A casino monopoly in Arkansas? No thanks!
By The Natural State Hawg, All Arkie Army: Yes, we've got some [out of state] maniac running around thinking that he ought to be able to build seven casinos all over my state and have a state-protected monopoly so he doesn't have to deal with any mean old competitors.
I'm not a fan of casinos and I detest monopolies, so I hope the jerk fails. You can read all about this rotten move by clicking here.
Hopefully this self-serving effort fails miserably. He'll be out petitioning soon. If you do live here, please refrain from signing one and putting this ridiculous proposal on the ballot.ARRA News Editor Comments: Question - When and where did our elected officials grant the AG the authority to certify proposed ballot initiative for Arkansas Constitution amendments made by out-of-state residents. The identified proponent for this gambling monopoly is a Texas businessman per all the news articles. Gambling - I leave that issue to the Arkansas people to propose. Surprised the proposal wasn't advanced by Lt Gov. Bill Halter as he loves support by the gambling and porno industries. A Monopoly - No Way! Confirmed: Dems have 'voting legislation' in works
by Chelsea Schilling, WorldNetDaily: Rep. Barney Frank has confirmed that Sen. Chuck Schumer "is working on legislation regarding voting," lending weight to reports that Democrats are planning to implement a federal mandate to automatically register millions of people to vote. As WND reported, Wall Street Journal reporter and political commentator John Fund has been warning that Democrats have a plan to propose universal voter-registration legislation – within months or possibly even weeks. . . .Fund argues that universal-registration plans involve the use of a wide range of government lists and databases to automatically add people to voter registration rolls. He discusses the topic in his November 2009 book, "How the Obama Administration Threatens to Undermine Our Elections."
Schumer, chairman of the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration, held a hearing on voter registration in March 2009. Jonah Goldman, director of the National Campaign for Fair Elections at the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, testified before the committee about concerns with the current registration system and its impact on the 2008 election. Goldman's testimony drew from an Election Protection report titled, "Election Protection 2008: Helping Voters Today, Modernizing the System for Tomorrow." That report included the following policy recommendation:
Automatic Registration: Automatic registration shifts the burden of registration from voters to government and eliminates the need to rely on independent, third-party voter registration organizations to sign up voters. Such a registration system will help states efficiently identify eligible voters from other government databases and add those names to their registration rolls. Voters can opt out if they prefer not to be registered, but for those who want to be included on the rolls, this system will continually update the names of eligible voters, eliminating the last minute deluge of registration applications just before registration deadlines.
Following the hearing, Schumer argued that as many as 7 million registered voters were prevented or discouraged from casting ballots in the 2008 election. "Each one alone may not seem like an egregious violation, but put together, you get massive disenfranchisement," Schumer said in a statement. "This is unacceptable and undemocratic." . . .
"The idea, embraced by Barack Obama when he was a presidential candidate, is to shift responsibility for registering to vote from the individual to the federal government," Fund writes in his book. "All eligible citizens would automatically be registered to vote, which existing lists such as DMV records, income-tax returns, welfare rolls and unemployment lists being used to enroll everyone. Once registered, individuals would stay on the federal rolls, even if they move to another state or district."
Fund warns that the government databases contain names of non-citizens, mentally incompetent individuals and felons – factors that would usually disqualify a person from voting in most states. He also notes that many people own property in more than one location and pay taxes to numerous government entities.
"[U]niversal voter registration would automatically register them in more than one location, allowing them to vote more than once – either in person or by mail," Fund explains. He said the plan would destroy the integrity of the registration process, much as widespread registration drives by the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN, were reportedly rife with criminal actions, including people registered multiple times under fraudulent names and addresses. In the 2008 election, ACORN's practices led to investigation in more than a dozen states.
"Now they will sell this very cleverly," Fund explained. "They will say, well, OK, ACORN did have some problems with voter registration. We shouldn't have these third-party rogue groups out there. So, let's put ACORN out of business, and let's register everybody."
Numerous left-leaning groups and publications have been openly calling for universal-voter registration in recent years. In its April, 13, 2009, article by Eliza Newlin Carney, the National Journal reported that Schumer "plans to introduce a bill to revamp the voter registration system later this year." "Democrats believe it is too hard for people to register and vote; Republicans believe it is too easy to register and vote fraudulently," Schumer said. "There may be a way to solve both problems simultaneously through technology and forge a better bipartisan solution." Even Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has advocated for automatic voter registration. "A system of automatic registration, in which the government bears more responsibility for assembling accurate and secure lists of eligible voters, is a necessary reform," then-Sen. Clinton told the New York Times in November 2008.
In addition to statements made by Frank and Fund, a congressional staffer confirmed Schumer's involvement. "What we know from statements from advocacy groups that support universal-voter registration is that they have been working with Sen. Schumer's office since approximately last spring to create a bill," the staffer told WND. "We don't know exactly when he will introduce it, but it has been predicted to be introduced in the near future for several months now. Schumer definitely has been, and seems to be, the point person on this." Sen. Blanche Lincoln Polling Numbers Failing Again
Bill Smith, Editor: Repeatedly, polls show Arkansans ready to dump Arkansas Blanche Lincoln. The question early in this race, is who will be the final nominee for the GOP to run against Lincoln. The GOP race is still wide open with some tightening but most likely their will be run-off after the Republican primary. The number of Republican candidates splitting the vote in the primary will most likely assure that no one will have 51% of the vote.
The present considerations between the Republican candidates are:
1) Vote for the person who raises the most money to oppose Lincoln's war chest.
2) Vote or don't vote to send another politician to Washington D.C.? If a politician, concerns over their voting record and deals made in the past will be evaluated by the voters.
3) Vote for person with experienced business experience needed to help balance the budget and protect small business.
4) Vote for person commitmented to ethics and accountability.
5) Vote for an person who indeed understands the global threat by other countries and terrorism.
6) Most people are looking for those committed to conservative principles both in their former and present life before entrusting them with the future of the people's seat.
7) Who is best expected to communicate after winning the election with Arkansans and not avoid them as Sen. Lincoln has done including moving her family to Virginia.
There have been several polls and in each case there has been slight variation. However, in most polls, Lincoln looses to a solid conservative Republican. The independents, many of them disenfranchised conservative who are seen the Democratic Party's slide into socialism, will have a great deal to say in the final decision beyond the old time Republicans who follow a usual path to decision making. This was proven recently with the election of Sen. Scott Brown in Massachusetts. If the opportunity is not wasted by the Republican candidates in bitter partisan politics, Arkansas should be sending a conservative to Washington as it's second Senator after the November election. If this doesn't happen, Arkansas will have failed both itself and the rest of the country.
Most years, we would expect potential Republican candidates to have potentially double digit negative numbers polling against long term incumbent Democratic Senator Blanche Lincoln. But this has not been the situation. In a poll conducted earlier this week for the Arkansas News Bureau/Stephens Media by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research, Inc., Republicann are polling favorably against incumbent Democrat Blanche Lincoln who has only a favorable rating of only 39% and unfavorable 41%. Polling numbers in early head to head races were:
Holt 43% Lincoln 37% [Jim Holt - Fav: 19% Unfav: 7% Unknown: 38%]
Baker 43% Lincoln 39% [Gilbert Baker - Fav: 11% Unfav: 5% Unknown: 38%]
Coleman 39% Lincoln 40% [Curtis Coleman - Fav: 7% Unfav: 3% Unknown: 77%]
Reynolds 38% Lincoln 41% [Conrad Renynols - Fav: 8% Unfav: 3% Unknown: 76%]
Cox 38% Lincoln 41% [Tom Cox - Fav: 7% Unfav: 2% Unknown: 70%]
Hendren 38% Lincoln 43% [Kim Hendren - Fav: 10% Unfav: 4% Unknown: 63%] Tags:Arkansas, Blanche Lincoln, Conrad Reynolds, Curtis Coleman, Gilbert Baker, Jim Holt, Kim Hendren, poll, Republicans, Tom Cox, US SenateTo share or post to your site, click on "Post Link". Today in Washington, D.C. - Jan. 22, 2009 - Obama Misses Gitmo Closure Deadline: 60% Oppose Closure; Still No Plan From Admin
The Senate resumed consideration of H.J. Res. 45, the resolution to raise the debt limit. Up to 12 amendments may be considered to the bill. All amendments and final passage of the bill will require 60 votes. No votes are scheduled for today.
According to the AP, Senate Democrats are proposing a $1.9 trillion increase in the debt limit. “Less than a decade ago, $1.9 trillion would have been enough to finance the operations and programs of the federal government for an entire year. Now, it’s only enough to make sure Democrats can avoid another vote before Election Day.”
Yesterday, a majority of the Senate voted for Sen. John Thune’s (R-SD) amendment to end the TARP program and dedicate any remaining money to debt reduction. However, the amendment failed, however, because it did not receive the 60 votes need for adoption.
A year ago today, in one of his first public ceremonies at the White House, President Barack Obama signed an executive order requiring that the terrorist detention facility at Guantanamo Bay be closed in one year. The deadline has arrived, but Guantanamo remains open, and for good reason. As Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said last April, “It’s clear . . . that the administration is putting symbolism ahead of safety. This becomes even more apparent from Attorney General Holder’s admission that closing Guantanamo will be ‘one of the most daunting challenges’ he will face. He clearly realizes what most Americans realize: closing Guantanamo is not a good option if no safe alternatives exist.”
Sure enough, The Washington Post reports today, “A Justice Department-led task force has concluded that nearly 50 of the 196 detainees at the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, should be held indefinitely without trial under the laws of war, according to Obama administration officials. The task force's findings represent the first time that the administration has clarified how many detainees it considers too dangerous to release but unprosecutable because officials fear trials could compromise intelligence-gathering and because detainees could challenge evidence obtained through coercion.”
So despite a year of rhetoric from the Obama administration about how important it was to close Guantanamo, even the Justice Department now recognizes that some detainees are simply too dangerous to release and cannot be prosecuted in civilian courts. What to do with them, then?
An AP story yesterday noting that Obama will miss his self-imposed deadline “by a wide margin, likely a year or more,” explains, “Unless he decides to change course, to close Gitmo the president must still find support in Congress to pay for a super-secure prison in Illinois for some of the detainees he wants to continue holding. He must also get additional money, likely hundreds of millions of dollars, to provide extra security to put some suspects, including [9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh] Mohammed, on trial in federal courts.”
Part of the reason the president has trouble finding support is that it has produced no plan to close Guantanamo (which even Democrats acknowledge), and none of the alternatives, such as simply moving the facility to Illinois, are practical or appealing. Indeed, last May the Senate voted 90-6 to deny the administration funding to “transfer, release, or incarcerate” detainees in the U.S.
And after a year of the administration being stalled by the realities of the situation and the failure to catch the attempted Christmas Day bombing of an airliner flying into Detroit, Americans are saying they don’t support closing the detention facility at Guantanamo. Last week, a Quinnipiac poll found that 60% of Americans say Guantanamo should not be closed. That’s a level of opposition similar to polling on the health care bills.
In a major speech on security issues on the Senate floor yesterday, Sen. McConnell with the Obama administration’s approach to Guantanamo and other aspects of the War on Terror. “[I]n my view, the administration has on a number of instances struck the wrong balance over the past year between safety and civil liberties. Its preference for prosecuting a terrorist like the Christmas Day Bomber in civilian courts shows a dangerous preoccupation with prosecution over prevention just as explained the problemits hasty decision to close Guantanamo showed a preoccupation with symbolism over security.”
A year later, there’s still no concrete plan on what to do with the detainees being kept in Guantanamo. Many simply cannot be released, a significant number of those that have been released have rejoined terrorist groups, and there is no money and little support in Congress for bringing them to the United States. Americans oppose closing the facilities at Guantanamo and the administration has shown no compelling evidence that doing so will make the country safer. President Obama has missed his hastily-conceived and poorly thought through deadline, but for the moment, that appears to be the best outcome for national security. Obama: It Is All About Me - Scott Brown Won For the Same Reason I Won
Gary Bauer, Campaign for Working Families:Is He Serious? Barack Obama sat down with ABCs George Stephanopoulos for a one-on-one interview last night and promptly gave an analysis of the election results in Massachusetts that can only be described as bizarre. Here is the presidents view of why Scott Brown beat Obama's ally Martha Coakley: Here's my assessment of not just the vote in Massachusetts, but the mood around the country: the same thing that swept Scott Brown into office swept me into office. Yes, he really did say that. Really. Im not kidding. Seriously.
Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, many of the voters who swept Barack Obama into the White House did not show up in Massachusetts on Tuesday, just as they did not show up in Virginia or New Jersey last November. Minority voters, who supported Obama because they thought he was going to transform their lives, now suffer from historic high unemployment rates. College-age youth, who got caught up in the Obama mystique, are now swinging to conservative candidates who advocate lower taxes and more job creation. In November 2008, many voters liked Obama's Big Government message. Now, after one year of Obama's socialism, the public says it wants smaller government.
Here's a more accurate assessment: The mood around the country that helped our side win three big elections in recent months is the same thing that is going to send Harry Reid packing this November, and make Barack Obama a one-term president in 2012!
A Failure To Communicate? Obama also suggested that another contributing factor in losing the Senate seat held by Ted Kennedy was a failure to communicate on his part. He can't seriously believe that. This administration is the most media obsessed outfit in history. It's so bad, he's been accused of narcissism and over-exposure. How many times has the president been featured on the cover of Time Magazine? Barack Obama has been more ubiquitous in the media than an American Idol winner. CBS News even ran the stats:
* Obama has made more than 400 public speeches or statements in his first 365 days 52 of them devoted to healthcare.
* He's held 42 press conferences, four in prime time. That's twice as many press conferences as George W. Bush held during his first year, and only one of Bush's was in prime time.
* Obama has given 158 interviews, far more than any of his predecessors in their first year.
* Obama has also conducted 23 town hall meetings.
* CBS also noted that in his first year Obama played golf four times as much as George W. Bush did in his first year, and attended nearly five times the number of fundraisers. Maybe Obama was too busy playing golf and raising campaign cash.
And isn't this the same Barack Obama whose tremendous rhetorical skills gave Chris Matthews a thrill up his leg? So how is it that he was unable to speak directly to the American people about their core values? I don't think he was. This is the same Barack Obama who wrote about himself, I serve as a blank screen on which people of vastly different political stripes project their own views.
It's not the messenger or the lack of a message. It was the content of the message. To paraphrase, It's the message, stupid. This administration is not representing the core values of the American people. It's not even close. There is a growing realization that hope and change was just a big liberal bait and switch. The voters are justifiably angry at being deceived and learning that the blank screen is really an empty suit. Tags:Barack Obama, Gary BauerTo share or post to your site, click on "Post Link". by Chris Slavens: . . . Young, uninformed voters who jumped on the Obama bandwagon have moved on to the next social trend, some regretting their votes upon finding that the president’s version of change is not what they expected. Tea parties organized on a grass roots level are gaining widespread popularity and momentum among the working and middle classes, despite an intense media propaganda effort to portray the movement as marginal. But while Obama’s plummeting approval ratings reflect an increasingly disillusioned citizenry, his position is safe for the moment.
The same cannot be said for House Democrats. They will reap the consequences of President Obama’s policies, and their roles in a legislative experiment gone wrong.
Democrats across the country are switching parties or retiring, probably because they place greater value on their political careers than in blind party loyalty or supporting a far-left agenda. A new Rasmussen poll indicates that 36% of Democrats “believe their representatives in Congress have lost touch with the party’s voters”, while only 54% say they “have done a good job representing their party’s values over the past several years.”
Obviously, Democrats are not on the same page as their supporters, let alone independents and Republicans. Which page are they on? Whose interests are they representing? And how can they possibly believe that ignoring their constituents will be helpful in winning reelection in November?
Some don’t, which is why they’re getting out of the game with their reputations intact. The rest, who go along with Obama’s disastrous agenda, seem to be committing political suicide, sacrificing their careers to implement long-lasting changes in U.S. government and society that the people do not want. Like Japanese kamikaze pilots of the Second World War, they fly a one-way mission. But this brand of liberalism is no “divine wind,” and the inevitable crash will affect the entire country.
The House of Representatives was designed to reflect shifting public opinion. Today’s problem is that opinion is shifting, and House Democrats aren’t reflecting. They continue to pursue federal health care reform that is unnecessary, unpopular, and unconstitutional. They ignore, or support, the president’s alarming use of policy “czars,” sidestepping Congress and the voters in an unprecedented increase of the Executive Branch’s power. If Democrats refuse to address the problems in the Obama administration, and continue to disparage the legitimate dissent of concerned citizens, they will be dealt a severe blow in the coming 2010 election, which could result in a lost Democratic majority and lame duck presidency only halfway through Obama’s first (and possibly last) term. . . . Today in Washington - Jan 21, 2010 - Pelosi: Senate Healthcare Reform Bill Dead in House
The Hill is reporting: House Democrats lack enough votes to pass the Senate's healthcare bill, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said Thursday. Pelosi threw cold water on the idea that the House could muster enough support to pass the Senate's bill, which includes a number of provisions liberals in the House find distasteful. "I don't see the votes for it at this time," Pelosi told reporters during her weekly press conference. "The members have been very clear."
Democrats have been forced to confront how they could proceed with healthcare reform legislation after having lost Tuesday's special election in Massachusetts to Republicans, giving the GOP enough votes to filibuster a bill in the Senate. One option under discussion has been passing the Senate bill, which would send the bill directly to President Barack Obama for a signature.
"We have to get a bill passed. We know that," Pelosi said, adding that "unease would be a gentle word" to describe House members' attitude toward the Senate legislation at the moment. Still, the Speaker reiterated that all options are on the table, and House leaders had to always be prepared for the possibility that the Senate wouldn't be able to muster the 60 votes necessary to pass healthcare legislation.
The Hill also addressed the following: Poll: Majority want healthcare bill halted and Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-MN): Mass. election doesn't change her mind on healthcare; not voting for Senate version of bill. The Senate resumed consideration of H.J. Res. 45, the resolution to raise the debt limit. Up to 12 amendments may be considered to the bill. All amendments and final passage of the bill will require 60 votes. According to the AP, Senate Democrats are proposing a $1.9 trillion increase in the debt limit. “Less than a decade ago, $1.9 trillion would have been enough to finance the operations and programs of the federal government for an entire year. Now, it's only enough to make sure Democrats can avoid another vote before Election Day.”
Later today, a vote is expected on Sen. John Thune’s (R-SD) amendment that would end the TARP program. The AP reports, “Thune would prohibit further expenditure of TARP funds and would require that all funds paid back be used to retire debt.” Yesterday, the Senate voted 97-0 to confirm Beverly Baldwin Martin to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. by Amanda J. Reinecker: The Heritage Foundation has released our 2010 Index of Economic Freedom, and the results are alarming if not terribly surprising: America is no longer ranked among the world’s free economies. Instead, for the first time, America ranks as only "mostly free" -- behind countries like Canada, Ireland and Switzerland.
The Index, published for the past 16 years as a joint project with The Wall Street Journal, analyzes the economic freedom of 179 countries and bases their scores on three categories: government burdens upon businesses and entrepreneurs; intrusiveness of government; and fundamental societal characteristics that support today's most prosperous economies.
Given the past year, it should come as no surprise that the United States' ranking has declined. After all, government spending has exploded and intrusion into the economy has increased, yet our government continues to raise its debt ceiling to allow for spending package after spending package.
Heritage Vice President Michael Franc explains:
The drop in rankings is notable as it comes in the same week that marks the one-year anniversary of President Barack Obama's inauguration. By any standard, Americans' overall wealth and prosperity has continued to decline...unemployment has skyrocketed and shows no signs of abating, government spending and debt are at unprecedented levels during peacetime, and our elected officials seem determined not only to ignore these alarm bells but to pursue policies...that will cause entrepreneurs to stay on the sidelines rather than take the risks that have led the United States out of previous recessions.
Americans are not happy about this. More and more of them are voicing their disapproval of big-government policies, which give way to more taxes and less freedom. On Tuesday, many of these Americans made their message loud and clear. Note as defined by the report, "Economic freedom is the fundamental right of every human to control his or her own labor and property. In an economically free society, individuals are free to work, produce, consume, and invest in any way they please, with that freedom both protected by the state and unconstrained by the state. In economically free societies, governments allow labor, capital and goods to move freely, and refrain from coercion or constraint of liberty beyond the extent necessary to protect and maintain liberty itself." Bill Smith, Editor:I previously posted a video about radical Erroll Southers, President Barack Obamas nominee to head the Transportation Safety Administration, the organization that screens passengers getting on airplanes. Southers worried about the "majority" of American citizens who are Christians and lumped people who have been radicals in the past as having a "Christian Identity Oriented." Wow - we can't address Muslims as terrorists but he wanted to address Christians as terrorists.
I said at the time "Southers is another of Obama's Political Correct guard who should not be approved!" So did lots of others. It was not my opinion but it was the expressed opinion of thousands of others, especially bloggers and various freedom loving advocacy organizations and people that would not silence our cry that this man should not be confirmed. We also supported Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) who had blocked Southers' confirmation by the Senate because Demint feared Southers would allow TSA employees to join a labor union.
Another Victory has occured! Erroll Southers withdrew himself from the nomination. Now, we need to wait to see where he lands with his biased anti-Christian rhetoric.
Either the White House needs to better vet its nominations or we must assume these are the very type of people that the President or his White House staff wish to have around him. Remember when the President Obama said we were to judge him by the people that he surrounds himself with and who he relies on for advice. Who is advising the president on all these questionable nominations, many whom are already in place? Ron Russell, TOTUS: Many are now waiting to see if the recent election in Massachusetts and the election of a Republican will cause President Obama to moderate, to move to the center of the political spectrum, much as Bill Clinton did after the disaster the democrats faced following the off year elections in 1994. The answer here is simple for most astute political observers---he will not. Bill Clinton was a member of the political left, but not an extreme radical like Obama. Obama will go down with the ship before he abandons his deeply held political convictions. He is not a finger in the wind kind of guy like Slick Willy. Obama thinks he is right and the majority of the people in this country are wrong. He lied during his campaign, indicating he would govern from the center, but once in office he forgot his campaign promises, promises he never intended to keep, to the American people and pushed ahead with his radical agenda. The vote last night in Massachusetts is a message to Washington, but a message that will fall on deaf ears in the Oval Office, but maybe some in Congress (those who are up for re-election this year) will hear the voters of the Bay State and tens of million more like them throughout this great nation. The Senate reconvened and began consideration of the nomination of Beverly Baldwin Martin to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. A vote on the nomination is expected this morning. The Senate will begin consideration of H.J. Res. 45, the resolution to raise the debt limit. Up to 12 amendments may be considered to the bill. All amendments and final passage of the bill will require 60 votes. Sen. John Thune (R-SD) is expected to offer an amendment that would end the TARP program.
In an historic upset last night, Massachusetts state Senator Scott Brown won a special election to the U.S. Senate, the first Republican elected to the Senate from the Bay State in over three decades. Many are calling for Brown to be seated before another vote is taken on healthcare. The Washington Post notes, “Brown . . . won the special election by running directly against the health-care legislation that [Sen. Ted] Kennedy trumpeted before his August death and that [President] Obama considers his most important legislative priority.”
Appearing on Fox and Friends this morning, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said, “[T]he message delivered last night is very, very clear, and Scott Brown made this point last night. We had a referendum in Massachusetts yesterday, the most liberal state in America, on the health care bill that the majority and the president are trying to jam through down here in spite of the wishes of the American people who are saying, ‘Please don't pass this bill.’ I hope they get the message.”
It remains to be seen whether Democrat leaders in Congress have gotten the message, but a number of their rank-and-file members seem to have understood what voters were saying yesterday. Politico writes, “[M]oderate Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va.) . . . call[ed] the Brown victory a ‘referendum’ on health reform and [took] a swipe at his party's leadership by calling for more transparency in the process. ‘To that end, I believe it would only be fair and prudent that we suspend further votes on health care legislation until Senator-elect Brown is seated,’ Webb said in a statement.”
ABC News reported last night, “Even before the votes [were] counted, Senator Evan Bayh [D-IN] [warned] fellow Democrats that ignoring the lessons of the Massachusetts Senate race will ‘lead to even further catastrophe’ for their party. ‘There’s going to be a tendency on the part of our people to be in denial about all this,’ Bayh told ABC News, but ‘if you lose Massachusetts and that’s not a wake-up call, there’s no hope of waking up.’”
And this morning, Politico reports, “Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) has joined Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va.) in warning leaders not to try to push a revised health care reform bill through the Senate before newly elected Republican Scott Brown arrives. McCaskill said Wednesday morning that the agenda is moving ‘going too far, too fast’ and that it would be a ‘huge mistake’ for Democrats to force a vote on a new bill in the Senate before the new senator from Massachusetts is seated.”
But the frustration of ordinary Americans with Democrats goes beyond health care. The Washington Post editors point out, “The hard truth for Democrats is that the Massachusetts election resonates with national polling results. Voters, not just in Massachusetts and certainly not just in the Republican Party, are worried about government spending. Budget deficits and the national debt alarm many Americans, and rightly so. Voters also are disappointed that President Obama's promises of pragmatic, bipartisan cooperation have not been fulfilled.” And The New York Times’ Adam Nagourney adds, “Most ominously, independent voters — who embraced Mr. Obama’s presidential campaign and are an increasingly critical constituency — seemed to have fled to Mr. Brown in Massachusetts, as they did to Republicans in races for governor in Virginia and New Jersey last November. It is hard not to view that as a repudiation of the way Mr. Obama and Democratic Congressional leaders have run things.” Tags:government healthcare, US Congress, US Senate, Washington D.C.To share or post to your site, click on "Post Link". Before addressing the word TRILLION, let's look at the word BILLION.
The next time you hear someone uses the word 'billion' in a casual manner,
think about how you want the politicians spending YOUR grandchildren's tax money.
You and your children's taxes are paying the interest on the National Debt
Let's put the word BILLION into perspective.
A billion seconds ago it was 1959.
A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.
A billion hours ago our ancestors were Living in the Stone Age.
A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.
Pre-the Obama Administration, spending a billion dollars was only 8 hours and 20 minutes ago.
Remember when Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu (D) asked Congress for
250 BILLION DOLLARS to rebuild New Orleans.
Interesting number... What does it mean?
Well, If the Government had given Your money directly to the people:
Each of the 484,674 residents of New Orleans (every man, woman and child) gets $516,528.
Or, each one of the 188,251 homes in New Orleans, your home gets $1,329,787.
Or, each family of four gets $2,066,012.
BUT THE GOVERNMENT GAVE IT TO THE GOVERNMENT
NOW THAT YOUR BRAIN IS NUMBED, CONSIDER THAT A TRILLION IS A THOUSAND BILLION
Congress was already overspending, but now they are doing so exponentially!
Now we spending a billion dollars about every 5 minutes.
The total INTEREST PAID on the National Debt since 1988 was $7,393 billion ($7.4 trillion).
The National Debt itself is projected to grow to $19,224 billion by the year 2019.
(That’s $19 trillion) And we have to pay the Interest while paying the cost of Government's operations
CONGRESS ARE YOU CRAZY?
There were very few taxes 100 years ago.
Our nation was the most prosperous in the world.
We had absolutely NO National Debt.
We had the largest middle class in the world.
What happened?
Greed, Corruption, Elitism, Liberalism, Socialism
Are American voters asleep at the switch? NOT ANY MORE! 2010 IS HERE! VOTE THE BUMS OUT

The Scott Heard Round the Nation - Senator-elect Scott Brown (MA)
State Senator Scott Brown is now US Senator-elect from the state of Massachusetts. The "Teddy Kennedy" seat now belongs to the People of the state and the nation. He is the first Republican senator from the Bay State in 31 years. This will give the GOP 41 seats in the Senate enhancing the party's ability to demand changes in legislation. Below are comments by two Republican Leaders, one by a non-partisan group, and one by a grassroots patriot.
There’s a reason the nation was focused on this race: The voters in Massachusetts, like Americans everywhere, have made it abundantly clear where they stand on health care. U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY): “I want to congratulate Senator-elect Scott Brown on his decisive victory. There’s a reason the nation was focused on this race: The voters in Massachusetts, like Americans everywhere, have made it abundantly clear where they stand on health care. They don’t want this bill and want Washington to listen to them. Americans are investing their hopes in good Republican candidates to reverse a year-long Democrat trend of ignoring the American people on the issues of health care, spending and the growth of government.”
Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN): “Massachusetts voters have sent a clear message that the Democratic majority in Congress is not in touch with the American people and that we should restart the health care debate. Senator-elect Brown’s independent voice will help provide a much-needed check and balance to a Congress that has become dominated by runaway spending and partisan politics. I congratulate Senator-elect Brown for an historic victory.”
Gary Bauer, Director Campaign for Working Families: The people of Massachusetts have sent an unmistakable message to Barack Obama and Washington Democrats: “Change is coming!” The magnitude of Scott Brown’s remarkable victory – unimaginable just one year ago – is truly historic. The message is clear. Political and media establishments are in shock tonight. Liberals coast-to-coast are rushing for their Maalox. Referring to the upcoming November elections, one major liberal donor in Silicon Valley said that Brown’s win is, “not just the canary in the coal mine. It’s the flock of dead ravens landing on the lawn.”
Grassroots Patriot Allan: It is the Scott heard round the Nation. The Brown revolution has begun! May it continue to grow until all Big Government Politicians have been kicked out of office and Freedom is restored throughout these United States!

Frances Rice, Chairman, National Black Republican Association: As we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., let us pause to reflect on who he was and why his struggle to obtain civil rights for black Americans was necessary. First, Dr. King was a Republican until the day he died because he knew that the Republican Party, from its founding in 1854 as the anti-slavery party, championed freedom and civil rights for blacks. For details on the history of civil rights, see the NBRA Civil Rights Newsletter posted on the NBRA's website.
Second, the nemesis of Dr. King's valiant and historic campaign to end discrimination and gain equality for blacks was the Democratic Party, the party of slavery, segregation and the Ku Klux Klan. Led by former Klansman [Senator, WV] Robert Byrd, Democrats launched a despicable crusade to smear and undermine Dr. King. This relentless disparagement of Dr. King resulted in his being physically assaulted and ultimately to his tragic death.
When Dr. King left Memphis, Tennessee in March of 1968 after riots broke out where a teenager was killed, Byrd called Dr. King a "trouble-maker" who starts trouble, but runs like a coward after trouble is ignited. A few weeks later, Dr. King returned to Memphis and was assassinated on April 4, 1968.
Prior to his death, Democrats bombed Dr. King's home several times. The scurrilous efforts by the Democrats to harm Dr. King included spreading rumors that he was a Communist and accusing him of being a womanizer and a plagiarist.
An egregious act against Dr. King occurred on October 10, 1963. Democrat President John F. Kennedy authorized his brother, Democrat Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, to wiretap Dr. King's telephone using the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Wiretaps were placed by the FBI on Dr. King's telephones in his home and office. The FBI also bugged Dr. King's hotel rooms when he traveled around the country.
The trigger for this unsavory wiretapping was apparently Dr. Kings' criticism of President Kennedy for ignoring civil rights issues, according to the author David Garrow in his book, "Bearing the Cross". As was pointed out in the book by Wayne Perryman: "Blacks, Whites and Racist Democrats," Kennedy voted against the 1957 Civil Rights Act while he was a senator. After Kennedy became president, he was opposed to the 1963 March on Washington by Dr. King.
The justification given by the Kennedy Administration publicly for wiretapping Dr. King was that two of Dr. King's associates, including David Levinson, had ended their association with the Communist Party in order to work undercover and influence Dr. King. However, after years of continuous and extensive wiretapping, the FBI found no direct links of Dr. King to the Communist Party.
Kennedy's disdain for blacks further manifested itself when the King family sought help with getting Dr. King out of a Birmingham jail. Kennedy's civil rights advisor, Harris Wofford who was a personal friend of Dr. King made a telephone call on behalf of Kennedy without Kennedy's knowledge. That call resulted in Dr. King's release. Kennedy was angry about the call because he feared he would lose the Southern vote. History shows, though, that the call by Wofford eventually worked in Kennedy's favor and is the primary reason so many blacks today wrongly venerate Kennedy.
The unrelenting efforts by Democrats to tarnish Dr. King's reputation continued for years after his death. To his credit, Republican President Ronald Reagan ignored the Democrats' smear campaign and made Dr. King's birthday a holiday.
Today, while professing to revere Dr. King, Democrats are still attempting to sully his image by claiming that he was a socialist. In reality, Dr. King was a Christian, guided by his faith and Republican Party principles as he struggled to gain equality for blacks. He did not embrace the type of socialist agenda that is promoted by the Democratic Party today, which includes fostering dependency on government handouts that trap blacks in generational poverty.

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Fatcats With your Money
Rep. Barney Frank: Multi-Million Dollar Bonuses to Freddie, Fannie ‘Too High’CNS News - The Obama administration recently approved base salaries of $900,000, plus $3.1 million in deferred payments, and another $2 million in bonuses for the CEOs of the failed mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. When asked if tax dollars should pay those bonuses or if they should be cancelled, the chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), told CNSNews.com that the bonuses were “too high” but “nothing can be done now.”
GM, Chrysler, Fannie, Freddie Exempt from Obama’s Proposed Tax on TARP RecipientsCNS News – Even banks that have already paid back their portion of the $700-billion federal bailout would be subject to a special tax under a White House proposal that opponents call punitive. But the failed and government-controlled mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac would not be subject to the tax, although they also received bailout money. President Obama blasted "obscene bonuses" on Wall Street Thursday.
Seventy GOP Congressmen Call on Geithner to Cancel Bonuses for CEOs at Government-Owned Fannie Mae and Freddie MacCNS News – Seventy Republican members of Congress want Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner to cancel up to $6 million in bonuses and deferred compensation -- approved before Christmas 2009 -- for the chief executive officers of the failed mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. “(T)here’s a letter that’s going to Sec. Geithner from a number of us calling for a rescission of those bonuses,” Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) told CNSNews.com Wednesday. Bill Wilson, Americans for Limited Government: “There is nothing newsworthy here.” Believe it or not, this was the only comment offered by Barack Obama’s White House after it shredded the U.S. Constitution (again) by removing Reagan era restrictions on the domestic powers of the International Criminal Police Organization, or Interpol.
“Nothing newsworthy here?” Obama unilaterally elevated a global police force above all other law enforcement agencies in America – removing Constitutional limitations and granting it powers and protections not bestowed upon any U.S. law enforcement agency, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
That’s not “newsworthy?” Obviously, Obama was hoping it wouldn’t be. That’s no doubt why he issued this executive order a week before Christmas, while most Americans were focused on finishing their last-minute holiday shopping – and while most politicos were focused on a looming U.S. Senate vote on his socialized medicine proposals. It’s also probably why Obama issued the order with such a generic title – “Amending Executive Order 12425” – and without a single word by way of explanation.
Here’s what the order said:
“By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including section 1 of the International Organizations Immunities Act (22 U.S.C. 288), and in order to extend the appropriate privileges, exemptions, and immunities to the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), it is hereby ordered that Executive Order 12425 of June 16, 1983, as amended, is further amended by deleting from the first sentence the words “except those provided by Section 2(c), Section 3, Section 4, Section 5, and Section 6 of that Act” and the semicolon that immediately precedes them.”
What this means is that Interpol’s property and assets in the United States are no longer subject to search and seizure, and that its documents are no longer available for public scrutiny through Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.
In other words, Interpol is now above the law – no longer bound by any of the Constitutional safeguards that have remained in place all these years to protect American citizens from the unlawful usurpation of their rights and freedoms.
In keeping with the arrogance of this administration and its contempt for those who stand up against such unconstitutional and tyrannical overreaching, Obama and Interpol officials moved quickly to deride those who dared to question this order – saying they were motivated by fear and ignorance of how Interpol operates.
They also presented a benign rationale for Obama’s decision, claiming that a five-person Interpol liaison office in New York (which opened in 2004) needed the same immunities granted to other international organizations. “It’s only for the New York office,” an Interpol spokeswoman told The New York Times on December 30, obviously attempting to deflect attention away from the fact that Interpol also has an office located inside Obama’s Justice Department complex in Washington, D.C.
Let’s examine the ridiculousness of this cover story for a moment. First of all, those “other international organizations” aren’t police forces. Nor do they work directly with the International Criminal Court – another global authority whose influence Obama wants to elevate at the expense of American rights and liberties. Second, does anyone really believe that Obama would overturn a quarter century of established U.S. policy – to say nothing of the U.S. Constitution – to appease five global law enforcement bureaucrats?
And if that was the real reason, why all the secrecy? Consider this: Under the provisions of Obama’s Interpol order, the government could create a repository of law enforcement files that no American – and no American Congressman, for that matter – would ever be able to access. And no investigation into that agency’s activities could ever be launched because its police force now has total immunity.
According to the Times article, “the White House said it put out no statement with (Obama)’s order because it viewed the matter as uninteresting.”
“Uninteresting?” Not “newsworthy?” Not on your life. This executive order clearly has nothing to do with the “New York office” of Interpol – and everything to do with Obama’s ongoing assault on American sovereignty and the individual liberties of our citizens.Tags:ALG News, American sovereignty, Bill Wilson, immunity, Interpol, national sovereignty, President Barack ObamaTo share or post to your site, click on "Post Link". The Born Again Americans:TEACHER ARRESTED IN NEW YORK-
A public school teacher was arrested today at John F. Kennedy International Airport as he attempted to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a compass, a slide-rule and a calculator.
At a morning press conference, the Attorney General Eric Holder said he believes the man is a member of the notorious Al-Gebra movement. He did not identify the man, who has been charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction.
'Al-Gebra is a problem for us', the Attorney General said. 'They derive solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in search of absolute values.' They use secret code names like 'X' and 'Y' and refer to themselves as 'unknowns', but we have determined that they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country.
As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, 'There are 3 sides to every triangle'.
When asked to comment on the arrest, President Obama said, 'If God had wanted us to have better weapons of math instruction, he would have given us more fingers and toes.'
White House aides told reporters they could not recall a more intelligent or profound statement by the President.
It is believed that the Nobel Prize for Physics will follow--- OK... Now President Obama, stop being the butt of these kind of jokes and do what the constitution allows you to do which is "PROTECT THE AMERICAN PUBLIC"... We are at war you "------," stop denying it and act to protect us, not the enemy... Tags:Barack Obama, political satire, terrorists, warTo share or post to your site, click on "Post Link". MSNBC's Schultz: I'd Cheat To Keep Brown From Winning In Massachusetts
MSNBC's Ed Schultz told radio listeners yesterday that he thinks cheating is justified in order to prevent Scott Brown's victory in Massachusetts. No wonder MSNBC is losing viewers. Advocating cheating in voting should be a crime like advocating the murder of a person. In addition, Shultz slanders "these people" (Conservatives and Republicans) "Bastards." Where is the public outcry to remove Schultz from the airwaves? Listen for yourself:
