ... To say the bill passed 'a strong majority' of a democratically elected Congress is an overstatement. The bill passed the House with a vote of 219-212, a majority of seven, with 34 Democrats defecting. ...

"This isn't the first time President Obama has lectured the Supreme Court. In his State of the Union address on Jan. 27, 2010, he shamefully scolded the justices on national television for 'having reversed a century of law' in a ruling in which the court was protecting the freedom of political speech enshrined more than two centuries ago in the First Amendment."

CBS News adds, “President Barack Obama has been running against Congress for a while, but as the Supreme Court weighs the constitutionality of his health care overhaul, recent comments appear to have put him at odds with the courts as well. . . . [Tuesday] was the second straight day the president gave his take on what the high court should do. On Monday, he seemed to suggest the court didn't even have the power to strike down the law.”

American's For Limited Government noted, "Obama is attempting to intimidate the Court by delegitimizing it. That is what is truly behind this intimidation. Which is what you’d expect from a thug dictator like Hugo Chavez or Robert Mugabe, not from the President of the United States. Overtly attacking the Court in such a shameless way is beneath the dignity of his high office. It may be nothing new, but that does not make Obama’s attack on the Court any less contemptible either. One hopes that even if he does not embrace the likely ruling against Obamacare’s constitutionality, he at least complies with it. If not, we may well have an extraordinary constitutional crisis on our hands just months before the election."

Even the Washington Post editors were taken aback by Obama’s initial comments, writing, “President Obama’s comments Monday about the Supreme Court were jarring. If the court were to strike down the health-care law, Mr. Obama said, it would be a blatant example of judicial activism. That ‘an unelected group of people would somehow overturn a duly constituted and passed law,’ the president said, would be ‘an unprecedented, extraordinary step.’ Well, not exactly, and the comments strayed perilously close to a preemptive strike on the court’s legitimacy if it were to declare the individual mandate unconstitutional.”

The Wall Street Journal put it more bluntly in an editorial yesterday: “Mr. Obama's remarks suggest he is joining others on the left in warning the Justices that they will pay a political price if they dare to overturn even part of the law.”

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell took a dim view of President’ Obama’s warnings to the Court, saying yesterday, “Regardless of the Supreme Court’s decision on Obamacare’s unprecedented mandate on the American people, elected leaders have an obligation to protect our system of checks and balances. The President, more than anyone else, has an obligation to uphold the legitimacy of our judicial system. But his remarks on the Court reflect not only an attempt to influence the outcome, but a preview of Democrat attacks to come if they don’t get their way. Only someone who would browbeat the Court during the State of the Union, and whose administration stifled speech during the health care debate, would try to intimidate the Court while it's deliberating one of the most consequential cases of our time. This president's attempt to intimidate the Supreme Court falls well beyond distasteful politics; it demonstrates a fundamental lack of respect for our system of checks and balances.”

House Committee Subpoenas Interior Department on Gulf Coast Report

Lachlan Markay, Heritage Investigates: A House committee issued a subpoena on Wednesday, demanding documents related to the administration’s Gulf Coast drilling permatorium. Republicans on the panel say the administration’s refusal to turn over documents made the action necessary.

At issue is a controversial report issued by the Interior Department to justify its 2010 ban on new drilling permits in the Gulf of Mexico. Interior, at which the subpoena is directed, edited language in a report on the Deepwater Horizon oil spill to give the impression that a team of engineers had approved of the permatorium, when they had not.

In fact, those engineers found that the permatorium “will have a lasting impact on the nation’s economy which may be greater than that of the oil spill.”

The Washington Times reports:
The report accompanying the moratorium appeared to imply that a panel of engineers the administration consulted had agreed with the drilling ban — though the engineers later said they opposed the moratorium and had concluded that drilling generally was safe enough to continue.

“The report falsely stated the professional views of independent engineers and the moratorium directly caused thousands of lost jobs, economic pain throughout the Gulf region and a decline in American energy production. It’s important to clearly understand exactly how this happened,” said Rep. Doc Hastings, Washington Republican, who is Natural Resources Committee chairman.

Adam Fetcher, a spokesman for the Interior Department, said they have made efforts to comply with the committee but said some of the requests would impinge on the executive branch’s ability to deliberate and make decisions.
The Heritage Foundation has extensively documented the damage done to Gulf-area businesses by the administration’s hostility to oil exploration there. Here is a video we produced to document some of the personal consequences of the policy:

Arkansas Governor Beebe Continues Obamacare Push Despite Strong Opposition

Little Rock, Ark. – State lawmakers on the Arkansas Legislative Council will consider several grants to fund President Barack Obama’s health care law this week, including one grant totaling $7.6 million to fund planning for an Obamacare exchange. Republican Party of Arkansas Communications Director Katherine Vasilos released the following statement in response:
“Despite strong opposition, Governor Beebe’s Administration continues its push to implement President Barack Obama’s signature health care law in Arkansas. Clearly, Insurance Commissioner Jay Bradford and Surgeon General Joe Thompson would rather continue wasting tax dollars than allow the U.S. Supreme Court time to rule on the law’s constitutionality.

“Arkansas Democrats need to stop ignoring Obamacare’s economically destructive regulations and mandates and start paying attention to the majority of Arkansans who want the law overturned. Will legislative Democrats continue ‘working hard’ to implement Obamacare and stand with Team Obama this week? Or will they join Republicans in fighting for hardworking Arkansans who oppose the law?

“From added costs on the state’s already exploding Medicaid budget to increased government spending, Obamacare is an undeniable failure and must be ended one way or another.”

Legislative Democrats Argue Constitutionality of Obamacare in Supreme Court Brief, are "Working Hard" to Implement in Arkansas
“Amici Curiae, a group of 518 State Legislators from all 50 States, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, believe that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“the Act”) is constitutional and are working hard in their States to implement the Act in a timely, efficient, and effective manner. They have a substantial interest in having this matter resolved expeditiously and in favor of the constitutionality of the Act.” (Source: Supreme Court Brief – US Department of Health Human Services v Florida)

Government Spending Skyrockets Under Obamacare
"The ACA's provisions related to insurance coverage are now projected to have a net cost of $1,252 billion over the 2012-2022 period (see Table 2, following the text); that amount represents a gross cost to the federal government of $1,762 billion, offset in part by $510 billion in receipts and other budgetary effects (primarily revenues from penalties and other sources)." Americans Want Jobs & Lower Gas Prices - Obama & Dems Want Higher Taxes

Just Six Mo.s Ago, We Learned
Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Fighting
IRS Over Owing $1 Billion In Back Taxes

Message to Buffett -- Write the Check!
Today in Washington, D.C. - April 3, 2012:
With Congress on recess until April 16 (The day after Tax Day), let's look at the some of the reactions to the proposed Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse’s (D-RI) “Buffett Rule” tax hike bill that the Senate Democrats have scheduled a vote on cloture on April 16th. Today, President Obama continues his class-warfare agenda. While he focuses on trying to co-opt again those in the traditional media, the new media is not buying into his agenda.

The AP reports that President Obama is going to push his Buffett tax and attack the house-passed budget authored by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) later today at “a luncheon of 900 editors and publishers following The Associated Press’ annual meeting.” Senate Democrats want to vote on this tax hike when the Senate returns from recess. According to Roll Call, Democrats are eager to return to their “theme of income inequality,” which they think attacking the Ryan budget and pushing yet another tax hike will “underscore.

So with unemployment still over 8% and gas prices approaching an average of $4 per gallon nationwide, the president is instead going to spend time attacking House Republicans for producing a budget that attempts to seriously reform entitlements and tackle the deficit. Of course, the president won’t be mentioning what a contrast this is to his own budgets, which have so far failed to attract a single vote from either party in either the House or Senate. Not to mention that Senate Democrats have failed to produce a budget for 3 years running now.

Not only that, President Obama is doubling down on his Buffet tax, something that will do nothing to lower gas prices nor will it create jobs. It’s worth recalling that the AP reported just a few weeks ago, “A bill designed to enact President Barack Obama's plan for a "Buffett rule" tax on the wealthy would rake in just $31 billion over the next 11 years, according to an estimate by Congress' official tax analysts obtained by The Associated Press. That figure would be a drop in the bucket of the over $7 trillion in federal budget deficits projected during that period. It is also minuscule compared to the many hundreds of billions it would cost to repeal the alternative minimum tax, which Obama's budget last month said he would replace with the Buffett rule tax.”

Roll Call adds, “A senior GOP aide questioned Democrats’ decision to move the Buffett Rule while the chamber has done nothing to address rising gas prices. ‘Who thinks the Senate has finished its work on gas prices or jobs?,’ the aide asked. ‘It’s like they don’t even care about either topic. If one job was created every time Democrats tried to change the subject, America would be well on our way to full employment.’”

Polls consistently show that the economy and gas prices dominate Americans’ concerns. Just last week, Gallup found that “[a] variety of economic-related issues dominate Americans' top concerns on a list of 15 issues facing the country today. The economy and gas prices lead the list, with 71% and 65% of Americans, respectively, saying they personally worry ‘a great deal’ about each. These are followed by federal spending and the budget deficit (60%), the availability and affordability of healthcare (60%), unemployment (55%), Social Security (48%), and the availability and affordability of energy (48%).”

And yet inexplicably Democrats return over and over to “inequality” and tax hikes. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said today, “This is yet another proposal from the White House that won’t create a single job or lower the price at the pump by a penny, but may have the opposite effect. Just as with the President’s proposal to raise taxes on American energy manufacturers and increase the cost of energy, this is yet another sign that the White House is out of ideas and is simply focused on tax hike show-votes rather than pushing for the dozens of jobs and energy bills that have passed the House but are stalled in the Democrat-led Senate.”

Secret Promises - Weak Diplomacy

By A.F. "Tony" Branco:

Note article: Flexible Enough - Are The Russians Sending A Message To Obama Via His Ambassador? "Flexibility for what? In International political intrigue, weakness begets greater threats and deception begets deception. Now ,after U.S. President Barack Obama laid hands Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in South Korea, and solicits more time (for what we don't know) via message to Putin, this week we find the American Ambassador to Russia having his schedule compromised and the Russian News media showing up where ever he is goes. Is former KGB Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sending a signal to President Obama? If so, what is that message? ~ Dr. Bill Smith  Full Fox News Article

Lloyd Marcus: A Black Man, The Progressive’s Perfect Trojan Horse

A year ago Lloyd Marcus published the following article.  It is being again because Lloyd republished his message and artwork yesterday on TEA Party.org - one year later.  Lloyd is indeed black and an unhyphenated American who has composed and sung TEA Party songs and has been a spokesperson and leader at TEA Party events. Marcus is also the Chairman of the Campaign to Defeat Obama and more may be learned about him on his website: LloydMarcus.com

by Lloyd Marcus, Proud Unhyphenated American: As millions of my fellow Americans, I am extremely angry, outraged, and devastated by the Democrats' unbelievable arrogance and disdain for We The People. Despite our screaming "no" from the rooftops, they forced ObamaCare down our throats. Please forgive me for using the following crude saying, but it is very appropriate to describe what has happened. "Don't urinate on me and tell me it's raining."

Democrats say that their mission is to give all Americans health care. The Democrats are lying. Signing ObamaCare into law against our will and the Constitution is tyranny and step one of their hideous goal of having as many Americans as possible dependent on government, thus controlling our lives and fulfilling Obama's promise to fundamentally transform America.

I keep asking myself: How did our government move so far from the normal procedures of getting things done? Could a white president have so successfully pulled off shredding the Constitution to further his agenda? I think not.

Ironically, proving that America is completely the opposite of the evil, racist country they relentlessly accuse her of being, progressives used America's goodness, guilt, and sense of fair play against her. In their quest to destroy America as we know it, progressives borrowed a brilliant scheme from Greek mythology. They offered America a modern-day Trojan Horse, a beautifully crafted, golden, shiny new black man as a presidential candidate. Democrat Joe Biden lauded Obama as the first clean and articulate African-American candidate. Democrat Harry Reid said that Obama uses a black dialect only when he wants to.

White America relished the opportunity to vote for a black man, naïvely believing that they would never suffer the pain of being called racist again. Black Americans viewed casting their vote for Obama as the ultimate Affirmative Action for America's sins of the past.

Then there were the entitlement loser voters who said, "I'm votin' for the black dude who promises to take from those rich SOBs and give to me."

Just as the deceived Trojans dragged the beautifully crafted Trojan Horse into Troy as a symbol of their victory, deceived Americans embraced the progressives' young, handsome, articulate, and so-called moderate black presidential candidate as a symbol of their liberation from accusations of being a racist nation. Also like the Trojan Horse, Obama was filled with the enemy hiding inside.

Sunday, March 21, 2010, a secret door opened in Obama, the shiny golden black man. A raging army of Democrats charged out. Without mercy, they began their vicious, bloody slaughter of every value, freedom, and institution we Americans hold dear, launching the end of America as we know it.

Wielding swords of votes reeking with the putrid odor of backdoor deals, the Democrats landed a severe blow to America and individual rights by passing ObamaCare.

The mainstream liberal media has been relentlessly badgering the Tea Party movement with accusations of racism. Because I am a black Tea Party patriot, I am bombarded with interviewers asking me the same veiled question: "Why are you siding with these white racists against America's first African-American president?" I defend my fellow patriots who are white, stating, "These patriots do not give a hoot about Obama's skin color. They simply love their country and oppose his radical agenda. Obama's race is not an issue."

Recently, I have come to believe that perhaps I am wrong about Obama's race not being an issue. In reality, Obama's presidency has everything to do with racism, but not from the Tea Party movement. Progressives and Obama have exploited his race from the rookie senator's virtually unchallenged presidential campaign to his unprecedented bullying of America into ObamaCare. Obama's race trumped all normal media scrutiny of him as a presidential candidate, and most recently, even the Constitution of the United States. ObamaCare forces all Americans to purchase health care, which is clearly unconstitutional.

No white president could get away with boldly and arrogantly thwarting the will of the American people and ignoring laws. President Clinton tried universal health care. Bush tried social security reform. The American people said "no" to both presidents' proposals, and that was the end of it. So how can Obama get away with giving the American people the finger? The answer: He is black.

The mainstream liberal media continues to portray all who oppose Obama in any way as racist. Despite a list of failed policies, overreaches into the private sector, violations of the Constitution, and planned, destructive pieces of legislation too numerous to mention in this article, many Americans are still fearful of criticizing our first black president. Incredible.

My fellow Americans, you must not continue to allow yourselves to be "played" and intimidated by Obama's race or the historical context of his presidency. If we are to save America, the greatest nation on the planet, then Obama's progressive agenda must be stopped.

Estimated Loss of Health Coverage Under Obamacare

by Alison Meyer, Heritage Foundation: President Obama has  reassured Americans that if they like their current health insurance, they can keep it.

“If you’ve got health insurance through your employer, you can keep your health insurance, keep your choice of doctor, keep your plan,” Obama insisted on Oct. 15, 2008.
But two years after signing the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act into law, Obama gave many Americans a false sense of security that Obamacare won’t change the status quo.

Four reputable research institutions have run the numbers and found that not only is Obama’s claim false, but employees will be dropped from their current coverage by the millions. This week’s chart outlines each of the four studies.
As Obamacare is implemented, employers will find it increasingly hard to comply. The authors of “Why Obamacare is Wrong for America” explain:
Behind the scenes, the White House needed to keep employers in the game so they would continue to finance the great majority of private health insurance. But after the law was enacted, the Obama administration invented new rules for his ‘grandfathering’ protection so that it was much harder for employers to comply. To be protected from a barrage of costly new mandates, an employer has to fit into a straitjacket, limiting the changes it can make to its existing plans.
Because the mandates on employers are so restrictive, they are not incentivized to hold coverage on employees. The result: Many employers will be better off financially if they drop coverage for employees, pay the penalty, and increase their workers’ wages as an offset, according to former Congressional Budget Office director Douglas Holtz-Eakin, who currently heads the American Action Forum.

Speaking at Friday’s YG Network Summit event on health care, Dan Elling, staff director for the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Health, put it this way:
Eight out of 10 small employer health insurance plans are going to have to change the benefits packages available. That’s not being able to keep the plan you have.
There’s a small business owner with 58 employees from Missouri who runs a property casualty insurance business. He would be able to save $300,000 in 2014 alone by dumping his health insurance, and paying a $2,000 penalty under the employee mandate, and ship all this cost to the taxpayer.

So the backward incentives that are set up under the current law for employers to dump health insurance is the exact opposite message that we should try to be sending, which is first you got health insurance, great, lets try to make it better for you. We’re not going to make it more expensive.
