Tancredo contracts Dobson’s disease

Supreme Court Cast Provides Preview of Pending Loss of Sovereignty Under the Law Of Sea Treaty
Eagle Forum Alert: Just this week, the U.S. Supreme Court gave us an important look into what kind of global power grabs we face if the Senate ratifies the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST). On October 10, the Supreme Court heard arguments in the case of Jose Medellin, an illegal alien rapist-murderer now on death row in Texas. Medellin, a citizen of Mexico who lived illegally in the United States, was convicted and sentenced to death after he confessed in 1993 to the brutal rape and murder of two teenage girls in Houston.
Long after Medellin had received the full due process of the American legal system, in 2003 the Mexican government sued the United States in the International Court of Justice (known as the "World Court"), an agency of the United Nations which sits at The Hague in The Netherlands. In 2004 the World Court ruled in favor of Mexico and ordered the United States to give Medellin another hearing, or perhaps another trial, at which he could receive the assistance of Mexican consular employees.
A 1963 treaty known as the Vienna Convention, which both the United States and Mexico have signed and ratified, provides that aliens who are accused of crimes in a foreign country are entitled to request the assistance of consular officials of their home country. Medellin never requested such assistance until long after he was tried, convicted and sentenced, and after all his appeals were denied. Of course, Medellin did receive the assistance of competent American legal defense lawyers throughout the process, and there is no reason to think that the presence of a Mexican consul could have made any difference in the outcome.
Incredibly, the Bush Administration has knuckled under to the World Court and tried to order the Texas courts to give Medellin another hearing. The Texas courts properly refused to honor this unconstitutional interference, and the Texas decision was upheld by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. This case shows why the U.S. Senate should not agree to diminish American sovereignty by ratifying another UN treaty called the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST).
LOST would be a form of world government with power to decide all matters relating to the two-thirds of the earth's surface covered by the oceans. All disputes arising from man's use of the sea would be heard and decided by the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, a 21-member international court that sits in Hamburg, Germany. There is no appeal from that court, which has the power to disregard or override U.S. laws and even the U.S. Constitution. Horner,Human Events: So, former Vice President Al Gore is worthy of a Nobel Peace Prize, awarded every year with a nice bag of money “to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.” The first thought that naturally springs to mind is a movie by a politician of him giving speeches about something that, well, won’t stand up in court.
And why not? Yasser Arafat took the honor, as did Mohamed El Baradei just a few years ago for his efforts to stop nuclear weapons proliferation. No, seriously. Kofi Anan shared the 2001 award with the United Nations, which force for global good actually boasts a handful of the trinkets. Henry Kissinger shared the Peace Prize in 1973 with Le Duc Tho, who refused it, apparently too busy planning the Communist conquest of South Vietnam . . . . Gorbachev picked one up for ending the Cold War -- you remember that, don’t you? And so on. In short, the Nobel committee has a long history of sober, rational thought.
Most important, however, let us not forget the woman who blazed the trail for Gore, Rigoberta Menchu, who was exposed as a fraud and fabricator for her tale of Guatemalan oppression of their Indian population. Or, possibly, Milli Vanilli’s Grammy for lip-synching to the bad pop music of others is the more appropriate analog, what with the Nobel’s incredibly shrinking prestige.
So, Gore was the Menchu-rian Candidate for an award that, we must recall, is determined by Northern European politicians. Little oldIrena Sendler, who saved 2,500 children during the Holocaust, didn’t stand a chance against a harrumphing American desperate to finger his country for causing Third World weather. . . .
In an odd way Gore receiving the award just made sense, coming as it did on the heels of a court in London determining, after hearing three days of evidence, that the movie inspiring the award, “An Inconvenient Truth”, can only be shown in English schools if it carries a warning label. . . . Gema Rivera-Soto, 42, pleaded guilty to the same charges Tuesday. In a deal with prosecutors, Pedroza agreed to plead guilty to one count of a four indictment, aiding and abetting the harboring illegal aliens. The other counts are expected to be dismissed as part of the plea deal at sentencing. Pedroza was facing up to 35 years in prison and up to $1 million in fines.The charges, which also included money laundering, arose from May 21 raids by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. by Suzanne Gamboa: A federal judge temporarily delayed construction Wednesday of a 1.5-mile section of a U.S.-Mexico border fence in a wildlife conservation area on the Arizona-Mexico border. The Defenders of Wildlife and the Sierra Club had requested a 10-day delay in a motion alleging the Bureau of Land Management and other agencies failed to conduct a thorough study of the fence's effects on the environment. U.S. District Judge Ellen Segal Huvelle said she granted the delay because the federal government did not explain why it hurried through an environmental assessment and quickly began construction of the fence. . . . President Bush signed a law last year ordering the Department of Homeland Security to build 700 miles of fence along the U.S.-Mexico border. Opponents of the fence have said it will interfere with wildlife, disrupt commerce and disturb the bilateral way of life along the border. by Scott Miller, The Conservative Post: Chicken Little (aka Al Gore) got some bad news today from across the pond. As we indicated in a post last week, a British Judge was scheduled to rule on a lawsuit that challenged the ability of British schools to play Chicken Little’s piece of fiction, An Inconvenient Truth, to impressionable children. This from Metro Newspaper,Judge: Al Gore’s nine incovenient truths:
A High Court judge turned film critic today as he highlighted “nine scientific errors” in Al Gore’s Oscar-winning climate change documentary, An Inconvenient Truth. The judge said some of the errors had arisen in “the context of alarmism and exaggeration” to support the former US vice-president’s thesis on global warming.
The Government’s decision to show the film in secondary schools had come under attack from father-of-two Stewart Dimmock, a Kent school governor and a member of political group the The New Party, who accused the Government of “brainwashing” children with propaganda. Mr Justice Burton ruled at London’s High Court that the film, much acclaimed by environmentalists, could be shown in schools as part of a climate change resource pack, but only if it was accompanied by new guidance notes to balance Mr Gore’s “one-sided” views.
The judge said it might be necessary for the Department of Children, Schools and Families to make clear to teaching staff that some of Mr Gore’s views were not supported or promoted by the Government, and there was “a view to the contrary.” But the judge then set out nine alleged errors in the film in which statements were made that were not supported by the current mainstream scientific consensus.
ERROR:Mr Gore asserted that a sea-level rise of up to 20 feet would be caused by melting of either West Antarctica or Greenland “in the near future.” The judge said: “This is distinctly alarmist and part of Mr Gore’s “wake-up call.” It was common ground that if Greenland melted it would release this amount of water - “but only after, and over, millennia.”
ERROR:The film had also asserted that low-lying inhabited Pacific atolls “are being inundated because of anthropogenic global warming” - but there was no evidence of any evacuation having yet happened.
ERROR:The documentary had also spoken of global warming “shutting down the Ocean Conveyor” - the process by which the Gulf Stream is carried over the North Atlantic to western Europe. The judge said that, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), it was “very unlikely” that the Ocean Conveyor, also known as the Meridional Overturning Circulation, would shut down in the future, though it might slow down.
ERROR:Mr Gore had also asserted - by ridiculing the opposite view - that two graphs, one plotting a rise in C02 and the other the rise in temperature over a period of 650,000 years, showed “an exact fit.” The judge said that, although there was general scientific agreement that there was a connection, “the two graphs do not establish what Mr Gore asserts.”
ERROR:Mr Gore had asserted that the disappearance of snow on Mt Kilimanjaro was expressly attributable to global warming. The judge said this had “specifically impressed” the Environment Secretary David Miliband. But the scientific consensus was that it cannot be established that the recession of snows on Mt Kilimanjaro is mainly attributable to human-induced climate change.
ERROR:The drying up of Lake Chad was used in the film as a prime example of a catastrophic result of global warming, said the judge. “However, it is generally accepted that the evidence remains insufficient to establish such an attribution. It is apparently considered to be far more likely to result from other factors, such as population increase and over-grazing, and regional climate variability.”
ERROR: Mr Gore ascribes Hurricane Katrina and the consequent devastation in New Orleans to global warming, but there was “insufficient evidence to show that.”
ERROR:Mr Gore had also referred to a new scientific study showing that, for the first time, polar bears were being found that had actually drowned “swimming long distances - up to 60 miles - to find the ice.” The judge said: “The only scientific study that either side before me can find is one which indicates that four polar bears have recently been found drowned because of a storm.” That was not to say there might not in future be drowning-related deaths of bears if the trend of regression of pack ice continued - “but it plainly does not support Mr Gore’s description”.
ERROR:Mr Gore said in the film that coral reefs all over the world were bleaching because of global warming and other factors. The judge said the IPCC had reported that, if temperatures were to rise by 1-3 degrees centigrade, there would be increased coral bleaching and mortality, unless the coral could adapt. But separating the impacts of stresses due to climate change from other stresses, such as over-fishing, and pollution was difficult.
It’s about time we are seeing some rationality begin to creep into this discussion on so- called man made global warming. It is my belief that the credibility of Chicken Little’s little piece of fiction will erode steadily over time. Capitol Architect Reverses; Allows "God" On U.S. Flag Certificates
Fox News: The Architect of the Capitol, responding to a public outcry, ruled Thursday that, from now on, the word "God" may be inscribed on certificates accompanying flags that have flown over the U.S. Capitol. Acting Architect Stephen T Ayers said in a statement that the policy of disallowing political and religious statements on flag certificates has been inconsistently applied and does not fulfill the objectives of the office.
"It is inappropriate and beyond the scope of this agency’s responsibilities to censor messages from members," Ayers said. "The Architect’s role is to certify that flags are appropriately flown over the U.S. Capitol, and any messages on the flag certificates are personal and between a Member of Congress and his or her constituents,” Ayers said. “The Office of the Architect of the Capitol is a service organization. Flying the flags over theCapitol is an important constituent service for Members of Congress. by Dr. Patrick Briney, Chaplain, NFRA and President, ARRA: There is talk that the Republican Party may not offer voters a candidate that is clearly better than Hillary. If this is the case, it is evidence that the Republican Party has been hijacked by liberal thinking and leadership.
There are some in the Religions Right suggesting the possible need for a third party candidate. But, a lot of good that would do. A third party candidate is a guaranteed loss and waste of votes. Sure, a good, third party conservative candidate may soothe the minds of the voting conservatives, but beyond feeling good about themselves, their votes are no better than the ones not cast. Conservatives are faced with this socio-political dilemma: “to vote or not to vote, that is the question!”
It behooves conservatives to consider whether to cast their vote for the good of their private consciences or for the good of the public well-being. I am not endorsing in anyway compromise of one’s conscience. Rather, I wish to point out that 1) the decision to vote in the election is not the same as who to vote for, and 2) there are many choices we make that are regarded as amoral rather than immoral.
Take for example buying a Christmas toy from Wal-Mart. Your purchase enriches this retailer with your money. It enriches the employees who sell you the product. You are encouraging this organization to continue providing you with their services. You have chosen them over another retailer and given them your support. For the purpose of this discussion, you have cast your vote (with monetary support) to advance them over their competitors. Your purchase (vote) for Wal-Mart is an endorsement of Wal-Mart. Or is it?
Is buying a toy from Wal-Mart a moral choice? Is it an endorsement of all they stand for and your nod of moral approval for all the vendors who provide the products that you buy via Wal-Mart. Is your patronage of Wal-Mart and purchase of Chinese goods your vote of moral approval of all that China stands for?
The fact is, we are so intermingled with the intricate web of social workings of the world, economically and politically, that every decision we make can be argued to be a moral choice. Even the Amish cannot escape benefiting from or contributing to the benefit of liberals and sinners. Because the world lies in immorality and humanity is steeped in immorality, there is no escaping the fact that the very act of choosing to live benefits the immoral as well as the moral. Does this make your choice to live an immoral choice or an endorsement of immorality? Does visiting a doctor who stands for all that you do in principles but buys his drugs and equipment to the benefit of those who are of liberal persuasion make you a liberal or your choice immoral? I leave this up to you to debate in your own mind. If you look to the Bible for guidance consider Matthew 5:45, which tells us that God sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
The way I see it, when you live in a political system that offers only two winnable choices regardless of the presence of other ‘also ran’ candidates, you must decide whether your choice to vote is a private, moral decision or a socially responsible decision. In other words, you must choose whether to vote or not to vote.
I submit to you that casting a vote for a guaranteed loser is no better socially than choosing not to cast your vote. This is a decision to not cast a socially, responsible vote that will make a difference. Thus, the morality to be decided in this upcoming election is a decision whether you will cast your vote to make a social difference (not necessarily an endorsement) or to leave the choice in the hands of your opponents.
I understand the mental and emotional conflict this dilemma poses. I feel the burden of it and taste the bitterness of having to make such a choice. I sympathize with everyone who cannot separate the social choices offered from the private feelings of endorsement. But, failing to cast a vote to make a difference violates my conscience as much as voting for someone who does not represent all of my principles.
So what am I or you to do about this dilemma? I am glad that question has been asked because it is the answer to this question that may liberate our consciences. Recognizing that we live in a two party system and that political leadership is chosen from the ranks one of these two parties, it behooves conservatives to prepare and offer winnable candidates of their choice within one of these parties. A conservative, political farm is needed to raise up champions. The success of such an endeavor depends on the commitment and response of those who are capable to do the job. The next step is to help these champions win the primary election and then the general. What if a solid conservative is not forthcoming for the primary elections? From Senate sources: According to the latest Gallup poll, just 23% of Americans approve of the job Congress is doing. Gallup writes, “Congressional job approval is essentially the same as it was last month but slightly higher than the 18% reading in August, which matched a 1992 rating as the lowest Gallup has measured since 1974.”
The House Judiciary Committeepassed a four-year extension of the moratorium on Internet access taxes after defeating Republicans proposals to extend the ban permanently or for eight years. Sens. McConnell, McCain, and Sununu are working to get a vote on a permanent ban in the Senate. National Review Online has an editorial today backing a permanent ban.
Democrat Leaders' Dirty Tricks: Despite repeated promises from Democrats on the campaign trail last year of a return to regular order on legislation, Roll Call reports today that Democrats will again bypass the traditional conference committee on a major piece of legislation. Democrat leaders in the House and Senate will hash out differences between different versions of an energy bill behind closed doors, in the same way that the ethics reform bill was negotiated earlier this year. House Democrats are apparently upset about the lack of conference committees, but have decided to try to blame Senate Republicans instead of their own leadership.
Meanwhile, Americans United for Change, a liberal group running attack ads on SCHIP, gets it wrong in a Kentucky ad claiming that private insurance companies are against the Democrats’ SCHIP expansion.

Mark Levin says some conservatives are enabling very inaccurate criticisms of Thompson:This "senior moment" and "Fred Thompson-is-lazy" stuff is really starting to irk. I remember hearing the same comments about Ronald Reagan in every campaign in which I participated — 1976 and 1980. And this tactic was especially used against him in 1984. Arkansas Judge's Order Allows 17 Year Old Male To Marry
by Rob Moritz, Arkansas News Bureau: A 17-year-old male headed to the military has married his 18-year-old girlfriend with a judge's permission in Pulaski County, further clouding the issues surrounding a new state law governing underage nuptials. George Adams III of Alexander said Tuesday he was denied a marriage license in neighboring Saline Co. after being told he was too young under a revised state law that set the marriage age of consent at 18. Adams turns 18 on Nov. 21. In Pulaski Co., however, Adams said an employee of the county clerk's office told him he could get married if he got a judge's approval. On Friday, Adams, fiance Millicent Sears, also of Alexander, and his mother met with Circuit Judge Richard Moore, who later signed the order allowing for the marriage license to be issued." If you can enlist under 18, take an Federal oath binding you to 2 to 4 years military service, drive a Hummer or Truck, carry a gun, be asked to kill and die for your country, they you should be able to get married! Also does Act 441 make sense when it sets the age for marriage at 18 but allows a girl under 18 who is pregnant to get married but denies the father of the child who is also under 18 from marring her? Do young ladies only get pregnant with older guys? But they can go to an abortion clinic together! It is time for the legislature to fix many of these problems. What about those teens who have appeared before the court and has been legally emancipated and declared competent to live on their own without a guardian or parental oversight? by Chuck Baldwin: George W. Bush was twice elected President of the United States with great assistance from evangelical Christians, who, almost universally, believed he was a born-again believer. Many still hold onto that belief. In fact, evangelical Christians compose the bulk of the ever-shrinking base of support Bush has left. This is due almost exclusively to this belief that Bush is a born-again Christian. . . . Then again, how would our Christian brethren react if someone came into their church and said that "all religions pray to the same God"? . . . Yet, that is exactly what President Bush has said repeatedly. The latest example was just last Friday, October 5, 2007. In an interview with Al Arabiya reporter Elie Nakouzi, Bush said, "I believe that all the world, whether they be Muslim, Christian, or any other religion, prays to the same God." . . . George W. Bush is the first President in U.S. history to celebrate Ramadan in the White House. He is also the first President to worship and pray in a Shinto temple. . . .
Anyone with even a casual knowledge of Islam knows that when Muhammad founded the Muslim religion there were about 300 pagan gods being worshipped in the region. He selected the moon god, Allah, and proclaimed it to be the one true God. This is, of course, the origin of the crescent moon symbol of Islam. Therefore, when President Bush says Muslims and Christians worship the same god, he is saying the Lord Jesus Christ is not superior to the pagan moon god, Allah. Or to turn it around, Bush is saying the pagan moon god, Allah, is equal to the Lord Jesus Christ. And it would appear that Bush would have the same belief regarding the Shinto gods, or any other pagan god, for that matter.
So, here is the sixty-four million dollar question: can a Christian pray to Allah or to any other false god? Can a Christian worship any other god? Can a Christian recognize a pagan god to be equal to the Lord Jesus Christ? Every true Christian knows that the Lord Jesus Christ is the only way to God the Father. Jesus is not "a" way of salvation. He is the only way of salvation, and His is the only name whereby we are saved. No man comes unto the Father except through Christ (John 14:6; Acts 4:12). This is Christianity 101. Capitol Architect & Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) Deleting God from Flag Certificates
by Tony Perkins, FRC Washington Update: Since 1937 U.S. citizens have been able to request from their Senator or Representative a U.S. flag that has flown over the U.S. Capitol, along with a certificate honoring a certain individual or event. It wasn't until a young Eagle Scout recently wanted to give a flag to his grandfather that Rep. Michael Turner (R-OH) discovered that the Architect, appointed by Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) earlier this year, was editing the requested wording on the certificate - strictly enforcing a 2003 ban on religious expressions on the certificates. "God" was struck from the Scout's tribute to his grandfather's "dedication and love of God, country and family." Rep. Turner first ran some "tests requests" to discover how strictly this policy was being enforced. In one request he included the Pledge of Allegiance, with the phrase "under God." That made it through. In a second request, he included the oath delivered to new members of Congress and the same two words - under God - were omitted. A number of Members of Congress have sent a letter to Speaker Pelosi requesting a reversal of this arbitrary policy. With the new supposed focus on God coming from the Speaker and her fellow Democrats one would think they would be more sensitive to such censorship. Call Your Senators to Confirm Judge Leslie Southwick
The nomination of Judge Leslie Southwick for the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals is now before the United States Senate. Judge Southwick was nominated by the President in January of this year to fill a seat that has been vacant since the end of 2004. Judge Southwick is a supremely qualified jurist and an American patriot who served as an active Army officer in Iraq for almost two years, but still some radical liberals in the Senate wish to block his nomination for petty political reasons. The installation of good judges is the single most critical component of curbing judicial activism. Call your senator and tell them that you want him or her to confirm this excellent judge. Tancredo days numbered as GOP presidential candidate Others need to stop crowding the stage
by Steve Paulson: GOP presidential candidate Tom Tancredo said Monday that his campaign will be "pretty much over with" unless he can finish in the top three in either the New Hampshire or Iowa primary contests. Then, he says he'll decide whether to seek re-election to the House. . . .Tancredo remains at the rear of the field, ranking fifth in the latest home-state polls behind Fred Thompson, Rudy Giuliani, John McCain and Mitt Romney. Still, he said he already has influenced the race by forcing the other candidates to address his signature issue, illegal immigration. . . .
Bill Smith, ARRA News Editor: It's time for Tom Tancredo to bow out as a GOP presidential candidate -- to save money and to focus on his Congressional duties and being a spokesman against open borders and the growing threat of Islamic terrorism. Tom, thank you! Now get back in there and retain your seat as a congressman.
However, I must address a statement by Tancredo in Steve Paulson article: "Bush and Republicans in Congress hurt themselves in last year's election by abandoning their principles." Tancredo is a Republican, and stood by his principles. Duncan Hunter, Ron Paul, John Boozman and many other Republicans served their constituents well and stood by their Republican principles in Congress.
It is disappointing that some candidates have chosen to practice political-flagellation. When Tancredo criticized all Republicans -- he also criticized himself. This is one reason that his campaign has gone nowhere with a majority of Republicans on the national level. Likely Republican voters are not looking for a presidential candidate who is "running against" the current incumbent president or the past errors of the former Republican congressional leadership. They are looking toward the future seeking to defeat the presumptive Democrat candidate -- Hillary Clinton.
Tancredo's campaign serves as a warning to the other presidential candidates. Republicans do not want to hear candidates run down the Republican Party or their elected Republican officials with statements of association. Republicans want a candidate to address what they will do if they were to become president and to evidence that if chosen by Republicans, that the candidate will afford non-Republican voters the best option to restrain Government's further intrusion into private lives and private resources, afford them protection and security, and provide future peace and stability within the U.S. borders for their children and grandchildren. And, as noted previously, they want to defeat the presumptive Democrat candidate -- Hillary Clinton.
Tancredo did not demonstrate these required elements to a significant number of likely Republican voters. There are several others lower tiered candidates who have also not demonstrated these elements. It is now time for these least likely candidates to withdraw and to stop crowding the stage and wasting critical time and resources. Over Half of Americans Distrust the Mass Media [Gallup Poll]

Nearly half of Americans -- including over three-quarters of Republicans -- perceive the media as too liberal while fewer than one in five say the media are too conservative. Americans are less likely to perceive bias in their local news media than in the national news media. . . . One reason for this general distrust of the media is the fact that only about a third of Americans today say that the news media are "just about right" when it comes to ideological balance. From Senate sources:The Politico notes the controversy around the family of 12-year-old Graeme Frost, who the Democrats used to respond to the president’s radio address last week and argue for an expansion of SCHIP. However, the article fails to note that the story originally gained traction among conservative bloggers (though it does link to a post by Michelle Malkin).
CQ Today reports on unions and other groups using SCHIP as a cudgel against House Republicans and on the alternative that Senate Republicans are offering.
The New York Times suggests Democrats may be ready to compromise on FISA legislation, but an AP report says their draft bill will demand “the details of all electronic surveillance conducted without court orders since Sept. 11, 2001” from the Justice Department. The AP also notes the Democrats’ bemusing name for their bill, the “Responsible Electronic Surveillance That is Overseen, Reviewed and Effective Act of 2007” or “RESTORE Act.”

The chamber with then resume consideration of the fiscal 2008 Commerce-Justice-Science (CJS) appropriations bill (H.R. 3093). President Bush has threatened to veto the $56 billion CJS bill. Prior to adjourning for recess, the Senate adopted an amendment adding $1 billion for NASA by voice vote. Following completion of the CJS bill, the Senate is expected to move to consideration of the Labor-HHS-Education appropriations bill (H.R. 3043). Senator Calls Law of the Sea Treaty a "Disaster" For America
by Cliff Kincaid: Liberal Senate Democrats and the U.S. State Department are desperate to get the U.N.'s Law of the Sea Treaty ratified. But Senator David Vitter, a conservative Republican, keeps getting in the way. Through skillful questioning during Thursday's Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing, the Louisiana Republican got a leading treaty supporter to acknowledge that America's enemies can manipulate the process of mandatory dispute settlement under the treaty so that the United Nations Secretary-General plays the key role in the outcome. Vitter called this a "recipe for disaster" for America and urged more hearings into the treaty's flaws.
Ratification wasn't supposed to be this difficult. Republicans on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee were supposed to go meekly along with a treaty that enjoys the backing of the Bush Administration. But Senators Vitter and Jim DeMint of South Carolina have decided they should do their duty and read and analyze the pact. What they have found is frightening. Vitter, in another display of skillful questioning, was able to demonstrate on Thursday that the Secretary-General of the United Nations plays a critical role under the treaty in resolving disputes among nations. Illegal alien population may be as high as 38 million

Iowa GOP Candidate Poll Numbers -Time for Some Lower Tier Candidates to Retire
The Des Moines Register has released the October polling numbers for Republican presidential candidates.While Mitt Romney still leads in Iowa, Fred Thompson has emerged as his nearest competitor in a new Des Moines Register poll of likely Republican caucus participants. Mike Huckabee and Rudy Giuliani are in a tight race for third place. John McCain is behind Huckabee and Giuliani and is now a significant leader of the lower tier candidates in Iowa. Even Ron Paul, who gets a lot of comments in postings in the Des Moines Register online site, is lagging at the bottom which suggests his supporters may be few but vocal in posting comments.
A major question continues. Why don't the lower tier candidates who are receiving almost no support and have no chance of winning or changing their position, face the music and back out of the race for the GOP presidential nomination. We would than have a better view of who truly will be the candidates of choice to Iowa Republicans. Since Alan Keys is a recent contender, he deserves the opportunity for more time to be looked as he gets his message out to the voters. However, others are going nowhere. John Cox 0%, Duncan Hunter 1%, Sam Brownback 2%, and Ron Paul 4% are on the bottom. At least the bottom three should save both themselves and their constituents money and gracefully retire from the race. Even though Tom Tancredo polled at 5%, he was not included in the list recommended to withdraw because he is only slightly behind John McCain and a 9% undecided vote. Regardless, what the final outcome will be, one thing is sure - John Cox , Sam Brownback and Duncan Hunter are going nowhere in Iowa.[Source of Iowa GOP Polling Numbers]

Vickey Boozman Running for AR Dist 99 Representative
Bill Smith, ARRA Editor: Vickey Boozman, widow of Fay Boozman, has announced that she will run for the Arkansas House seat representing District 99. She announcement her intention on the Benton County Courthouse. Boozman is not knew to the political scene having helped her husband run for office, having worked on many other campaigns of conservative candidates in Northwest Arkansas over the past 17 years. In 2004 and 2006, she managed the re-election campaigns of her brother-in-law, U. S. Rep. John Boozman of Rogers. Vickey Boozman, 61, lives outside Bentonville in Cave Springs. She has three grown children and six grandchildren. She’s a member of the state Board of Health and is a board member of the Little Rock-based Family Council.
District 99 is currently occupied by Rep. Horace Hardwick, R-Bentonville who is barred by Arkansas term limits from continuing in the position. As of this time, Boozman will be running against Tim Summers of Bentonville in the Republican primary. Summers had been a Democrat for his former years in elected office but switched to Republican when he announced he would be running for the District 99 seat.
A large number of ARRA readers in Arkansas know Vickey Boozman. As Republicans we have respected Vickey over the years and appreciate the fact that she has chosen to run for office and to serve her district. We wish her the best because we know Vickey Boozman is not a Republican in Name Only (RINO). We know of her service as a board member of the Little Rock-based Family Council, whee she worked to uphold moral and traditional family values and Republican principles and ideals. Even though many of us live outside of her district and will not be able to vote for Vickey, we wish her God's blessing as she seeks election to serve the people of District 99 as their Arkansas State Representative. On Wednesday, we reported that per the Rasmussen Reports for the Republican Presidential Nomination, Fred Thompson led Rudy Giuliani by 2% but were both statistical in a dead heat. Yesterday, Angus Reid reported on a poll by Ipsos-Public Affairs released by the Associated Press which showed Giuliani 7% ahead of Thompson: Rudy Giuliani 30%; Fred Thompson 23%; John McCain 15%; Mitt Romney 10%; Mike Huckabee 4%; Ron Paul 2% all others less than 2%. We do not know the poll's validity. We did note a significant computational error in the poll's report in Sept.
TheRasmussen Reports on Friday continued to report Fred Thompson leading leading Giuliani by 2% for likely primary voters: Fred Thompson 21%; Rudy Giuliani 19%; Mitt Romney 16%; John McCain 11%; Mike Huckabee 4%;Ron Paul at 3% (see recent daily numbers). Critical is that 21% of Likely Primary Voters haven't made up their mind and are not sure how they will vote. This fact and the closeness of the top candidates means the race is still head-to-head. Giuliani’s favorable ratings among all voters fell to 44%, lowest level of the year, and 66% of Republicans. Thompson favorably is 37% of all voters and 61% of Republicans. Romney favorably by 41% of all voters and 62% of Republicans. John McCain has the highest favorability rating of 52% of all voters with .61% of Republicans but he still has the highest negative ratings within the party at 35%.
In the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination the candidate of choice from Likely Democrat Primary Voters still remains as Hillary Clinton 42%; Barack Obama 27%; John Edwards 12%; Bill Richardson 4% (see recent daily numbers).
