Florida Man Has Fender Bender In Manhattan

by Ann Coulter: A man in a Home Depot truck deliberately drove into a bike path in lower Manhattan on Tuesday, mowing down cyclists and pedestrians, crashed into a school bus, then fled the truck, brandishing fake guns and shouting "Allahu akbar!" He was shot by a policeman and taken to the hospital. At least eight people were left dead and many more injured.

Those are the facts, but facts don't matter. In cases like this, what counts is the spin. The post-Islamic-attack commentary goes more like this ...

So far, the only concrete information we have about the driver is that he was a lone attacker, he is from Florida, and he has recently been living in New Jersey.

In the bubble of your white-skinned privilege, I know you badly wanted this to be a dark-skinned person, a foreigner -- the "other" -- but you're just going to have to accept the fact that the driver was a guy from Florida. Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov -- just another homegrown terrorist.

Going forward, our most urgent task as a country is to figure out how to defeat Islamophobia. I plan to spend the rest of the week shaming Islamophobes on Twitter and Facebook.

For clarity, immediately after the incident, sources inside the New York Police Department debunked the "terrorism" narrative, saying that it was an incident of road rage between two truck drivers. At a press conference hours later, Police Commissioner James O'Neill refused to confirm whether the suspect had shouted "Allahu akbar" and declined to state the attacker's name or nationality.

I don't know why, since he's from Florida. But the bigotry of Islamophobia doesn't always pay attention to details.

Contrary to the toxic delusions of Faux News hosts, white men are a BIGGER domestic terrorist threat than Muslim foreigners.

Although some of these assailants were born elsewhere, "extreme vetting" is not only racist, but most important, it doesn't work. An intelligence assessment by the Department of Homeland Security in March of this year found that most foreign-born U.S. terrorists become "radicalized" only after living in America for a number of years. Traditional masculinity, whiteness and heteronormativity are the root causes of terrorism.

Chillingly, Tuesday's attack was predicted by an ad released just a day earlier against Virginia gubernatorial candidate Ed Gillespie. The ad, produced by the Latino Victory Fund, shows a white man in a pickup truck with a Confederate flag and a Gillespie campaign sticker chasing down innocent Hispanic and Muslim children.

We don't yet know if all the victims of Tuesday's attack were Mexican children.

The truth is, we are, as Phil Donahue used to say, a deeply racist society. If the perpetrator -- again, Florida man Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov -- was a person of color, this just proves it. Sayfullo was probably so ground down by Islamophobia that he felt the only option left to him was the event in lower Manhattan. This incident encapsulates the breadth of the battle against racism we have to fight every day in this country.

Perhaps Sayfullo could be faulted for blocking the bikers' lane, but the rest was the natural reaction to a society where, night after night, Fox News hosts indoctrinate viewers in irrational hatred toward "Islamic extremism."

Since announcing his candidacy, Donald Trump has done very little to make Muslims feel their space is safe. Immediately after the election, the Southern Poverty Law Center documented 140,849 reports of hijabs being ripped off marginalized Muslim women on college campuses across the nation.

Ironically, Trump wants to end the very "diversity lottery" that allowed Sayfullo to come to this country in the first place! The LAST thing we want to do is alienate members of this community. We need more members of the community to come here, so they can warn us about other members of their community.

New York's bad-ass governor, Andrew Cuomo, said it best: NEW YORKERS WILL NOT BE INTIMIDATED. Ordinary people who don't have security guards will have to learn to live with the occasional "terrorist attack." True patriotism is having faith in this country's ability to respond creatively, with extra airport screening, bollards, closed circuit cameras, check points, heavy policing and fewer public events.

If we truly, as a country, are committed to the American ideal of justice and equality for all, we can't wait until a crisis happens to build bridges, educate, counteract false narratives and foster peace.

I want to believe that a massive re-education program about white privilege would work. But at this point, we might have sunk too deep into our own Eurocentric entitlement for white people to begin to unpack their privilege.

What I would really like to have, but despair of ever having, is an honest conversation about race, requiring white Americans to sit down and patiently listen to hours and hours of angry denunciations of their privilege.

Perhaps the Latino Victory Fund could lead it.

But unfortunately, we are a nation of cowards. I know it takes balls to say that, but, like Gov. Cuomo, I am all balls.

Amazing New Breakthrough to Reduce Mass Shootings!

by Ann Coulter: As fun as it is to ridicule the FBI for devoting massive resources to chasing down Hillary Clinton's oppo research while blowing off repeated, specific warnings about school shooter Nikolas Cruz, we've put a lot on the agency's plate.

We're hauling in nearly 2 million manifestly unvetted Third World immigrants every year, leading to a slew of FBI "Watch Lists" with a million names apiece. In 2015, Director James Comey said that there were ISIS investigations in all 50 states -- even Idaho and Alaska! And that's just one terrorist organization.

Maybe the FBI brass would still be a bunch of incompetent, PC nincompoops if we weren't dumping millions of psychotic and terrorist foreigners on the country. But even the most efficient organization would have trouble keeping track of the Nikolas Cruzes when our immigration policies require approximately one-third of the country to be constantly watching another third of the country.

Thanks to our Second Amendment, the United States has fewer mass shootings per capita than many other developed countries, including Norway, France, Switzerland, Finland, Belgium and the Czech Republic. (And 98 percent of our mass shootings occur in "gun-free zones.")

But imagine if we could cut our mass shootings in half?

There have been about 34 mass shootings since 2000. Forty-seven percent -- 16 -- were committed by first- and second-generation immigrants, i.e. people who never would have been here but for Teddy Kennedy's 1965 immigration act.

And the immigrant mass shootings have been some of the most spectacular ones, such as Fort Hood and San Bernardino. Two of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history, at Virginia Tech in 2007 and at the Pulse Nightclub in 2016, were committed by first- and second-generation immigrants, i.e., people who were in this country because Teddy was pouting in his room and refused to come out until he got his own legacy.

(Excluded from both lists: the Las Vegas shooting, because law enforcement has released nothing but lies about it, so that shooting remains unclassifiable; family dispute shootings; targeted assassinations of police officers; and shootings on Indian reservations.)

Here's the list of immigrant mass shootings, defined as a shooting at the same general time and location, not during the commission of another crime, that leaves at least four people dead -- i.e. no gangland shootings, no "man kills family, then self" and no drug deals gone bad.

On account of the Rule of Journalism that permits the word "immigrant" to be used only in sentences with the word "valedictorian," you may not have heard of some of these mass shootings at all.

1) Omar Mateen, son of Afghan immigrants, killed 49 people at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando on June 12, 2016.

2) First- and second-generation Pakistani immigrants Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik opened fire at a community center Christmas party in San Bernardino, California, on Dec. 2, 2015, killing 14 people.

3) English immigrant Christopher Harper-Mercer killed 9 people at Umpqua Community College in southwest Oregon on Oct. 1, 2015.

4) Kuwaiti immigrant Mohammad Youssef Abdulazeez shot and killed five people in attacks on two military installations in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on July 16, 2015.

5) Second-generation Malaysian immigrant Elliot Rodger killed six people on May 23, 2014, around the campus of the University of California, Santa Barbara.

6) Second-generation immigrant John Zawahri opened fire at his Southern California home and later at the campus of Santa Monica College on June 7, 2013, killing five in all. (The New York Times never mentioned that he was the child of Lebanese immigrants. The Times didn't even mention that his father used to beat up his mother, despite that paper's usual heightened interest in stories about men being mean to women.)

7) Cuban immigrant Pedro Alberto Vargas fatally shot six people in his apartment complex in Hialeah, Florida, on July 26, 2013.

8) Probable Barbadian immigrant Aaron Alexis shot and killed 12 people inside the Washington Navy Yard on Sept. 16, 2013. (See this.)

9) South Korean immigrant One L. Goh opened fire at Oikos University in Oakland, California, killing seven people on April 2, 2012.

10) Mexican immigrant Eduardo Sencion shot up an IHOP in Carson City, Nevada, on Sept. 6, 2011, killing four people -- three National Guardsmen and a 67-year-old woman.

11) Second-generation immigrant Nidal Malik Hasan, son of Palestinian immigrants, killed 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas, on Nov. 5, 2009.

12) Vietnamese immigrant Jiverly Wong shot up the Binghamton, New York, American Civic Association on April 3, 2009, killing 13.

13) Bosnian immigrant Sulejman Talovic fatally shot five people at the Trolley Square Mall in Salt Lake City on Feb. 12, 2007.

14) Seung-Hui Cho, a South Korean immigrant, slaughtered 32 people at Virginia Tech on April 16, 2007.

15) Hmong immigrant Chai Soua Vang killed six hunters in northern Wisconsin on Nov. 21, 2004.

16) Mexican immigrant Salvador Tapia shot up the Windy City Core Supply warehouse in Chicago in 2003, killing six of his former co-workers.

If you missed your favorite immigrant mass shooting, please note that I excluded Jamaican immigrant Colin Ferguson (Long Island Railroad massacre in 1993); Nigerian immigrant Peter Odighizuwa (Appalachian School of Law shooting in 2002); Haitian illegal immigrant Kesler Dufrene (North Miami shooting in 2012); and Nigerian immigrant Henry Williams Obotetukudo (Bronx-Lebanon Hospital shooting in 2017). We are only counting mass shootings since 2000 that left at least four people dead.

First- and second-generation immigrants have committed more than 40 percent of all mass shootings since 2000. I know we've been admitting Third World immigrants at a breakneck pace, but I don't think immigrants make up nearly half the population yet.

Once we exclude the immigrant mass shooters, a clearer pattern emerges. The typical American perpetrator is a young man with paranoid schizophrenia -- or, as we're now euphemistically calling it, "autism" -- probably exacerbated by pot, a deadly combo platter.

An immigration moratorium and widespread deportations would not only cut mass shootings in half, but it would also free up the FBI's time to focus on these delusional young men with the terrifying stare, who hear voices no one else hears.

Young men like Nikolas Cruz.

Creating Inaugural Chaos, Jihadist Families, Trump Meets MLK III

by Gary Bauer, Contributing Author:   Creating Inaugural Chaos -  James O'Keefe and Project Veritas infiltrated a group of far-left anarchists who are plotting to create chaos during Friday's inauguration of Donald Trump. The group plans to do everything it can to shut down the Deploraball, a grassroots pro-Trump event being held at the National Press Club.

Radical activists want to plant butyric acid or stink bombs in the building's ventilation system. On the video, one radical said, "If you had a pint of butyric acid, I don't care how big the building is, it is closing." Another replies: "And this stuff is very efficient, it's very, very smelly, and it lasts a long time."

If the butyric acid fails, Plan B is to set off the building's sprinkler system.

There was also a threat directed at local officials and law enforcement. One demonstrator can be heard in the video saying:


"The message has to be, we do not recognize the city government either. If you try to close us down we will look for your house, we will burn it. We will physically fight the police if they try to steal one of our places. We will go to war and you will lose."Meanwhile, a growing number of left-wing extremists are taking an entirely different approach -- they are staying away from the inauguration. So far, more than 40 congressional Democrats have stated their plans to boycott Trump's inaugural ceremony.

They represent the hard-core, activist left of the party. Not surprisingly, about half of the group comes from California, Massachusetts and New York. And more than a dozen also boycotted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech before a joint session of Congress.

Among the boycotters are Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), a leading candidate for chairman of the Democratic National Committee, and Rep. John Lewis (D-GA). As I noted yesterday, Lewis made headlines over the weekend for questioning the legitimacy of Trump's election.

Sunday Lewis told NBC's Chuck Todd, "I don't plan to attend the inauguration. It will be the first one that I miss since I've been in the Congress. You cannot be at home with something that you feel that is wrong, is not right."

It turns out that Trump's inauguration isn't the first one he will have missed. Lewis boycotted George W. Bush's inauguration in 2001 because he questioned the legitimacy of Bush's presidency as well.

Jihadist Families -  There was breaking news yesterday that Noor Salman, wife of Orlando shooter Omar Mateen, was arrested in San Francisco. She is charged with obstruction of justice and aiding and abetting ISIS. Mateen, as you know, killed 49 people in an Orlando nightclub last summer.

Orlando Police Chief John Mina said, "There's no doubt in my mind . . . that she knew, that she aided and that she could have prevented this tragedy."

After virtually every terrorist attack, officials have rushed to tell us that these events were carried out by "lone wolves." But that isn't always the case. Jihadist families have carried out many of these atrocities.

In San Bernardino, Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik, a husband and wife hit team, gunned down 14 people. Other Farook family members were later arrested on conspiracy charges. And the Boston Marathon bombing was carried out by the Tsarnaev brothers, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar.

By the way, six of the 9/11 hijackers were brothers. Two of the five terrorists who attacked Brussels last year were brothers. And two brothers, Cherif and Said Kouachi, led the 2015 attack on Charlie Hebdo. In fact, one study reportedly found that as many as 30% of terrorist attacks are carried out with the help of family members, driven by their close relationships and their shared vision of what Islam requires of them.

This is why Donald Trump has repeatedly said that we need more cooperation from the Muslim community and concerned neighbors in order to stop these attacks from happening.

Trump Meets MLK III - Yesterday, as the nation honored the legacy of Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., President-elect Trump met with the oldest son of the slain civil rights leader, Martin Luther King III. King briefly spoke to reporters afterwards and was repeatedly baited and begged by the so-called "journalists" to attack Donald Trump.

King resisted. He reiterated that he had a "very constructive meeting" and that he looked forward to working with the new Trump/Pence Administration to make America a greater nation.

While the left and its media allies are doing their best to portray Trump as a racist, a number of black leaders have heard Donald Trump talk about revitalizing our inner cities and they have reached out to him.

For example, comedian Steve Harvey met with Donald Trump last week. After their meeting, Harvey tweeted, "I walked away feeling like I had just talked with a man who genuinely wants to make a difference."

Unfortunately, Harvey is not feeling any love from the left. He has received an avalanche of hate, the same kind conservatives face every day. On his radio show yesterday, Harvey said, "On a personal note, a lot of ya'll hurt me. You really did. I didn't expect the backlash to be so fierce."

In Case You Missed It -

• A big feminist march is taking place the day after the inauguration on Saturday, January 21st. March organizers just kicked out one of the co-sponsoring groups. Were they kicked out because they were too radical? Did they threaten violence? No, the group was banished because it is pro-life.
• Bikers for Trump is bringing thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts to Washington, D.C., for the inaugural festivities. They are promising to form a "wall of meat" to protect those trying to enjoy the day's events from the left-wing fanatics who will be here trying to create chaos. By the way, ads are reportedly running in nearly two dozen cities offering $2,500 to individuals willing to protest during the inauguration.
• A disturbing new Pew poll underscores the damage Barack Obama has done to Israel. After eight years of anti-Israel hostility emanating from the White House, Democrats are almost evenly divided in their sympathies between our ally Israel and the Palestinians.

According to Pew, 33% of Democrats say they sympathize more with Israel, while 31% say they sympathize more with the Palestinians. Among liberal Democrats, it's even worse: 38% sympathize more with the Palestinians and just 26% sympathize more with Israel. Republicans, meanwhile, overwhelmingly stand with Israel -- 74% to 11%.

Sadly, the pro-Israel Democrat Party of Harry Truman and former Senator Joseph Lieberman is disappearing before our eyes.

This could be work place violence, or perhaps someone offended the shooters, Syed Rizwan Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik.

Really? Here's what we know:

• Farook seemed to become more religiously devout in recent months. He recently grew his beard out. His father described his son this way, "He was very religious. He would go to work, come back, go to pray, come back. He's Muslim."
• The Wall Street Journal reports that Farook traveled to Saudi Arabia last year. Authorities believe he went for religious reasons, perhaps to make the Hajj -- a pilgrimage to Mecca.
• According to the Los Angeles Times, a co-worker claims that "Farook recently traveled to Saudi Arabia to meet a woman he met online and returned with a new wife."
• Neighbors say Farook often worked in his garage late into the evening. A man who worked in Farook's neighborhood said he saw "a half-dozen Middle Eastern men in the area in recent weeks," but said nothing because "he did not wish to racially profile" anyone.
• The attack was clearly premeditated. The couple reportedly left their six month-old daughter with Farook's mother in the morning, claiming they had doctor's appointments.
• Yet Farook went to the holiday party at the Inland Regional Center, where there was supposedly some kind of disturbance. He left and returned about 20 minutes later, this time with his wife, heavily armed and wearing body armor. That's not the usual response of someone who gets into an argument at a holiday work party. Perhaps it was another mysterious case of "sudden jihad syndrome."
• Authorities report that they found multiple pipe bombs and other explosives at the scene, in their vehicle and at Farook's house, which they described as an "IED factory." This strongly suggests premeditation, as does the fact that the attack took place at a holiday party just before Chanukah and Christmas.

Yet with all of this information, the entire left is wagging its finger at the American public, warning about "jumping to any conclusions." As one FBI official sadly put it, terrorism "is a possibility, but . . . we're not willing to go down that road yet."

What exactly would it take for our politically correct elites to "go down that road"? The fact that ISIS extremists immediately began celebrating the attack with the disgusting hashtag "#America_burning" should have tipped them off.

This just in. . . Authorities now say that Farook had been in contact "with more than one international terrorism subject." Maybe now the politically correct media will admit the obvious. Maybe.

The Left's Agenda - The left's ideologically-driven agenda was impossible to miss yesterday.

Within moments of the first reports of shots fired, the media rushed to locate the nearest Planned Parenthood facility. Talk about jumping to conclusions!

Meanwhile, as people inside the Inland Regional Center were being gunned down by jihadis, the media were quick to tell us that workers at a nearby abortion facility were safe. (What about the babies at that facility?)

Just days ago, the very same left-wing media and political establishment took two words -- "baby parts" -- and rushed to smear the entire pro-life community because of the actions of one deranged man.

Left-wing reporters were eager to "go there" again yesterday. But no one in the media was calling on imams and other Muslim leaders to stop their outrageous rhetoric and calls for jihad against infidels.

Unbelievably, the only thing the left can get angry about in the aftermath of this attack is gun ownership and God.

President Obama, Geraldo Rivera and other left-wing politicians and pundits immediately attacked the Second Amendment yesterday -- even though all the guns used were legally purchased.

Just what law is the president proposing that would have prevented yesterday's attack? Is Obama suggesting that no Muslim man between the ages of 18 and 50 be allowed to buy guns? I seriously doubt it.

But the attack on faith is even more disgusting -- and very telling about the left's growing intolerance. The cover page of the New York Daily News mocks the tweets of prominent Republicans offering their prayers for the victims with this headline: "God Isn't Fixing This."

One left-wing senator got in on the act too, tweeting, "Your 'prayers' should be for forgiveness if you do nothing -- again."

This should be a wake-up call for men and women of faith. The culture war in America is real and only one side can prevail.

I believe a culture with greater faith in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob -- a culture that values the sanctity of life, all life, including unborn children -- CAN fix this.

America will not become a better nation by marginalizing faith and mocking God. Unless America rededicates itself to the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Jesus, it is very doubtful whether we will survive the increasing danger we face at home and abroad.

This is the God Judeo-Christian civilization is built upon. This is the God who is mentioned in the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence as the author of our liberties.

Continued efforts to mock that God and the values that made this nation are why so many Americans feel they no longer recognize the country they are living in.

The Orlando Terrorist Attack Is The Price We Pay For Not Destroying ISIS

President Obama thinks terror attacks like the Orlando nightclub massacre are an acceptable price to pay for American nonintervention in the Middle East.

by John Daniel Davidson: In the wake of the Orlando terrorist attack, which left 50 dead and for which ISIS claimed responsibility on Sunday, there’s one question we probably will not debate seriously: whether we should return to the Bush doctrine and shut down terrorist safe havens overseas, and specifically whether we should deploy troops to the Middle East to destroy ISIS.

Instead, gun control and anti-gay bigotry will be the going concerns, especially among our liberal and media elite in the days ahead, just as they were in the hours after the attack. Partisans on the Left believe they can bend those aspects to their advantage in domestic political battles, and that’s what they’ll talk about.

Indeed, it only took President Barack Obama a few minutes in his remarks Sunday afternoon to suggest that one of the proper responses to Orlando would be to pass stricter gun-control measures. This is one of the president’s favorite talking points after a “mass shooting,” regardless of who does the shooting or why. It matters little that the shooter, Omar Mateen, was armed with firearms he appears to have acquired legally, or that he was a licensed security guard and thus wasn’t the type of person who would be denied a firearm even under a far stricter gun control regime.

Obama Doesn’t Think Terrorism Is A Big Deal
No matter. We will hear more about gun control. But we won’t hear the president announce a new foreign policy to defeat ISIS because on a fundamental level Obama think these kinds of terrorist attacks are an acceptable price to pay for American nonintervention in the Middle East.

A passage from Jeffery Goldberg’s lengthy piece in the April edition of The Atlantic, “The Obama Doctrine,” captures the essence of Obama’s thinking about ISIS and radical Islamic terrorism generally. In the immediate aftermath of the Paris attacks last November, Obama, who had been on a globe-spanning presidential trip when the attacks occurred, was lambasted for failing to understand the fear among many Americans that something like that might happen here. But there was a reason Obama appeared to be unmoved, and it wasn’t just jet lag. Goldberg goes on to note that

Obama has never believed that terrorism poses a threat to America commensurate with the fear it generates. Even during the period in 2014 when ISIS was executing its American captives in Syria, his emotions were in check. Valerie Jarrett, Obama’s closest adviser, told him people were worried that the group would soon take its beheading campaign to the U.S. ‘They’re not coming here to chop our heads off,’ he reassured her. Obama frequently reminds his staff that terrorism takes far fewer lives in America than handguns, car accidents, and falls in bathtubs do.Obama’s courtiers in the media often parrot this talking point, in some cases explicitly following the president’s instructions to tally up the number of Americans who’ve been killed by terrorist attacks and compare them to the number of those killed by gun violence. It’s a useful exercise if you want to minimize the threat of terrorism and push for stricter gun control, but it doesn’t do much to address the central problem of radical Islamic terrorist attacks on U.S. soil.

That, of course, was precisely what the Bush doctrine tried to address in the wake of 9/11. The idea was that terrorist safe havens could not be allowed to persist anywhere in the world, especially in distant and largely ungoverned places like Afghanistan, where Al Qaeda had ample time to marshal resources and plan attacks. We would have to go over there, not just for revenge but specifically to preempt future plots against the West. “We’re going to smoke them out,” President Bush said a week after 9/11, adding, “The Taliban must take my statements seriously.” Two weeks later, American and British forces were bombing Taliban and Al Qaeda forces in northern Afghanistan.

Obama, elected partly on a promise to end America’s post-9/11 wars and bring troops home from Iraq and Afghanistan, effectively repudiated this doctrine. He withdrew U.S. forces from Iraq in 2011 and formally ended combat operations in Afghanistan in 2014. In both cases, Obama claimed the governments of those countries could, with minimal assistance from America, deal with the terrorist groups still operating in their countries. Of course, we still have troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the numbers of U.S. soldiers deployed in combat roles have been quietly increasing as it becomes clear that those governments are not up to the task of fighting ISIS and a resurgent Taliban.

The Case For Wiping Out ISIS
There is, of course, a strong argument for deploying a substantial number of ground troops to Iraq and Syria and wiping out ISIS once and for all. The mere existence of the group emboldens radical Muslims and ISIS sympathizers across the globe, who don’t seem to care if ISIS fighters are losing ground in Syria and Iraq. The perception is that they are ascendant. After all, they have survived this long, defying the United States and other western powers that have called for their destruction but been unwilling to carry it out.

Arguably, destroying ISIS would show the Mateens of the world that ISIS is a lost cause. Like the San Bernardino shooters Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik, Mateen was inspired by ISIS but likely had no direct contact with the group. He allegedly called 911 just before he launched his attack and pledged allegiance to ISIS, and indeed may have been thinking about something like this for years. The FBI investigated him twice, in 2013 and 2014, after he implied to co-workers that he had ties to terrorists.

For its part, ISIS has encouraged these kind of attacks against civilians, and will continue to do so. It might turn out that a man armed with guns and explosives, whom the FBI arrested Sunday and who admitted he was planning to attend a gay pride parade in Los Angeles, was also inspired by ISIS. It might turn out that we see much more of this in the coming weeks, since ISIS has encouraged its followers to carry out attacks during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which goes until July 5.

But no matter how many Orlandos or San Bernardinos we have, it will not convince Obama that radical Islamic terrorism is enough of a threat to justify the cost of denying terrorist groups safe haven overseas. More to the point, returning to some version of the Bush doctrine doesn’t help Obama in his domestic political battles, which are the true objects of his foreign policy. But there is a cost to that, too, and we are likely to keep paying it in American lives lost—not overseas, but here at home.
