Trump Continues to Move Agenda, Despite Media
by Newt Gingrich: The media has been fully fixated on the eminent confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the United States Supreme Court, but in the meantime, President Trump has once again proven his trade strategy is paying off.
In case you missed it, President Trump has effectively replaced the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which he has promised to do since the campaign and the institutional elites said was impossible. In the final hours leading up to a US-imposed deadline, Canada relented and agreed to join a new agreement that Trump had negotiated with Mexico, thus the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) was born. All that is left now is for Congress and the legislative bodies of Canada and Mexico to sign off on the deal.
This was a critical step in President Trump’s effort to bring fairness back into US trade policies. I discuss this in my New York Times best seller Trump’s America: The Truth About Our Nation’s Great Comeback.
This updated trade regime with Mexico and Canada will mean auto-industry jobs will return to North America from overseas. By 2020, cars sold in the US that have fewer than 75 percent of their parts made in countries other than the US, Canada, or Mexico will face tariffs. This percentage under NAFTA was 62.5 percent.
Further, the North American auto-making playing field will be leveled under the new agreement. By 2023, 40 percent of the work done on cars made in the US, Mexico, and Canada, will have to be completed by workers making at least $16 an hour. Additionally, companies, particularly those in Mexico, will have to operate under new environmental and labor regulations that are more in line with regulations faced by companies in the United States.
This is a great example of how President Trump is not a traditional conservative – but is instead extremely pro-American. Republicans are not typically associated with more stringent environmental or labor rules, but in this case, it will ensure that fair competition is maintained within the North American automotive sector – a key point that was missing from NAFTA that led to many jobs leaving America.
The new agreement also puts in place much tougher rules about protecting intellectual property. This will mean a great deal to American manufacturers and innovators. Drug companies, for example, spend billions of dollars to research, develop, and deploy new medications, only to see foreign countries effectively ignore their patent rights. That means US patients are providing a disproportionate share of the return on investment for biopharmaceuticals. In other words, foreign countries are freeloading off of US patients. Under the new agreement, biopharmaceutical propriety information will be protected for at least a full 10 years, bringing their rules closer to alignment with the United States. The result will be more dollars flowing to research and development, leading to more new cures and treatments.
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker can take some credit for one of the biggest successes of the new agreement. For years, Governor Walker has fought to pressure Canada to open up its highly-protected, unfair dairy market. In fact, Walker’s fight with the Canadian dairy trade is where much of this focus on Canada started. That tightly controlled dairy market is set to loosen up, which will be a significant boon to dairy farmers in Wisconsin and surrounding states.
Virtually everyone in the elite media is missing – or ignoring – that this updated, stronger relationship with our neighbors will help give President Trump better leverage to fight for American interests in trade negotiations with Europe and Asia.
This is of course anathema to the old guard elites who believe that American administrations should put global interests ahead of our own. At every turn, this group has criticized President Trump for his use of tariffs – or the threat of tariffs – in trade negotiations. They have consistently cried that the President’s policies on trade would lead to a worldwide economic recession. This is the narrative the elite media has happily parroted.
Yet, The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday that the outperformance and continual improvement of the US economy is actually lifting government bond yields. This, among other indicators, proves that the sky-is-falling, doomsday warnings of the elite globalists have simply not materialized.
The elites have not come around to the idea that trade and diplomacy are separate. Unfair trade agreements destroy US jobs. The objective of US trade policy should be job creation – not international relations.
While this may shock the conscience of globalists on network news and at institutions, like the Council on Foreign Relations, it has been understood for decades by the US working class. President Trump was simply the first to listen.
When will the elite US media wake up to reality and see that the President is making good deals for Americans?

by Michael Rainey: The job market is “sizzling,” says Moody's Analytics chief economist Mark Zandi, thanks in part to the deficit-financed tax cuts and government spending increases that went into effect this year.
The unemployment rate fell to a 49-year low of 3.7 percent last month, the government reported on Friday, as employers added 134,000 jobs. Zandi thinks the stronger economic growth we’re seeing right now is probably temporary, but even so it should be enough to reduce the unemployment rate to the “low 3s” later this year.
“The last time unemployment was as low was in the Korean War when 10 percent of the American workforce was fighting the war," Zandi toldPolitico’s Ben White.
Reuters’ Howard Schneider says the strong jobs report is the latest confirmation that the economy is finally getting back to normal 10 years after the onset of the global financial crisis. Higher interest rates are another sign of a return to more typical economic conditions. Treasury rates jumped sharply this week, with the 10-year climbing above 3.2 percent on Friday, the highest level since 2011.
Schneider says that current fiscal and monetary policies will likely continue to push rates higher in the coming months:
“To pay for the Republican tax cuts and the bump in defense spending, the Treasury is flooding the market with bonds at a near-record pace, with gross issuance of bills, notes and bonds in August topping $1 trillion in a month for only the second time ever, according to federal SIFMA data.
“To sell all those bonds, the Treasury may have to pay higher rates. Meanwhile, a major customer, the Fed, whose purchases of $3.5 trillion of assets during and after the crisis helped foster the recovery, has started shrinking its bond portfolio by $50 billion a month.”While higher rates can be seen as a welcome sign of a healthier economy, they could cause problems if they rise too fast, Schneider says. Higher rates make home and auto loans and other forms of credit more expensive, potentially creating a drag on economic growth — and they raise the interest cost of our national debt.

Kavanaugh Advances, Something To Celebrate, Pence Takes On China, Fighting For Faith
Gary Bauer
by Gary Bauer, Contributing Author: Kavanaugh Advances - The Senate voted 51-to-49 this morning to begin 30 hours of debate on Judge Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court.
Senators Collins (R-ME), Flake (R-AZ) and Manchin (D-WV) voted to move forward with the debate, while Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) voted with Senate Democrats to filibuster Kavanaugh's nomination.
Just moments ago on the Senate floor, Sen. Collins blasted the confirmation process as a "caricature of a gutter-level political campaign." She called Julie Swetnick's accusations of gang rape "outlandish."
She pointed out one inconsistency after another in Dr. Ford's testimony, and declared that the Senate must not abandon the presumption of innocence. As a result, Sen. Collins announced that she would support Judge Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation.
If Collins is with us, then Kavanaugh's confirmation this weekend is likely assured, assuming we hold Jeff Flake and Joe Manchin.
Senator Manchin's public statements indicate that he wants to vote yes. So that gets us down to Senator Jeff Flake.
The last statement he made when he cut his deal with Senate Democrats last week was that Kavanaugh would have his vote as long as an additional FBI investigation found no corroborating evidence. And this afternoon Flake indicated that he planned to vote for Kavanaugh's confirmation, "unless something big changed."
One final thought. I understand why left-wing Democrats are doing what they are doing. But does Senator Murkowski really not understand that she is part of the left's scheme to destroy Judge Kavanaugh's life and ensure that the Supreme Court remains paralyzed until the next presidential election?
My friends, it looks like Judge Kavanaugh will be confirmed. But today's narrow 51-to-49 vote was too close for comfort and proves once again why we must elect more conservatives to the Senate.
Please stand with me right now!
Something To Celebrate - The unemployment rate fell to 3.7% -- the lowest level in nearly 50 years -- as the economy added 134,000 new jobs last month. In addition, figures for August and July were revised upwards by an additional 87,000 jobs.
As promised, President Trump is putting Americans back to work again and the economy is roaring. That is something to celebrate.
And the last thing we should do now is threaten that success by sending a bunch of tax-hiking socialists to Congress this November!
Pence Takes On China - Vice President Mike Pence delivered a powerful speech yesterday making it clear that America, under Donald Trump and Mike Pence, is no longer ignoring communist China's intentions. China is determined to drive us out of the Pacific and subjugate our allies, including Japan and South Korea. This president and vice president are willing to confront Beijing's aggression.
Here are some excerpts of the vice president's remarks:
"Beijing is employing a whole-of-government approach, using political, economic, and military tools, as well as propaganda, to advance its influence and benefit its interests in the United States. . .
"And when it comes to religious freedom, a new wave of persecution is crashing down on Chinese Christians, Buddhists, and Muslims. Last month, Beijing shut down one of China's largest underground churches. . . For China's Christians, these are desperate times. . .
"China has initiated an unprecedented effort to influence American public opinion, the 2018 elections, and the environment leading into the 2020 presidential elections. To put it bluntly, President Trump's leadership is working; and China wants a different American president."
China is not a benign power. It has been hacking our government, industries and universities for years. I have long warned that trade with China would not change China. It would change us.
Sadly, too many of our elites in both parties were willing to turn a blind eye to the worst aspects of China's domestic and foreign policies, while corporate America became addicted to cheap Chinese labor.
Thankfully the Trump Administration is changing course when it comes to China. The Trump/Pence team is putting America's security first. It is putting America's workers first. It is putting America's values first.
Fighting For Faith - As Vice President Pence noted, religious persecution in China is getting worse, not better. As a member of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, it is something I am working hard to combat every day. Working with the other commissioners, we issued a statement today condemning China's abuse of religious liberty.
In addition, I am "adopting" Pastor Hu Shigen, who has already been sentenced to several prison terms for "subversion of government power" and has been tortured for his faith. The scope and scale of China's assault on religious freedom is staggering.
I also had the honor of addressing a conference this week on Coptic Solidarity, speaking out in defense of Christians in Egypt and throughout the Middle East who continue to experience tremendous religious persecution.
"We're Coming For You" - Yesterday was National Poetry Day, and Planned Parenthood celebrated by tweeting out the following gem: "Roses are red, violets are blue, senators vote NO on Kavanaugh or else we're coming for you."
Sadly, it seems that threat worked on Sen. Lisa Murkowski.
But clearly, Planned Parenthood is sure of its power and influence. They're arguably the most ruthless lobbying group on the left.
Planned Parenthood opposes Kavanaugh because he's a conservative who they fear would vote against abortion on demand.
But I have to acknowledge that Planned Parenthood seems to be making some progress. By attacking Kavanaugh and the senators who vote for him, at least they're picking on someone their own size.
They typically target unborn babies using a variety of brutal methods, including saline abortions, which burn the baby to death with a chemical solution, or dismemberment abortion, which is as gruesome as the name implies.
America is better than this. We were founded on the principle that every human being has dignity and rights granted by God, not government. As President Trump said this week, "Life is precious, and it is our moral duty to protect and defend it."

Arkansas Politicians and the University Lobbyist Career Path
by Conduit For Action: As one politician’s career as a university lobbyist begins another politician’s university lobbyist job ends.
Speaker of the House Jeremy Gillam (Speaker 2015-2018) resigned from the House of Representatives in June 2018 to become a lobbyist for the University of Central Arkansas. The high paying job for Gillam looks like a political favor based on how he steered the House of Representatives over the last three- and one-half years. Gillam had been looking to cash in as a state employee after the demise of his farming business.
Gillam is not the only former Speaker of the House to take a university lobbying job. Former Speaker of the House Bill Stovall (Speaker 2005-2006) also became a lobbyist for colleges. He had a lobbyist position with the association of two-year state supported universities. When Stovall’s term of office in the House of Representatives was over, he continued to hang around the capital, first as a paid advisor to the next Speaker and then as a regular employee of the House. As more Republicans were elected Stovall, a Democrat, landed a job as lobbyist for two-year universities. Stovall recently announced his retirement from the lobbying job, effective at the end of October. The fact that his office access was immediately terminated makes it appear to be a forced retirement.
There seems to always be enough tuition money for hiring lobbyists.
What do you think. Is there something special about being Speaker of the House that makes you especially qualified to be a high paid lobbyist for a state supported university?
By the way, Bill Stovall has joined a lobbying firm that includes …… former Speaker of the House Robbie Wills (Speaker 2009-2010). With Stovall and Wills working as registered lobbyists and Gillam working as a lobbyist for UCA that means three of the past six Speakers are working as lobbyists.
What about the other three Speakers? Speaker Benny Petrus (Speaker 2007-2008) remained in private business. Speaker Robert Moore (Speaker 2011-2012) was appointed in January 2013 by Governor Mike Beebe to a ten-year term as a Highway Commissioner. Speaker Davy Carter (Speaker 2013-2014) remains in the banking industry.

No matter how you feel about polls, twelve points in one year is significant. This is especially true (and surprising) considering the constant drum beat from the press that Trump is a racist somewhere south of George Wallace.
Somebody isn't buying it -- and it's not just Kanye West. If this number grows just a little bit, the Democratic Party is in deep trouble. The party relies for its electoral power on overwhelming support from African-Americans, a dependency in itself inherently racist and suffused with reactionary identity politics. Without the black vote, the Dems might as well rename themselves the Celluloid Party and run Hollywood agents for mayor of Malibu. It'll be their best chance for success.
No wonder Maxine Waters hates Trump so much and no wonder Snoop Dogg has his nose so far out of joint he's attacked Kanye with that hoary cliché "Uncle Tom." (C'mon, Snoop, you can do better than that. You're a creative artist.) Actually, it's a dead giveaway. Today's Democrats are the natural heirs of George Wallace: "Segregation now! Segregation forever!" Only their brand of segregation means segregated dorms at Harvard and a blacks-only graduation ceremony. Talk about reactionary. Is that what MLK wanted? Gimme a break.
Who am I to say that as a white man, you might ask? Well, nobody, but I did live in a rooming house owned by MLK's cousin in Sumter, South Carolina, in 1966, working for, of course, integration as a northern agitator civil rights kid, 22 years old. What happened to the civil rights movement after that became increasingly depressing, increasingly exploitative, and increasingly mired in victimology over the years, in short what happens to so many idealistic movements (cf. Carlyle's French Revolution).
Bravo, Kanye, for help righting the ship. (Bravo, too, all those truly brilliant black conservatives from Thomas Sowell to Shelby Steele and my friend Larry Elder. There are more. You are true American heroes and the true heirs of Dr. King. You are the best, bar none, of our country.) And bravo, Donald Trump, as well. African-Americans have their lowest unemployment figures in decades. The welfare rolls are down, incomes are up, etc., etc. The times they really are a-changing -- and African-Americans, not surprisingly, get it. Hence the rise to 35%.
Integration, the original goal of the civil rights movement when I was in it, is beginning to eke out a small comeback. Segregation, which has held sway for some time, reaching its apotheosis under former attorney general (and wannabe presidential candidate) Eric Holder, is finally on the wane.
The rise of Kanye, and a new generation of African-Americans who aren't buying the tired Waters message, is one of the most heartening developments in our country in years.
But since the Kavanaugh hearing is on everybody's mind right now, this o-fay will hazard a guess of what at least some black people might be thinking when they watch this charade. African-Americanas are not strangers to false accusations. No more horrific case exists in our history than the Scottsboro Boys. In 1931, these nine African American teenagers were falsely accused of raping two white women in Alabama. And then there was 14-year old Emmett Till, lynched in Mississippi 1955 for looking askance at a white woman in her family's store.
Obviously there are other cases, but equally obvious is that many black people might view Dr. Ford's accusations differently than whites.
It will be interesting to see where the black vote will be in 2020.

. . . President Trump calls out the Left's man-hating sexual witch-hunt.
President Trump
by Matthew Vadum: President Trump lashed out at left-wingers this week, declaring that the out-of-control leftist-manufactured controversies raging around Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court prove it is a “very scary time for young men.”
It has been true for a while that men accused of sexual assault or sexual harassment on college campuses are tried by kangaroo courts. In fact, railroading students accused of such things was official policy in President Obama’s Department of Education. But now the same mob mentality has taken over the nation’s capital.
The idea of masculinity itself is under attack, as if being male were a disease. Being aggressive and pushing boundaries, that is, being manly, is treated as toxic behavior. Political lynchings of men, especially Caucasians and those to the right of center, have become increasingly commonplace. "White men are presumed guilty because they are white men, because they are supposedly in a position of privilege," Ben Shapiro said recently.
In his comments Trump was addressing the morbid and skewed totalitarian puritanism that reigns in official Washington right now. Sexual witch hunts targeting men with the wrong political beliefs or jurisprudential outlooks have become the norm in the Supreme Court confirmation process. Just ask Clarence Thomas.
As the absurd sex claims against Kavanaugh have been fizzling out, the Left has shifted the goalposts, accusing the would-be justice of being an abusive drunk on the basis of his otherwise banal, totally ordinary youthful experimentation with beverage alcohol. It’s not that left-wingers are opposed to the consumption of alcohol – they just want to come up with any excuse they can to prevent Kavanaugh (or any other Trump nominee to the high court) from moving forward. Left-wingers have even claimed that Kavanaugh’s wholly justified righteous indignation at being accused with no credible evidence whatsoever of being a party to gang rape somehow shows he lacks the temperament to sit on the Supreme Court.
Whatever Kavanaugh says or does he’s damned in the eyes of the Left. They will continue to attack him with a religious zeal whether the FBI’s redundant supplemental investigation turns up anything worthy of further examination.
Whether Kavanaugh is confirmed or not, the hazy, still-uncorroborated allegations leveled at him by Christine Blasey Ford will have staying power. This is because the character-assassins of the Left hellbent on sabotaging Kavanaugh control the culture. They will continue to slander the judge till their dying days.
The Torquemada-style approach to sexual abuse claims has been in vogue for years and young men have become its frequent victims. False rape claims are already distressingly common but in the #MeToo era of the 24-hour news cycle they get sensationalized like never before.
At least those accused in rape hoaxes in 2006 and 2014 were able to fight back and clear their names.
Stripper Crystal Gail Mangum's false 2006 claim against three members of Duke University's men's lacrosse team was initially believed and those who questioned it were demonized. One of the reasons she was taken seriously was the fact that she was black and the lacrosse players were white.
Rolling Stone was forced to retract its infamous 2014 article falsely accusing members of a University of Virginia fraternity of gang rape.
But nowadays the accusations spread at lightning speed and get amplified in social media, allowing the Left to ruin a man’s reputation in mere minutes.
Which brings us back to President Trump and his defense of Kavanaugh.
A reporter said, “Your son, Mr. President, says that he fears more for his sons, at this point in the MeToo era, than his daughters. Do you agree that men are under attack?”
“Well, it’s a tough thing going on,” Trump told reporters at the White House Tuesday. If you can be an exemplary person for 35 years. And then somebody comes and they say you did this or that; and they give three witnesses; and the three witnesses, at this point, do not corroborate what you were saying, that’s a very scary situation, where you’re guilty until proven innocent.“My whole life, I’ve heard you’re innocent until proven guilty,” Trump said. “But now, you’re guilty until proven innocent. That is a very, very difficult standard.”
The president continued:Well, I say that it’s a very scary time for young men in America, when you can be guilty of something that you may not be guilty of. This is a very, very — this is a very difficult time.
What’s happening here has much more to do than even the appointment of a Supreme Court Justice. It really does. You could be somebody that was perfect your entire life, and somebody could accuse you of something. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a woman, as everybody say — but somebody could accuse you of something, and you’re automatically guilty.
Schumer's Kavanaugh Smears Are Collapsing But The Vote Is On A Knife's Edge
Phil Kerpen
by Phil Kerpen, Contributing Author: I just got back to the American Commitment offices from the United State Capitol, where I sat in the Senate gallery and listened to brilliant speeches from Senators Grassley and McConnell and disgraceful lies from Senators Schumer and Feinstein. After weeks of calling Judge Kavanaugh a gang rapist, neither mentioned the thoroughly debunked claims of Julie Swetnick and her creepy porn lawyer.
But they did keep flogging the Christine Blasey Ford smear – which has also collapsed. This morning the Wall Street Journal reported that Ford’s beach friend Monica McLean pressured Leland Keyser to “revise” her sworn statement that she did not know, had never met Brett Kavanaugh and knew nothing about Ford’s allegations. The FBI obtained text messages proving it. [SOURCE:]
And you didn’t see this in the U.S. press, but yesterday the British Daily Mail talked to a close family member of Keyser, who said:
'It really felt a lot like Christine was the one called to the principal's office to give an account of something and just threw her under the bus. You know, just reached for a name.'It gets even sicker. “Friends” of Keyser pressured her to lie for Ford by invoking a tragic incident in which her high school boyfriend died. They wrote her a letter saying: “There was nothing you could have done to save Bill from the fate that awaited him, but you can save Christine.”
But it doesn’t stop there -- It gets worse. Ford’s “beach friend” Monica McLean worked for the FBI for 20 years until she hastily resigned when President Trump was elected. Much of her time in the FBI was spent in New York as a “Public Information Officer” – a press agent – and often the principal for whom she was doing press work was none other than Preet Bharara. Bharara himself is a close associate of Chuck Schumer and former senior staffer for Schumer on the Senate Judiciary Committee.
I’ve asked Ryan Grim, the Intercept reporter who originally reported the existence of the Ford letter whether it was leaked to him by McLean and he refused to answer – even though he already publicly stated he did not get it from Feinstein.
So this whole thing is very rapidly unraveling. Not only did the FBI find ZERO corroboration for any version of Ford’s ever-changing story, but now we are starting to get a good idea how the whole disgusting information operation worked. We are close to exposing and Smashing the Smear Machine.
But here’s the problem.
Today’s Senate vote was 51-49, and some senators could wobble before tomorrow’s vote on final passage. We’ve seen that before. And the left is pulling out all the stops. So please write to the Senate RIGHT NOW at SmashTheSmearMachine.com and share it with your friends on Facebook and Twitter. And retweet my tweets. And forward this email to everyone you know. We’re really close, but we can’t let up now.

America’s Unemployment Rate Falls to Its Lowest Level in Almost 50 Years
President's Council of Economic Advisers: The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released its monthly Employment Situation Report today, which shows continued evidence of a strong labor market. The U.S. unemployment rate is now the lowest it has been in nearly 50 years, payroll employment continued its historic streak of positive jobs gains, and average weekly wages continued to rise.
BLS’s September survey of households offers evidence of a booming United States economy. The unemployment rate dropped 0.2 percentage points (p.p.) over the month to 3.7 percent, the lowest it has been since December 1969 (see figure below). This is only the tenth month since 1970 that the unemployment rate has been recorded below 4 percent, with five of these months occurring in 2018. We know this decrease in the unemployment rate is due to more people finding jobs, as the labor force participation rate remained unchanged in September.
In addition to the nearly 50-year low for the overall unemployment rate, unemployment also reached historic lows for multiple demographic groups. The unemployment rate for Hispanics fell to 4.5 percent (matching July 2018), the lowest rate ever recorded. For women, the unemployment rate fell to 3.6 percent (matching May 2018), which was the lowest rate in nearly 65 years. The unemployment rate for those with a high school degree and no college attendance hit 3.7 percent, the lowest since April 2001. Furthermore, September was the first month since December 2000 that the number of people who are unemployed fell below 6 million.
The BLS survey of employers, also released today, showed that nonfarm payroll employment rose by 134,000 jobs in September. While below expectations for the month of September, employment gains in August were upwardly revised by 69,000 jobs, now showing 270,000 jobs gained that month—a very healthy number. Including the upward revisions in both July and August, average job growth per month is 208,000 for 2018, exceeding the average monthly gains in 2016 (195,000) and 2017 (182,000). Since President Trump was elected in November 2016, the strong United States economy has created 4.2 million jobs.
Job growth has been strong across the board during the first 20 months of this Administration. Since the President took office, goods-producing industries (construction, manufacturing, and mining and logging) have added almost 900,000 jobs. Of the 14 sectors measured, only retail trade, leisure and hospitality, and other services experienced job losses in September, and the employment decline in leisure and hospitality employment (-17,000) can likely be partially attributed to the effects of Hurricane Florence.
Nominal average hourly earnings rose by 2.8 percent over the past 12 months, while nominal weekly earnings growth was even stronger at 3.4 percent over the past 12 months. This is the fifth consecutive month with nominal 12-month growth over 3 percent—the longest streak with 3 percent nominal weekly earnings growth since 2010. Real wages (which take inflation into account) are also growing. Based on the most recent Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index data from August, inflation in the past year was 2.2 percent (September data will be available later this month).
Overall, the surveys released by BLS today offer more evidence of a booming United States economy and a strong labor market.

by Patrick Buchanan: Four days after he described Christine Blasey Ford, the accuser of Judge Brett Kavanaugh, as a “very credible witness,” President Donald Trump could no longer contain his feelings or constrain his instincts.
With the fate of his Supreme Court nominee in the balance, Trump let his “Make America Great Again” rally attendees in Mississippi know what he really thought of Ford’s testimony.
“‘Thirty-six years ago this happened. I had one beer.’ ‘Right?’ ‘I had one beer.’ ‘Well, you think it was (one beer)?’ ‘Nope, it was one beer.’ ‘Oh, good. How did you get home?'”
‘I don’t remember.’ ‘How did you get there?’ ‘I don’t remember.’ ‘Where is the place?’ ‘I don’t remember.’ ‘How many years ago was it?’ ‘I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know.'”
By now the Mississippi MAGA crowd was cheering and laughing.
Trump went on: “‘What neighborhood was it in?’ ‘I don’t know.’ ‘Where’s the house?’ ‘I don’t know.’ ‘Upstairs, downstairs, where was it?’ ‘I don’t know. But I had one beer. That’s the only thing I remember.'”
Since that day three years ago when he came down the escalator at Trump Tower to talk of “rapists” crossing the U.S. border from Mexico, few Trump remarks have ignited greater outrage.
Commentators have declared themselves horrified and sickened that a president would so mock the testimony of a victim of sexual assault.
The Republican senators who will likely cast the decisive votes on Kavanaugh’s confirmation — Jeff Flake, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski — they all decried Trump’s mimicry.
Yet, in tossing out the “Catechism of Political Correctness” and treating the character assassination of Kavanaugh as what it was, a rotten conspiracy to destroy and defeat his nominee, Trump’s instincts were correct, even if they were politically incorrect.
This was not a “job interview” for Kavanaugh.
In a job interview, half the members of the hiring committee are not so instantly hostile to an applicant that they will conspire to criminalize and crush him to the point of wounding his family and ruining his reputation.
When Sen. Lindsey Graham charged the Democratic minority with such collusion, he was dead on. This was a neo-Bolshevik show trial where the defendant was presumed guilty and due process meant digging up dirt from his school days to smear and break him.
Our cultural elites have declared Trump a poltroon for daring to mock Ford’s story of what happened 36 years ago. Yet, these same elites reacted with delight at Matt Damon’s “SNL” depiction of Kavanaugh’s angry and agonized appearance, just 48 hours before.
Is it not hypocritical to laugh uproariously at a comedic depiction of Kavanaugh’s anguish, while demanding quiet respect for the highly suspect and uncorroborated story of Ford?
Ford was handled by the judiciary committee with the delicacy of a Faberge egg, said Kellyanne Conway, while Kavanaugh was subjected to a hostile interrogation by Senate Democrats.
In our widening and deepening cultural-civil war, the Kavanaugh nomination will be seen as a landmark battle. And Trump’s instincts, to treat his Democratic assailants as ideological enemies, with whom he is in mortal struggle, will be seen as correct.
Consider. In the last half-century, which Supreme Court nominees were the most maligned and savaged?
Were they not Nixon nominee Clement Haynsworth, chief judge of the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, Reagan nominee Robert Bork, Bush 1 nominee Clarence Thomas, and Trump nominee Brett Kavanaugh, the last three all judges on the nation’s second-highest court, the District of Columbia Circuit Court of Appeals?
Is it a coincidence that all four were Republican appointees, all four were judicial conservatives, and all four were gutted on the grounds of philosophy or character?
Is it a coincidence that Nixon in Watergate, Reagan in the Iran-Contra affair, and now Trump in Russiagate, were all targets of partisan campaigns to impeach and remove them from office?
Consider what happened to decent Gerald Ford who came into the oval office in 1974, preaching “the politics of compromise and consensus.”
To bring the country together after Watergate, Ford pardoned President Nixon. For that act of magnanimity, he was torn to pieces by a Beltway elite that had been denied its anticipated pleasure of seeing Nixon prosecuted, convicted and sentenced to prison.
Trump is president because he gets it. He understands what this Beltway elite are all about — the discrediting of his victory as a product of criminal collusion with Russia and his resignation or removal in disgrace. And the “base” that comes to these rallies to cheer him on, they get it, too.
Since Reagan’s time, there are few conservatives who have not been called one or more of the names in Hillary Clinton’s litany of devils, her “basket of deplorables” — racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic, bigoted, irredeemable.
The battle over Kavanaugh’s nomination, and the disparagement of the Republicans who have stood strongest by the judge, seems to have awakened even the most congenial to the new political reality.
We are all Deplorables now.

by Kerby Anderson, Contributing Author: Two weeks ago my commentary was all about “good news” that is rarely covered by the press since it isn’t really considered news. I wanted to come back and talk about some “bad news” that also is rarely covered by the press because it is too much in the future when the focus on news is what is happening now.
Tyler Cowen wrote about what he called, “The Decline and Fall of the American Empire.” He doesn’t think America is falling apart right now, but he does see some ominous trends in the future. I like to think of these as challenges that we (and our leaders, both political and spiritual) will need to confront in the future.
First, he is rightly concerned about the shrill public debate. We see this in the inability for Congress to pass meaningful legislation to the recent circus atmosphere surrounding a nominee to the Supreme Court. Politics is ugly and that makes it unlikely that the political sphere will adequately address the nation’s pressing problems.
A second concern will be federal spending. “Aging and entitlements will force the next president, whether Democratic or Republican, to look for a mix of spending cuts and tax increases.” The growing national debt will force politicians to cut back on infrastructure maintenance. He concludes that much of the country will “end up looking like – forgive the colloquial phrase – a dump.”
Advances in technology will affect everything from our privacy to entertainment. Artificial intelligence and facial surveillance will invade our privacy. High-tech virtual reality will entice many to live in the cyber world where life is easy and everyone is beautiful. Driverless cars will reduce accidents but they will probably make the roads more crowded.
Many believe these trends spell the decline of America. I like to think of these trends as challenges we need to address as we move through the 21st century.

by Paul Jacob, Contributing Author: Among the rights-trampling bureaucracies, many and various, the Transportation Security Administration is far from the most beloved.
Millions of Americans, in the course of trying to catch flights, experience TSA agents up close and personal.
Some of these official gropers are way too “handsy.”
One report comes to our attention from Charlotte Ann Kimbrough, former law enforcement officer.
When she told TSA agents that she had had two metal hip replacements, she expected to be wanded. Instead, “The woman groped my crotch — twice. She went underneath my dress. I knew I had to be calm for the man I was traveling with. . . . But he could see the look on my face. He started yelling. They got the woman who was groping me out of the way and brought in a boss, who tried to stop the situation from escalating. I do have anger at myself, that I let her do it to to me. . . . I keep getting feelings of guilt.”
Some TSA workers may be uncomfortable with what they are “forced” to do to innocents. Others enjoy the power they have to humiliate people. Still others — whistleblowers — do speak out against abuses.
But they face retaliation from higher-ups for doing so. All of these employees are subject to abuse by TSA bosses.
A government report details alleged misconduct that includes sexual harassment, verbal abuse of employees, and obstructing investigations into misconduct.
We should not be surprised. As Reason magazine puts it, “this isn’t an agency with a great track record when it comes to treating people well.”

Americans Have Almost Entirely Forgotten Their History
A recent survey revealed that many Americans don't know
much about the American Revolution or history in general.
by Jarrett Stepman : In America, we celebrate democracy and are justifiably proud that this nation was founded on the idea that the people should rule.
That’s why it is so important that Americans be informed about their government. They are partakers in it. In fact, they control it.
Under tyrannical systems, it matters little if the people are informed about political life. Autocrats make decisions for the people whether they like it or not. But in our republic, we rely on the informed decision-making of citizens to judge policies and the leaders who will implement them.
Unfortunately, we are not very well-informed.
According to a recently released survey, Americans are woefully uneducated about the most basic facts of our history, to the point where most couldn’t even pass a basic citizenship test.
A study by the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation found that only 1 in 3 Americans can actually pass the U.S. citizenship test, which asks the most basic questions about our history and how our system of government works.
Passing the test requires answering 60 percent of questions correctly, but a majority of those participating in the survey couldn’t even do that.
“With voters heading to the polls next month, an informed and engaged citizenry is essential,” Arthur Levine, president of the Woodrow Wilson Fellowship Foundation, said.
“Unfortunately, this study found the average American to be woefully uninformed regarding America’s history and incapable of passing the U.S. citizenship test. It would be an error to view these findings as merely an embarrassment. Knowledge of the history of our country is fundamental to maintaining a democratic society, which is imperiled today.”
The survey listed some of the embarrassing answers given on the test.-Seventy-two percent of respondents either incorrectly identified or were unsure which states comprised the original 13 colonies;
-Only 24 percent could correctly identify one thing Benjamin Franklin was famous for, with 37 percent believing he invented the lightbulb;
-Only 24 percent knew the correct answer as to why the colonists fought the British;
-Twelve percent incorrectly thought WWII General Dwight Eisenhower led troops in the Civil War, while 6 percent thought he was a Vietnam War general;
-While most knew the cause of the Cold War, 2 percent said it was climate change.Young people performed worst on the test. Out of all test-takers under the age of 45, only 19 percent passed.
Given these numbers, it’s no wonder why so many young Americans say they would rather live under socialism than capitalism, and have little understanding of what that would mean in reality.
On the one hand, there is a case for forgetting history. Many cultures cling to historical grievances to the point where history becomes a major impediment to future success. Treated wrongly, historical memory can be toxic rather than helpful.
We don’t want to become trapped by the past, but we do want to learn from it in order to avoid repeating past mistakes and build a better future. As citizens, knowledge of the past and of civics is crucial. Lacking such knowledge is unhealthy for a free country, and even dangerous, given how bad political life can become.
One of our biggest problems today is that we often focus on tearing down our history rather than learning from it. That needs to change.
If these sobering test results tell us anything, it’s that we need to consider a fundamental change in how we approach education in the United States. And despite what some voices say, education funding is not the problem.
The U.S. ranks, globally, near the top in spending on elementary and secondary education, yet we don’t appear to be getting much bang for the buck. Perhaps it’s time we take a harder look at the public school monopoly that’s failing students and leaving generations of Americans without a basic understanding of our past.
More generally, we’ve failed to uphold Ronald Reagan’s call for an informed patriotism and more civic ritual—necessary qualities for the maintenance of a free country—in favor of negative and ideologically narrow accounts of America’s past now en vogue in our schools.
This is a recipe for a dark future and needs to change.

by Tony Perkins: Just when people stopped talking about Google's post-Trump cry-fest, the company has another PR disaster on its hands. Weeks after the tech giant was outed for calling the president's supporters "facists," "haters," and "extremists," Breitbart published a nasty email chain from Google's Blake Lemoine calling Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), among other things, a "terrorist."
Of course, Blackburn's been a longtime target of the tech industry -- starting last year when social media started censoring her campaign ads. In 2017, Twitter actually took down one of her pro-life videos, insisting it was "inflammatory" to bring up Planned Parenthood's baby body part ring. When she protested, Twitter replied that it wasn't an accident. "[I]t appears that the line in this video specific to 'stopped the sale of baby body parts' has been deemed an inflammatory statement that is likely to evoke a strong negative reaction. If this is omitted from the video it will be permitted to serve."
It was one of the many incidents that led Marsha to write an open letter to Silicon Valley on Fox News. "My Tennessee constituents have expressed concern over having their Christian movie trailers taken off YouTube, or their Facebook accounts being disabled, or their posts on Twitter being censored. As I said, I had a personal experience with the latter this last fall, and it was deeply troubling." Like a lot of conservatives, she demanded better. "If these companies truly believe in a free and open internet, they should allow an honest and open public discussion -- even when that means views they disagree with in 'flyover country' are highlighted. If they don't believe in that level of neutrality, perhaps we should heed Mr. Zuckerberg's advice and consider holding them to a higher standard that acknowledges their responsibility."
Google's Lemoine saw her column and unloaded in a politically-charged email. "We certainly shouldn't acquiesce to the theatrical demands of a legislator who makes political hay by intentionally reducing the safety of the people who she claims to protect," he wrote. "I'm not big on negotiation with terrorists." Insisting she was a "violent thug," Lemoine argued that "taking down libel is not censorship." "She's a lying liar who lies and Twitter treats her like one."
Obviously, Google's bias isn't anything new. But this is especially significant since Lemoine is part of the company's search team, meaning that he helps create the algorithms that seemed to be increasingly skewed against conservatives. Google, of course, declined to comment. (It said enough already.) Marsha's campaign, on the other hand, had plenty to say. "Marsha Blackburn is a mother, a grandmother, a friend, a dedicated public servant, a pro-life champion, an ally for veterans, and an advocate for lowering our taxes and cutting regulation. To call her a terrorist is offensive and degrading. These emails are indicative of the bias conservative women in the political arena face every day. Liberals do not want them to have a voice in the public arena, and too many social media employees carry their bias to work with them."
At last year's NRB convention, Marsha and I talked extensively about media censorship. Like a lot of conservatives, we think it's time for companies like Google to start embracing First Amendment principles. After all, she said, "What's the value of platforms that care more about inserting their biases than in providing a neutral place for people to discuss their ideas?" Probably about the same as an employee who isn't capable of common courtesy, let alone open debate.

Political Correctness Detours Us from Biblical Truths
Kelly Kullberg
by Chris Butler: Socialism is a less loving form of government than one that nurtures human creativity.
Building walls and teaching a nation to rebuild its faith and its culture is sometimes important.
Pansexuality or an anything goes culture shepherds no progress.
You won’t hear these things come out of the mouths of the trendy and the politically correct among us, but they are some of our most important Biblical truths. And the world suffers because it seems to have long forgotten those truths, said Kelly Kullberg with the American Association of Evangelicals.
AAE is a growing and informal coalition of Christian Americans who want to do three things.
One is get back to a Christ-centered Gospel. The second is to explore Biblical worldviews on many issues. The third is to stand up to Gospel opponents.
Kullberg was in Nashville this week and spoke with The Tennessee Star. She is most well-known for starting the Veritas Forum at Harvard University in 1992. Veritas has expanded to more than 200 universities and explores hard questions about the Bible and Jesus Christ.
“Politically correct people need to use their brains and their hearts and think about what causes suffering and what causes flourishing,” Kullberg said.
Before there was a Biblical view of marriage, Kullberg said, there were no moral guidelines.
“A covenant marriage was a breakout of actual progress. Solid families are the building blocks of a flourishing culture and always have been. It’s unloving to demoralize the formation of families,” Kullberg said.
“People were lifted out of poverty, polygamy, disease and loneliness. Children were protected from abuse and trafficking. Pansexuality is actually the old news. We need to take our words back, including love, justice and progress.”
What got us so far off track?
Kullberg blames modern society’s outright denial that sin exists. That, she said, keeps people from coming to repent.
There’s another cause, she said.
“Some of us have traced the decline of the church to the funding of anti-Christian billionaires like George Soros’ open-society foundations and various progressively destructive foundations,” Kullberg said, citing groups who, for instance, protest U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
Is society past the point of no return and of going back to Godly principles?
Kullberg paused and chewed that one over a few seconds before she said the following:
“With God all things are possible.”

McConnell Stands Firm, The Atmosphere In D.C., Collusion
Gary Bauer
by Gary Bauer, Contributing Author: McConnell Stands Firm - Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has sometimes frustrated conservative activists. But right now every conservative in America owes McConnell a huge debt of gratitude.
Not only did McConnell stop Barack Obama from filling Justice Antonin Scalia's seat, but he's also ensured the confirmation of Justice Neil Gorsuch and a record number of crucial circuit court judges over the past 18 months. Just as important, McConnell has been resolute throughout the Kavanaugh controversy.
Yesterday, McConnell went to the Senate floor and delivered a blistering indictment of the left's campaign of intimidation and violence. Here are some excerpts of his remarks:
"Sometimes this intimidation campaign [against Kavanaugh] has been aimed at the nominee. . . and when that didn't work, then the far left tried to bully and intimidate . . . Republican United States senators. They've tried to bully and intimidate us. . .
"I'm not suggesting we're the victims here. But I want to make it clear to these people who are chasing my members around the hall here or harassing them at the airport or going to their homes, we'll not be intimidated by these people.
"There's no chance in the world they're going to scare us out of doing our duty. I don't care how many members they chase, how many people they harass here in the halls, I want to make one thing perfectly clear: We will not be intimidated by these people!"
It is never pleasant to be confronted publicly or to have complete strangers screaming at you. But this is happening to many Republicans who still have fresh in their minds what happened last year on an Alexandria baseball field. One of the people doing the screaming decided to open fire.
It is by the grace of God that we did not have dozens of dead congressmen and a real constitutional crisis.
How much more blood must be spilled before fair-minded Americans reject the far left? When will Democrat leaders speak out against the thuggish behavior in the streets of D.C.?
The Atmosphere In D.C. - Thanks to the left, Mrs. Kelly Paul, wife of Sen. Rand Paul, now keeps a loaded gun by her bedside. Here's a quote from an open letter to Sen. Cory Booker that she just published:
"It's nine o'clock at night, and as I watch out the window, a sheriff's car slowly drives past my home. I am grateful that they have offered to do extra patrols, as someone just posted our home address, and Rand's cell number, on the internet -- all part of a broader effort to intimidate and threaten Republican members of Congress and their families.
"I now keep a loaded gun by my bed. Our security systems have had to be expanded. I have never felt this way in my life."
As Mrs. Paul alluded to, a Democrat staffer was arrested yesterday for "doxxing" Republican senators. Doxxing is the posting of their home addresses and other personal information online so they could be harassed by left-wing activists.
These are fascist tactics, my friends. This is what tyrants do with power. They abuse it in order to disrupt the regular political process and silence their political opponents.
Yet, there is considerable irony here: The only person arrested in the Kavanaugh controversy is a liberal Democrat activist.
Let me give you a sense of what is happening in this city right now: Left-wing demonstrators are flocking to Washington.
Police are attempting to cordon off Capitol Hill to ensure the safety of U.S. senators.
Linda Sarsour is staging a demonstration right now. A radical anti-Israel, Farrakhan-loving, left-wing activist is the face of the anti-Kavanaugh movement. That speaks volumes. Sadly, the party of Harry Truman and JFK has been hijacked.
Nancy Pelosi compared Kavanaugh to Kim Jong Un and Vladimir Putin.
Sen. McConnell was back on the floor this morning, delivering the most emotional remarks I can ever recall from him. McConnell said, "It's the Senate that's on trial here. . . We will not be hoodwinked by those who have tried hard to smear this good man."
One left-wing group plans to encircle the Supreme Court tomorrow.Predictably, Senate Democrats who demanded this additional FBI investigation are refusing to accept the results -- just as the left has refused to accept the results of the 2016 elections.
Chuck Schumer and Dianne Feinstein denounced the FBI report as "limited" and "incomplete." They demanded even more delays knowing full well that the left will only escalate its aggression if given more time.
Collusion, Anyone?
With all the focus on Judge Kavanaugh lately, there are other important stories going unnoticed. Here's one I don't want you to miss.
Yesterday, House investigators heard testimony from James Baker, the FBI's former general counsel. Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) said that Baker's testimony was "explosive," adding, "This witness confirmed that things were done in an abnormal fashion. That's extremely troubling."
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) said that Baker revealed that "there was another source giving information directly to the FBI" in the early stages of its Trump/Russia investigation, a source that they did not know about before yesterday.
Investigative journalist John Solomon thinks he knows who that source was. Consider this excerpt:
"Former FBI general counsel James Baker met during the 2016 season with at least one attorney from Perkins Coie, the Democratic National Committee's private law firm.
"That's the firm used by the DNC and Hillary Clinton's campaign to secretly pay research firm Fusion GPS and Christopher Steele, a former British intelligence operative, to compile a dossier of uncorroborated raw intelligence alleging Trump and Moscow were colluding to hijack the presidential election."
If Solomon's reporting is accurate, then the FBI knew early on that it was dealing with Democrat dirt and was not simply relying on the reputation of a trusted foreign intelligence operative (Steele) as previous narratives have suggested.
That would be political collusion and corruption of the worst kind.
The left's house of cards may be close to collapsing.
But if Democrats regain power in November, the first thing they will do is shut down every investigation into the deep state.
To drain the swamp, we MUST defeat the left!
