287(g) Welcome In NW Arkansas Rogers Arkansas will not be a sanctuary city for illegal immigrants
U.S. Rep. John Boozman (R-AR) praised the formal agreements between Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and four Northwest Arkansas law enforcement agencies to implement the 287(g) program, allowing the agencies to perform immigration law enforcement functions. Last month, 19 Northwest Arkansas officers and deputies graduated from 287(g) training in Boston, but were waiting on finalized agreements before beginning to perform their additional duties. Additionally, the City of Fort Smith and the Arkansas State Police have expressed interest in obtaining additional federal training.
Boozman said: This is an important day for the people of Washington and Benton counties as a new regional cooperative effort is formed to help address illegal immigration. Cooperation between local law enforcement and the federal government on homeland security issues was one of the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission, and I am happy to see that cooperation manifest in Northwest Arkansas. The police departments of Rogers and Springdale, and the sheriff’s offices in Washington and Benton counties have all signed memorandums of understanding with ICE to lay out the operational rules for the regional task force. The 287(g) program is important to local law enforcement, and it is welcome in the Third District. It represents a partnership between federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to improve the quality of community policing in our neighborhoods, cities, and counties. It creates a seamless web of information sharing and training which will result in making our communities safer.

The public at large must be able to trust their elected representatives to do the job. When that faith is shaken, not only do the government institutions suffer, but the country does as well. A new survey shows that trust in the federal government is at its lowest point in this decade. People are tired of double talk, scandals, partisan attacks, and lies. In fact, according to the survey, trust in many of the government institutions is "now lower than it was during the Watergate era, generally recognized as the low point in American history for trust in government." The new Gallup poll entitled Low Trust in Federal Government Rivals Watergate Era Levels is a continuation of Gallup's tracking of "trust in government" polling which began in 1972. . . .
Gallup does point out that the lack of trust is primarily directed at the federal government level. This should come as no surprise given the media attention generated whenever there is a new scandal (especially from a Republican). The Gallup poll notes that there has been "no observable decline of public trust in state and local governments. Sixty-seven percent of Americans now express trust in their state government, matching the levels of 2004 and 2005. Sixty-nine percent also trust their local government, similar to what Gallup has found since 2001." . . . Gingrich to remain Citizen Activist - Won’t Run for Presidency
By Libby Quaid, AP: Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich will not run for president in 2008 after determining he could not legally explore a bid and remain as head of his tax-exempt political organization, a spokesman said Saturday. "Newt is not running," spokesman Rick Tyler said. "It is legally impermissible for him to continue on as chairman of American Solutions (Winning the Future: A 21st Century Contract with America) and to explore a campaign for president." Gingrich decided "to continue on raising the challenges America faces and finding solutions to those challenges" as the group's chairman, Tyler said, "rather than pursuing the presidency." Only on Friday, Gingrich said he had given himself a deadline of Oct. 21 to raise $30 million for a possible White House and that the task was difficult, through not impossible. [Source]

Mr. Gingrich was “presented with legal advice this morning,” said Mr. Tyler in a quick phone interview. “There was a choice presented.” The choice was to remain chairman of his political action committee, American Solutions, or to allow advisers to move forward with an exploratory committee. by NIT: Investigators with the Government Accountability Office found various security vulnerabilities along the U.S.-Canadian border that terrorists could exploit to bring an unconventional weapon into this country . . . “That border is so long. Security on the border has not really increased too much since the French and Indian War, frankly,” said John Cooney, GAO assistant director for forensic audits and special investigations. Senate Finance Committee members expressed deep worries regarding security on the U.S. side of the border, the Ottawa Citizen reported. “They’re simply wide open, waiting to be crossed by anyone carrying anything — even a dirty bomb or a suitcase-type nuclear device,” said Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA). “Quite frankly, it’s hard to believe there’s been so little progress in plugging these gaping security holes.”
. . . “In three of the four locations on the U.S.-Canada border, investigators carried a duffel bag across the border to simulate the cross-border movement of radioactive materials or other contraband,” the agency said. Similar efforts were not attempted at the Mexico border due to “safety considerations.” The agency reported a number of other security problems.
Investigators found that state roads near or parallel to the border “were unmanned, unmonitored or both.” In one instance, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers could not find investigators even after receiving reports of suspicious activity, the Citizen reported. In another case, it took guards 20 minutes to respond after security cameras caught investigators taking photographs of a closed port of entry. NRA Convention Review: Presidential Candidates Address NRA Celebration Of American Values
NRA-ILA (Filed 9/29/07): On Sept. 21, the NRA held its first "Celebration of American Values" conference, providing NRA members the opportunity to hear some of our nation's most important leaders address Second Amendment issues. Hundreds attended and the event was broadcast nationally by C-SPAN. The most anticipated speakers were a number of 2008 Presidential candidates . . . Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), former Sen. Fred Thompson (R-TN), former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AR),and former NY City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Gov. Bill Richardson (D-NM provided videotaped remarks, as did former Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA.) and U.S. Rep.s Duncan Hunter (R-CA) and Tom Tancredo (R-CO). Other speakers were Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Sen. John Thune (R-SD), Rep. John Dingell (D-MI), Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY), Gov. Haley Barbour (R-MI), former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA), former Gov. Jim Gilmore (R-VA), and former U.S. AG John Ashcroft. Senator John McCain . . . spoke of his long history of working with the NRA. "When I first ran for Congress in 1982, I was proud to have the support of gun owners and the National Rifle Association. For more than two decades, I've opposed the efforts of the anti-gun crowd to ban guns, ban ammunition, ban magazines, and paint gun owners as some kind of fringe group; dangerous in 'modern' America. Some even call you 'extremists.' My friends, gun owners are not extremists, you are the core of modern America."
Former Sen. Fred Thompson told the crowd, "I think we are winning on the interpretation of the Second Amendment. I've always taken the position that—kind of a complicated position that I've worked out—the Constitution means what it says." This affirmation of a simple and basic truth was met with thunderous applause from the gathered NRA members.
Gov. Mike Huckabee spoke of his lifelong love of hunting and the outdoors, but reminded all, "I'm a hunter. But that's not what the Second Amendment is about." He went on to discuss what he believes "the Second Amendment is and why it's important. First of all, it protects our families. We have a constitutional right, granted to us, in the wisdom of our forefathers, to protect our families—to protect them from criminals, to protect them from whatever might harm them. And it is as much of a constitutional right as it is the right to speak out against our government."
Former New York City Rudy Giuliani history as mayor of support for gun control, and the lawsuit he and his city filed against the firearm industry have raised legitimate questions about his position on Second Amendment issues. Mayor Giuliani tried to allay those fears, saying, "I believe, and I'm sure you do, that law enforcement should focus on enforcing the laws that exist on the books, as opposed to just passing new laws or new extension of laws." He went on to say, "you should know I understand that the right to bear arms is just as important a right in that Constitution as the right of free speech and the other rights." Giuliani was asked if he continued to support the lawsuit that he brought against firearm manufacturers as mayor. He responded, "I did initiate that lawsuit back in 2000. Since then, I think that lawsuit has taken several turns and several twists that I don't agree with . . . So, I would say that, at this point, it's probably going in a direction where if I was sitting on the court, I probably wouldn't agree with it." . . . By Curious George: Some Republicans are chosing to listen to organizations like the Chamber of Commerce and Farm Bureau to chart their course on the contentious topic of illegal immigration. I, on the other hand, prefer to listen to groups like the American Legion. When discussing who to side with in this debate, I'll side with the guys who have fought to preserve our liberties in a time of war.
I highly encourage you to read the American Legion Policy Paper: Strategy to Address Illegal Immigration. Here is the order they suggest the problem be addressed:
1. Secure the borders and other points of entry.
2. Eliminate the jobs and social services benefits magnets for illegals.
3. No amnesty.
4. Reduce the number of illegals in the United States.
5. Effectively screen and track all foreign visitors.
The Legion really lays out each point and supporting information. Information that demonstrates how badly the legislators in Little Rock are being lied to about the cost of illegal immigration. Be sure not to miss Appendix B where a series of adversarial questions are responded to. Here is a sampling:
Who should enforce our immigration laws? The Feds? State or local law enforcement?
The American Legion believes it should be all three. It’s position is "… that this country’s law enforcement agencies at the local, state and federal levels be empowered with the authority to apprehend and incarcerate individuals who are in this country illegally." If this was the case several years ago, there may have been no September 11, 2001 attack as several of the terrorists had been stopped by local authorities while in this country illegally for minor traffic violations prior to the attack.

All Violent Crimes Are Hate Crimes! Dems' Ideology Up for Debate
Tony Perkins, Washington Update, FRC:All Violent Crimes Are Hate Crimes!: Despite the valiant efforts of Senators Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and others, the "hate crimes" amendment passed this morning by a vote of 60-39. The amendment was attached to the Defense Authorization bill despite the fact that it was not germane. Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) did his best to justify his effort to create a two-tiered system of justice, saying it was to fight "terrorism in our neighborhoods"! It is apparent that those who voted in favor of it believe in a special class of victims that entitles some citizens to greater protection under the law than others because of their sexual preference. We applaud the President for promising to veto this bill, which has hijacked the crucial issue of military readiness and mired it in homosexual propaganda that puts our troops--and the greater good of this legislation--in jeopardy. While the outcome is disappointing, pro-family groups surprised hate crimes supporters by helping win over six converts for equal justice. A half-dozen senators switched their positions at the last minute to create a vote margin large enough to sustain the President's expected veto. Sen. Dems' Ideology Up for Debate: At last night's Democratic debate on MSNBC, candidates gave some revealing responses to questions on faith, parental authority, and traditional marriage. On the issue of homosexuality in the schools, the question was asked of John Edwards if he would be comfortable having the "King and King" fairy tale--which ends with two men kissing and living "happily ever after"--read to his young children as part of the curriculum. Edwards responded, "...I don't want to make that decision on behalf of my children. I want my children to be able to make that decision on behalf of themselves, and I want them to be exposed to all the information, even in (chuckling), what did you say, second grade? Well, second grade might be a little tough but even in second grade, to be exposed to all those possibilities. Because I don't want to impose my view--nobody made me God--I don't get to decide on behalf of my family and my children... I don't get to impose on them what it is that I believe is right." At the conclusion of the debate, Tim Russert referenced the discussion of faith in the Democratic party. He asked simply, "What is your favorite Bible verse?" Of all the responses, none included an actual Scripture citation and only one hopeful--John Edwards--directly quoted a verse from memory. Sen. Hillary Clinton (N.Y.) responded with "The Golden Rule," which is commonly mistaken as Scripture, though, as the New York Times political blog notes, Luke 6:31 approximates it. Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) said, "The Sermon on the Mount," and went on to talk about how it spoke to "social justice and equality." I think it's interesting that the media uses knowledge of one Bible verse as a measuring stick for spirituality. Plenty of hopefuls from both parties can quote Scripture, but they should be evaluated not by how many verses they know but how they apply them to their daily lives and political thought.See also:The Democrats Quote Scripture

Republicans effect on Democrat racism at Little Rock 50 years ago
Three days ago, we posted the comments of Rep. John Boozman (R-AR) Commemorating 50th Anniversary of the integration of Little Rock Central High School. Today we identify source information on the Republican leadership that lead to desegregation and making it possible for the brave teenagers to come forward to claim their Constitutional right to an equal education despite protests, threats of violence and even the Arkansas National Guard. Before this event the Republican led Congress passed the 1957 Civil Rights Act. Although criticized by people like Sen. Lyndon Johnson (D-TX) and Sen. John Kennedy (D-MA), this act would shape their own future policies when they both became president. In addition, this event addressed the authority and use of power between a President (then Republican President Dwight D. Eisenhower, a retired five star Army General) and a Governor (then Democrat Arkansas Governor Orval Faubus) over the control of the National Guard and the use the US Military to influence domestic civil rights. Open Letter to Congress by NTU & NTUF members: Dear Member of Congress:
On behalf of the millions of Americans represented by our respective organizations, we write in strong support of the House discharge petition (H. Res. 559) to call a vote on H. Res. 479. This resolution would ensure all earmarks are publicly disclosed and subject to challenge on the floor. Current House rules don't provide taxpayer advocates in Congress with the means to remove wasteful earmarks that are in many non-appropriations bills. The members of our organizations want to root out wasteful earmark spending regardless of the underlying legislative vehicles. Unfortunately, House committee chairmen are taking advantage of a loophole in H. Res. 6 that allows them to surreptitiously slip earmarks into legislation while at the same time declaring the bills are earmark free. H. Res. 479 will allow any member of Congress to challenge a suspected earmark in any bill and debate on whether the earmark reform provision in H. Res. 6 has been infringed.
Many Members of Congress campaigned in 2006 on a theme of fiscal responsibility. We applaud their stated commitment, but we now expect them to support H. Res. 559 and H. Res. 479 as part of fulfilling that pledge. Of course, challenges to pork-barrel spending on the House floor are most valuable to taxpayers when they are successful. We are truly grateful to those Members who voted for amendments to strip wasteful spending out of the Fiscal Year 2008 appropriations bills and we hope more will join them when the opportunity to challenge all earmarks in all bills becomes reality.

Dream Act Temporarily Defeated Again - Dems vow to aid 1 million illegal aliens
by Michelle Mittelstandt: The prospects for immediate Senate action on the DREAM Act, which would grant legal status to hundreds of thousands of young illegal immigratants (aliens), disappeared Wednesday amid Republican opposition. But Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) pledged that senators would vote on the the measure, which is strongly opposed by anti-illegal immigration groups, before the Senate finishes its work for the year in mid-November. "All who care about this matter should know that we will move to proceed to this matter before we leave here," he said. Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., had sought to attach the DREAM Act to the defense authorization bill. But Reid announced Wednesday night that Democrats were shelving the effort because of difficulties getting past legislative roadblocks." . . .
With conservatives being barraged with calls, faxes and e-mails from anti-illegal immigration groups that view the DREAM Act as amnesty, some Republicans who supported the measure in the past have been reluctant to do so now. Baxter County Arkansas Republican Straw Poll - Not Good News for Mike Huckabee
ARRA Editor: Mountain Home - In the Arkansas Ozark Mountains in the City of Mountain Home, one of the largest and most interesting county fairs in the state occurs. This year for just an a couple hours, unannounced one of the volunteers at the Republican booth (not associated with the ARRA) asked people who stopped by the booth if they wished to cast a vote in an unofficial straw poll. There was no charge; there was no registration; just citizens expressing themselves. People wishing to vote for a democrat were referred to the near by Democrat booth. In the short period, 72 people voted for their candidate. Results: Fred Thompson: 49%; Mike Huckabee (from Arkansas): 21%; John McCain: 8%; Rudy Giuliani: 7%; Ron Paul: 3%; Mitt Romney: 3%; Duncan Hunter: 1%; Sam Brownback & John Cox: 0%.
The results were interesting because Mike Huckabee as both a candidate and as the Governor of Arkansas has visited and spoken to Baxter County Republicans many times over the years. But, there can be drawbacks when people know a candidate too closely. In a followup, we discovered why many Arkansas Republicans do not identify Huckakee as a "favorite son" candidate. As Governor, Huckabee appointed democrats over quality republicans for key state committee positions; he promoted increased taxation via what is locally known as "sin" taxes - increased taxes on tobacco products, liquor; and he pushed weighing all school children and reporting their weight to their parents. Citizens remember Mike when he was slim, fat, obese, losing wait and finally a reformed health addict. But the most serious complaints were his mismanagement of the Arkansas Republican Party; his failure to use Lt. Governor Win Rockefeller to promote business growth in Arkansas; and before leaving office, his leadership resulting in lose of every state executive office to the democrats. by U.S. Rep. John Boozman (R-AR): I today joined an overwhelming bipartisan majority in condemning the vicious attack of General David Petraeus by the liberal advocacy group MoveOn.org.
The vote, on a Republican amendment to a temporary budget resolution to keep the government operating past the end of the fiscal year, passed the House 341-79. The amendment “condemns in the strongest possible terms the personal attacks made by the advocacy group MoveOn.org impugning the integrity and professionalism of General David H. Petraeus,” and “pledges to debate any supplemental funding request or any policy decisions regarding the war in Iraq with the solemn respect and the commitment to intellectual integrity that the sacrifices of these members of the Armed Forces and civilian personnel deserve.”
I am pleased that a vast majority of the House has chosen to condemn a vicious, partisan, and dishonest attack against Gen. Petraeus, a man who had the unanimous support of the Senate to command our troops in Iraq.. Having an honest disagreement with the policy in Iraq is one thing, but to directly attack and, without basis, call the person in charge of implementing that policy a liar is something I cannot support.
It is my hope we in the Congress can move on past this unwarranted attack and focus on bipartisan ways we can continue to support our troops and ensure they have the tools they need to successfully complete the mission we have asked of them. Homosexuality is not a civil right ENDA (H.R. 2015) likely to voted on this week
by Mychal Massie: While the nation's news outlets are riveted on the Jena 6 and O.J. Simpson, an insidious undermining of the workplace advances virtually unnoticed. That creeping darkness is the federal Employment Nondiscrimination Act, or ENDA, H.R. 2015. If the proposed measure becomes law, it will add "actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity" as a category to the 1964 Civil Rights Act. It would give special employment rights to homosexuals and the transgendered that would not only harm the integrity of faith-based organizations, but it would specifically undermine an employer's ability to grow his/her business in a productive and profitable way.
Civil rights and homosexual rights are not synonymous. Civil rights focus on the right to vote, the guaranteed access to public accommodations, and the desegregation of public facilities and schools. They have never been, nor should they ever be, about attempting to have the federal government mandate acceptance of a particular lifestyle. Homosexuals and cross-dressers may in fact be a lot of things, but an oppressed minority they are not. And I, for one, resent their temerity in suggesting that a rejection of their chosen lifestyle is in any way equivalent to what truly oppressed peoples in this country went through for the right to vote, sit at a lunch counter and/or stay in the hotel of their choice . . . American Family Association: The Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) H.R. 2015 is likely to be voted on this week in the U.S. House. ENDA is aimed at providing heightened protections for a particular sexual behavior- homosexuality. It would grant special consideration on the basis of "sexual orientation" or "gender identity" that would not be extended to other employees in the workplace. That could spell trouble for Christian business owners, churches and faith-based groups. Proponents of the bill quickly point to "religious exemptions" in the bill, but most agree that it is a sham. ENDA affords special protection to a group that is not disadvantaged.
The issue is not job discrimination: It is whether private businesses will be forced by law to accommodate homosexual activists' attempts to legitimize homosexual behavior. The first "religious exemption" clause is very narrow and offers no clear protection to church-related businesses: Religious schools or charitable organizations, religious bookstores, or any business affiliated with a church or denomination fall outside this narrow definition, and could presumably be required to hire homosexual applicants. The second "religious exemption" clause fails to offer protection for all hiring by church-related organizations or businesses. The position of a teacher of religion at a church-related school would be exempt, but, e.g., that of a biology teacher would not. Thus, most of the teachers and staff at a religious school would be covered by ENDA, which means that the church would be forced to hire homosexual applicants for such positions-despite the fact that their lifestyle would be in direct opposition to the religious beliefs of the organization or company. It is unlikely that the "religious exemption" included in the bill would survive court challenge: Institutions that could be targeted include religious summer camps, the Boy Scouts, Christian bookstores, religious publishing houses, religious television and radio stations, and any business with fifteen or more employees.
ENDA violates employers' and employees' Constitutional freedoms of religion, speech and association. The proposed legislation would prohibit employers from taking their most deeply held beliefs into account when making hiring, management, and promotion decisions. This would pose an unprecedented intrusion by the federal government into people's lives. ENDA would approvingly bring private behavior considered immoral by many into the public square. By declaring that all sexual preferences are equally valid, ENDA would change national policy supporting marriage and family. Take Action: Urgent! Click here to contact your U.S. Representative. Comments on Arkansas Resolution of Past & Present Illegal immigration Issues
KeepArkansasLegal posted several comments in regard to an article by John Lyon in the The Morning News addressing the State lawmakers conducting an interim study on illegal immigration, the cost to state agencies to provide services to undocumented immigrants, and the limited positive effects immigration in general. Tomorrow, Sept. 26, marks the 17th "See You at the Pole"

On September 12 of that year, 45,000 students at 1,200 schools in four states followed the Burleson example. Word of the flagpole-praying students spread, mostly in the same way that the word of Jesus first did--by word of mouth--this time greatly helped by the Internet. Last year over 2 million students in the U.S. took part and schools from countries all over the world also joined in this moving experience. Tomorrow, September 26, marks the 17th "See You at the Pole" and I ask that you encourage your children to participate. Take some time yourself and pray for these students to have no fear in praising our Lord. In recent years some schools have tried to stop kids from praying around the flagpole. Commemorating 50th Anniversary of the integration of Little Rock Central High School

John Boozman (R-AR): On Sept. 25th, our state – and our nation – recognized nine brave men and women who, when they were teenagers, came forward to claim their Constitutional right to an equal education despite protests, threats of violence and even the Arkansas National Guard. This date is not only a red-letter date in our state’s history, but a seminal event in the movement to unite our country as truly one people, indivisible.
Fifty years ago, Minnijean Brown, Elizabeth Eckford, Ernest Green, Thelma Mothershed, Melba Pattillo, Gloria Ray, Terrence Roberts, Jefferson Thomas, and Carlotta Walls, climbed the steps of Central High School. Few other moments in our history can compare to the ascent made by the Little Rock Nine. It was an ascent to a new plateau in the relations of Americans to their fellow citizens and a new plateau on the path to the American we now know. On Sept. 25, 1957, when the Nine made it to the top of those Central High School steps, they stood in a place where, up till that point, others said they could not go. Then, they did what was, in fact, the most important thing that day: They went inside to learn.
While Central High School will always be the event at the forefront of our memories when it comes to the history of desegregation, it is my hope that, as we remember the Nine, we can also remember the other schools in our state which preceded them, including Fayetteville, Hoxie, and the community of Charleston – who first broke down the barrier in Arkansas on Aug. 23, 1954. As we spend this day reflecting on our past, we should remember all the brave children, families, and educators across the state that – by their courage – set in motion a chain of events which created the Arkansas of the present and will resonate in the Arkansas of the future. WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Hackers compromised dozens of Department of Homeland Security computers, moving sensitive information to Chinese-language Web sites, congressional investigators said Monday. Investigators pointed a finger at a government contractor, saying the firm hired to protect DHS computers tried to hide the incidents from the department. The FBI is investigating the incidents, a congressional staffer said, and two members of Congress have asked the department's inspector general to also launch an investigation.
"The results of our [committee] investigation suggest that the department is the victim not only of cyber attacks initiated by foreign entities, but of incompetent and possibly illegal activity by the contractor charged with maintaining security on its networks," . . . The lawmakers said committee investigators found dozens of DHS computers were compromised and the incidents "were not noticed until months after the initial attacks." The extent of the damage is unclear, but a House Homeland Security Committee staff member said the hackers "took significant amounts of information." "We know where it [the information] was taken from, but we don't know what was taken. We only know how many megabytes was taken," the staff member said. "Everything was on the LAN A, which was an unclassified network. To the best of our knowledge there was no classified information [taken]." The former Federal Reserve chairman’s autobiography, “The Age of Turbulence,” lays into President Bush and congressional Republicans for their free-spending ways. The criticism seems to have emboldened Bush just as Democrats challenge him on taxes and spending.
Speaking at a press conference last week, Bush repeatedly hit congressional Democrats for proposing tax hikes and spending increases. The new hard-line attitude, something missing when Republicans controlled Congress, is refreshing for conservatives seeking a return to fiscal restraint. “The worst decision the Congress could make would be to raise taxes,” Bush said. “We don’t need to raise taxes in order to fund budget priorities.” . . .
Bush also came out strongly against additional government spending -- specifically the proposed $35- to $50-billion expansion of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, SCHIP for short. Add in 12 appropriations bills awaiting resolution -- all threatening to exceed the president’s spending recommendations -- and the stage is set for the biggest budget showdown since then-Speaker Newt Gingrich challenged President Bill Clinton to shut down the government in 1995.

Brownback: Less Than Fourth-Place in Caucuses Could End Campaign

How Much Influence Does the Mexican Consul Have With Arkansas Attorney General?

This statement was made concerning the suit our Attorney General filed against a Jonesboro company for allegedly offering fake driver's licenses to Hispanics in northeastern Arkansas.
AG sues company, alleges sale of fake driver's licenses: The state attorney general's office filed a lawsuit Thursday against a Jonesboro company for allegedly offering fake driver's licenses to Hispanics in northeastern Arkansas.The company, according to the lawsuit, illegally offered international driver's licenses or documents, despite having no authority to offer such a document."Anytime someone is issuing fake ID cards to illegal immigrants the attorney general's office is concerned," McDaniel said in a news release.
The rumor, note I said rumor, in Little Rock among legislators is that the Mexican Consul asked the Attorney General to get involved in that situation to protect the illegal aliens. The statement above and the AG's action though are fact according to the newspaper. Some say that the Consul was getting ripped off because they provide authentic licenses to illegal aliens, so they were being short changed.
We do believe the Attorney General should file suit against ALL illegal activity, but we wish he would be just as diligent to act against the illegality of the illegal aliens who broke the law coming to the US.He could be just as diligent in searching out the coyotes who are defrauding the illegal aliens as well as breaking our laws bringing the illegal aliens into Arkansas.While International Automovil Association was selling the licenses for $140 each, Legitimate International Driver's Documents cost less than $20. Wish McDaniel had such concern for legal citizens who have complaints about illegal actions by immigrants. And again, isn't the Mexican consulate encouraging and assisting illegal aliens to stay in this country which is a criminal offense? Washington is busy pointing fingers, assigning blame, and spending too much money. There is too much talk and too little action.
The blame, we must admit, does not belong to just one party. If we’re going to change Washington, Republicans have to put our own house in order. We can’t be like Democrats – a party of big spending. We can’t pretend our borders are secure from illegal immigration. We can’t have ethical standards that are a punch-line for Jay Leno. When Republicans act like Democrats, America loses.
It’s time for Republicans to start acting like Republicans. We have to remember who we are: We are not Big Government Republicans. We are not Washington Republicans. We are Change Washington Republicans. Democrats are not the change Washington needs. We are the change Washington needs and it’s time for Republicans like us to stand for that change again.
There is not a single challenge America faces that we can’t overcome with the innovation and passion that has always been at the heart of the American people. If we change Washington, I believe America can achieve anything. It’s time for change in Washington and that change must begin with us. In the nearly nine years since he resigned as Republican speaker of the House, Gingrich has floated the idea of a presidential candidacy numerous times, almost always when on TV to promote a new book. But he has never taken the plunge.
And so in recent weeks, as Gingrich has once more made rumblings about running for president, experienced Newt watchers wondered what, exactly, the former speaker was selling this time. The answer: American Solutions for Winning the Future, a Gingrich-led advocacy group that launches this week, promising new solutions to old problems like immigration, education and health care. Gingrich has promised to spend the coming weeks seriously considering the viability of a presidential campaign. But few Republicans are holding their breath. . . . One sign that Gingrich may be more serious than people think: he's been talking down his party's chances in 2008. Earlier this month he made headlines when he suggested that Republicans should "make a clean break" with the Bush administration and that the odds were "probably 80 to 20" Democrats would win the White House in a little more than a year's time. . . .
Gingrich's only hope is that his party concludes it has none. Memories of a government shutdown and partisan warfare in the '90s hardly make him a beloved figure. In a June Gallup poll, 48% of Americans said they have an unfavorable opinion of Gingrich, compared with 27% who said they had a favorable impression. . . . A successful Gingrich candidacy would require conservatives to compromise politically in order to stand on principle.
